With the exception of the illegal and daft looking blacked out tail lights (I still reckon Ford, Citroen, Fiat and Peugeot had the right idea - smoked for everything else but leave the red as red), I begrudgingly have to admit that I think that actually looks nicely done.

Absolutely horrible to drive I don't doubt for a second, but it looks good.

That colt appeared on ebay about 3 or 4 years ago. Not dissimilar condition. I contacted the seller to say I had a brand new wing and a carb but never heard owt back. Looks like its deteriorated further.. I'm tempted to bid but just for parts on my Lancer...

1700cc and 68bhp - does that mean it has the fabled* GM low-blow engine?  I never knew they carried that over to the Mk4.

Slightly fucked Midi van.  I remember when this was up for sale a while back - I was vaguely tempted at the time, glad I didn't now...

Daweoo Nubian, apparently.

.....I thought they preferred to be called Sudanese these days, but what do I know.

Ah, but are they Sudanese or South Sudanese?

I went to see this today as it’s near me and I’m sure my neighbours would love to see it added to my driveway. It was pretty mouldy and is only a barn find if your definition of a barn is outside. It has been off the road and exposed to the elements for the last 15+ years I would reckon. Would have cleaned up quite nicely except that there was a dent across passenger door and rear quarter which would have needed paint over the smashing original decals. The interior was good and amazingly dry but still a couple of cracks on the dash.

Underbonnet was a bit of a mess. It was partially disassembled, needed minimum full ignition system, cambelt, and water pump replacement, full service. There was no water in the coolant system. The clutch hydraulics had failed. There were puddles of water on the scuttle panels which didn’t look clever. The windscreen was delaminating. There was enough rust visible around the edges that some underbody welding is inevitable. Brake system would no doubt need work. Non runner obvs. If you threw £2k at it and did the work yourself you would have a roadworthy car but nowhere near mint.

Needless to say I walked away. The chap who was selling said he had removed it from Gumtree as he’s been inundated with calls, including an offer of £3.5k sight unseen. I told him to accept that offer if it was still on the table!
