if that is what has happened then i hope he enjoyed finding out that an auto engine won't fit on a manual gearbox...

something to do with how the oil ways/oil pick up not been compatible between the 2 gearboxes.

more likely the auto box was jiggered and he couldn't find a replacement.

The crankshafts are different as well but some of the mini engine rapers are a bit daft as they will buy maestro's to rob the 1275

The day I can buy this, drive it to the ferry port, and have the guts to say to the border police

"the drugs are in the glovebox and the girls and weapons are in the boot",

will be the day I know I have made it.

Jesus wept, 75 bags, is that what these go for nowadays? That's another car I nearly bought ten years ago for £12k. I am such a twat.

75k is the closest thing to grand theft auto for these nowadays.

In 1986, yes, that's 30 years ago, I bought a Ghibli in Verde Tiglio, with orange velours interior, for DM13,500. I gave a BEIGE(!) Iso Grifo Sette Litri as PX,

thus whacked 'only' DM 2,000 or so in foldable on top of that, half my monthly salary at the time. To put this into perspective, a new VW Polo GL also cost DM13,500.

If there is a twat around here, I suggest it's me.

We have a proverb in .at: For what you had, a Jew doesn't pay.

Want me to tell you about the £250 Jensen Interceptor I didn't buy in 1996?

did the viva really run upto V-reg?

my dad had an estate like this when i was wee small, that was maroon and on a J. i used to help put it in the garage sat on fathers lap with him working the pedals while i "steered" it.

maybe that is why i like the viva.

i'm going to have a punt on the red riding viva though. just because i can?

Vivas went to V reg but I dont remember seeing estates that late....Still it was 35 years ago.

i'm amazed that the viva ran as long as that, especially with the chevette been the same size and been on sale at the same time!

i guess by then the tools will have paid for itself and any that they did sell would have been a bonus.

That's without the whiff of a doubt the bloody best idea you had all day.
