I bet that Daimler is loads more useful with an MGB drivetrain, bit like the prewar Pinto Rover that caused a bit of debate a wee while back.

Still would.

Agreed, easier to find bits, B series are reliable and long lasting too

It starts and may even drive

For 5 bags you'd think matey would be arsed to find out, wouldn't you?  Maybe it's because the Olds is the only thing keeping a herd of zombie Espaces at bay in his garden.

keeping a herd of zombie Espaces at bay

Err, surely you just need a small puddle to achieve that?

This looks great - even better than mine, if I'm being honest, in spite of the higher (but not excessive) mileage.  It lacks a working gearbox though.

Bit worrying if he's right and autobox spares for these really are extinct.  Seems unlikely though.

Nothing especially exciting about the auto transmission for a B3 - just because he hasn't located the pasrts doesn't mean they're not available. Pretty much any transmission specialist would be able to sort it.

^ Indeed - that's what I was thinking.  And fond as I am of my auto B3, 'nothing especially exciting' is probably fair comment all round.

Otherwise presumably there's always the option of robbing a dubbed-up SLAMMED RATL@@K YO mk2 Golf GTI of its manual box and then ceremonially cubing the rest.  Instant Autoshite legend.

(Disclaimer: I actually rather like mk2 Golfs.)

Speaking of which, do we know of this Mk1 BX Estate?

That's from an ad for the twatshafted Polo. If you want to buy that, you can hunt for the listing yourself.

Had I not acquired the Hiace for such purposes, the idea of bodging this up with a few buckets of filler, bashing a couple of windows in the sides and fitting an 80s caravan interior would seem highly appealing.  Think how welcome you'd be at a nice tidy Caravan Club campsite.  Shame it doesn't have a nicely worn York diesel engine for maximum friend-earning capacity during prolonged smoke and noise-filled startups.

If I had money to burn I'd buy that Thema and drive it right to an MOT test centre just to see what is wrong with it. Those arches do look absolutely wrecked though....

That thema advert was going well until I got to the arches.

X350 V8: looks ok for t'moneyattachicon.gifimage.jpeg

Anyone seen one of these without leather 'cause its only the interior that puts me off.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201612300901213

that Jaguar is an X308, so its got a steel body derived from the X300 and XJ40 with the V8 engine instead of a 6 cylinder one... plus i think they all come with leather.

and the Alfa 164 is still a bloody beautiful car, even after all these years!
