My best friend at primary school's dad had one of these, brand new, same colour, same spec on an X. Replaced a rather more dashing R-plate Peugeot 304, not quite sure what they were thinking of. His dad pointed out the main feature as "excellent leg room" which still shows in the photo of the back seat, and indeed we had a birthday trip out with about eight people squeezed in. Funnily enough I remember the black velour seats and wooden dash lending quite an upmarket feel, so perhaps It still did have showroom appeal after 14 years on the production line. They can't have liked it that much though because it was chopped innrather rapidly for an Acclaim, also on an X.

Something uncannily similar was hiding in a dark corner of a backstreet garage in the Cumbrian town of Cleator Moor until about 12 years ago. It was never restored - it just disappeared from there, as if it had been sold on as a project. There can't be/have been that many unrestored E-types about, even over a decade ago .......

'OK if you look at pic 8, the last one, you will see that the Calibra is decaled up to look similar, as it was the Holdens (TWR Commodore 3.8ltr with NOS!!) "baby brother" that my wife used to drive when we went to shows'

 

Quite why you'd want to base these decals on a constipated West Highland terrier that's just been surprise bummed by a a Rotweiler is anyones guess.

Those lights are awful. My mate recently bought aLexus IS200 with the rear lights, which inspired all these horrific knock offs and it looks shit. It looked great at the time but 1000000 modified corsas have ruined the effect.

FWIW, I don't like those 2-litre Equipes at all. Overbodied, under-wheeled UGGERS nonsense. There's a funny story about how they got 'styled', remind me to tell you about it one day. I think that's the colour my one is supposed to be though, still not convinced it's 'right' really.

 

FSO 125P is probably the absolute pinnacle of Autoshite (silly plastic cars from Preston notwithstanding). looking forward to seeing a thread about that beige beauty...
