Seller sounds pissed off. It looks nice though, no V5 as well as MOT is a put off.

When did you last see an early, povo-spec one of these?

The engine is parped in this one but it still looks ace in a miserable sort of way. WOULD if I had more time on my hands

I have been daydreaming about getting this and fixing it up all freakin day. What is wrong with me? What i have learned is that a 2.0 ford engine for one of these is not common, there is one being broken on the bay and thats your lot.

So are you telling me ford didn't fit this with a Mondeo engine ? Like the sports ka that's fitted with some obscure 8v engine they put in nothing else

Posted

Isn't the duratec 8valve just an old cvh?

Or am I talking out of my arse?

Posted

I think the engine in the Galaxy is summert to do with the old 2.0 DOHC 8v like in a Sierra twink or something

Ah OK, I didn't know that engine ended up in Galaxies

I meant the sport ka engine though

Posted

Along with the 2.0 i4 they came with a 2.3 16v and the 2.8 vr6 engine

A man of your talent should be able to sort that, pop in a 1.3 Duratec out of a rusty Ka.

Job done.

"Yon Vauxhall Ventora"

Ended at £2250. Seems cheap for such a nice car.

Aye, but plenty left to spend on a head job, some bike carbs, a hottish cam, a decent exhaust, and some new underwear...I'd like to see how a properly sorted one would go...!

Another confusing listing for two commercial vehicles at once.

Red a60 van : I have had this van on the road for ten years but it is now starting to rot on the cylinder

A little cylinder rot to deal with, right.

also i have a green A60 van . It as know identity the plates where sold but can be applied for at D,V,L,A

Don't they give you new plates when you sell yours? Serious question.

IIRC it had the I-4, a weird interim 8 and 16 engine used in the MkIV / MkV Escort RS2000, a couple of Sierras, the Scorpio and the Galaxy.

lost out on this one by 50 quid :-(

That's a bollocks statement.

You don't know that as at that level (up to £2,999.99) the bid increment is 50 quid. For all you know the top bidder had a proxy of a gazillion quid.

The only time you can justifiably say "I lost this one by £x" is when the winning bid isn't a whole increment above your max. (e.g in this case, had the winning bid been somewhere between £2,200.01 and £2,249.99)

On top of that, you didn't want to bid anymore than a Desmond as the winning bidder didn't exactly snipe it and you still had an opportunity to counterbid.

Fair enough Stephen Hawking, but its still a bit annoying when something goes for just a few quid more than your self-imposed max bid.

Posted

Somebody else won it for £50 more than Fred bid. Ergo Fred lost out on it by £50. Even if the other guy's max bid had been three million quid the same would have been the case.

Verdict: Let's get on with our lives.

Not really that weird, it was known by Ford themselves as "the DOHC", and was an update of the Pinto engine.

The 2.0 Sierra had it as standard from the 1990 facelift onwards and all the cars you mention plus the Transit (yes, they were still making petrol engined vans in reasonable numbers in the early '90's).

There was also a factory supplied LPG version which found it's way into both the Transit and the LDV 400
