That should be straight forward right?

Maybe not

Alternators are located fairly low down on the (US spec) passenger side of the engine. Cannot wait to find out that I need to replace it on my Aurora, with a lift it shouldnt be too hard though.

Also why is this a RHD car with a km/h cluster? Australian Import? Im not even sure if it was sold officially down there.

That's pretty tidy for a cheap BV202, most seem to come with more fresh air or wob than steel. They do rot for sport though, especially if they've been swimming a lot. Big brother the BV206 is better being GRP, but even a knackered one with the original Ford V6 is likely to be upwards of £15k.

I used to have an Alfa Sprint Veloce but feel I lack the 'nads to take on a home converted 3L V6 mid engined one that needs fettling. To be fair it has been MOT'd in current form though.

Sure there's a build thread for that Alfa Sprint on the blue forum, I think the guy had a towbar on it and used to tow a car trailer!!

Yeah, I'm sure I've seen that. I had one of these years ago, it literally fell apart due to rust issues. Lovely to look at though.

Wow!!!

Are they one of these auctions that charge an individual like £500 on top of the asking price?

They didn't change the gauges for UK market cars.  To change from km/h to mph you press a button which moves the speedo needle and, if memory serves, extinguishes the "k" from the little "km/h" light in the dial..

12 inch wheels off a 1984 onwards car too...

Though I do think the dials are the right ones. The two dial cluster off the Clubman was used for late Mk4s (I want to say from 1981 onwards) on the 'higher' spec cars (HL, HLE and Mayfair), but not on the Povvo spec City or City E, which kept the single central clock until the Mk5 in 1984, if I remember correctly.

You're right on the interior though. That looks like it came out of a slightly older car.

Very pricey for an automatic one, too. The problem I have with cars like this one, that are likely better than when new, is that I'd be far too afraid to ever drive or enjoy them as anything other than as a really complicated ornament. I'd much rather have that blue Mayfair above and spend the difference tidying it up a bit if I were to have the choice.

(I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed that I know all this...)

Dials do indeed look correct for a HLE or Mayfair from 1982. Single dial on City until sometime between Oct 84 and Oct 85, according to my brochures, then two dials for City and three for Mayfair after that.

I agree that the interior is older, no solid door bins and the seats look like the Clubman or 1275GT items from a 1978 brochure.
