I love the look of those standards, they seem fairly reasonable money. Are they usable every day for a gentle commute?

i cannot see why not, keep the underside covered in oil/waxoyl/dinitrol to keep the tinworm at bay regular gentle use will do an old motor no end of good IMO.

which member on here is running a morris cowley as their regular car? that will be about the same age as those standards.

I love them too. That grey one is identical to one my uncle owned for many years. I seem to recall Standard at the time made a virtue out of no bootlid by describing it as "rainproof"! Years ago I owned a (booted) 10 that had been fitted with MGB mechanicals. It was a real laugh to drive, especially as its only exhaust was one cherry bomb. I was constantly worried about how well the mods had been done, though. There has been much in the classic press recently about the blue one that has been rescued from Ford's scrappage scheme.

I guess anything can be used for a daily commute if looked after.

I was doing 70-odd miles a day in my Eight a few years ago with no problem. They're really fun and still very cheap. I'd definitely have another

No idea why the location is set to London on this as the cars in Sheffield, I know exactly where in fact. Bloody nice car.

As you can see from the pictures the guy also has an SVX(!) and last time I passed there was a dirty Alfa 164 on the drive too.
