Ohdearme Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 All the switch gear engages with a satisfactory clonk. It's all big sturdy stuff. 20190307_110937.jpgOdd that they included a button for ‘halp, im in rowing boat and about to crash into a buoy’. Wonder what it does? D Spares & Tyres and aldo135 2

Jim Bell Posted March 13, 2019 Author Posted March 13, 2019 Actually it's ginger beer because wine gives me a softener.
Jim Bell Posted March 13, 2019 Author Posted March 13, 2019 During this collection trip the poo count was very much like the gear changes on the way home. 1st to 4th happened a bit fast and hectic, but once I got to forth I felt comfortable and settled down. I did try and find reverse at one point as there was no toilet paper on the Cross Country train. Not easy to do in a panic. Uncle Jimmy, Split_Pin, dome and 3 others 6
purplebargeken Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 How nice. I once had a blue one of those you know. SiC, Jim Bell, rml2345 and 4 others 7
Jim Bell Posted March 13, 2019 Author Posted March 13, 2019 So it's a less than one litre Citroen AX originally from late last century, but more recently it was from eBay. Seller mentioned new oil,oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs,HT leads, ignition coil, windscreen wiper and replaced the Cam belt, the rear brakes. From what I could see, that all seemed probable. No receipts or history though. Oil looks brand new to me. Had a chat to the seller. A nice lad who's had 15 AX'S and he showed me round the car ,(I also pointed him toward Autoshite and asked him if he thought that Cavcraft should step down. He said no.) He's welded behind the headlights (TARTS).And fitted VAUXHALL ASTRA sound deadening to add a bit of quiet. mercedade, blakey79, Shirley Knott and 15 others 18
Lacquer Peel Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 4 speeds in 1995, miserable!Your driving position looks quite cosy.
Jim Bell Posted March 13, 2019 Author Posted March 13, 2019 There doesn't seem to be any other rust, but I may be looking in incorrect places. It's got a few dents, a few scratches but seems pretty straight. djim, Tamworthbay, Schaefft and 9 others 12
Jim Bell Posted March 13, 2019 Author Posted March 13, 2019 4 speeds in 1995, miserable!Your driving position looks quite cosy. It's not that bad really. The ratios AND the driving position.
Jim Bell Posted March 13, 2019 Author Posted March 13, 2019 I think the seats are the clear highlight of this automobile. Please brighten our days with a picture of them. They look like they've come off a 1980s public service bus. Supernaut, HillmanImp, dome and 20 others 23
SRi05 Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 How I imagine the drive home Dick Cheeseburger, Lacquer Peel, HillmanImp and 3 others 6
rantingYoof Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Surely the gear ratios allow for 40mph in 1st and 41-68mph in 2nd-4th? Jim Bell 1
Jim Bell Posted March 13, 2019 Author Posted March 13, 2019 Did that many miles on that many pez. Not bad really. From the off, and on test drive it drove ok. I paid, put some air in the tyres ,(they were all on 23psi) put some pez in the tank and set off up the road. In the first 50 ish miles of cruising at 60 ish mph the car was misfiring every so often. I dropped a cog (there's not many to choose) and ragged it a bit. Actually at length. This seemed to help and the misfire fucked off and seemed to liberate a bit of horse power. Cruised the rest of the way home at a comfortable 70. The wind buffeted around a bit but it never felt scary or unsafe. Burnside, The Moog, Marm Toastsmith and 11 others 14
Fabergé Greggs Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 It’s... its... beautiful. TOP BOMBING! Jim Bell 1
