But it's a shame it's not one with the round headlamps, or the opera window in the rear pillar (2 door??).

I think that's an earlier straight 6 Xjr . Not as powerful as the v8 but a bit more robust by all accounts

Yep before 1998 it's the straight 6, which was used in the early DB7's.

Loads for under £3k, as soon as it goes wrong, it's straight to the scrappy. But, it's a V8 Jag for not a lot.

Severe wantage on this one!  Is it me or doesn't the wood on the steering wheel not match with the rest of the wooden trim?

the wooden steering wheel, which was an optional extra is different wood (i think its light oak) to the dark maple that is used on the dash board.

 

it is a 6 cylinder car, with a v8 front bumper and wheels .

 

the reflectors on a 6 cylinder cars rectangular while on the v8's the reflectors are an oval shape.
