The front brakes were replaced prior to it going off the Road - some surface rust but hopefully will clean up ok..

Traditional rusty sump is in place - surface only, no leaks.

Plans are afoot for repatriation of this to the land of Volvos.

Expect an update in mid march, should events not conspire against us!

Looking forward to getting torn back into this:)

If any assistance is required in loading lifting, pointing and generally getting in the way, I'd be pleased help, as long as it's not past my bedtime

We are southbound to get this thing MOT'D . Things are going well* so far.

AS Hot Chocolate would say

"It started with an FTP"

I had to jump through Merc with the Clio. I suspect the battery is on its last legs.

Down to Tebay, no bother.

Then it threw a low coolant light as we pulled in to park.

We scranned then found something for free at Tebay : Water

You can see the 3 part cap that shouldn't be 3 parts here

I shall look for one on eBay presently.

Next scheduled stop is Chester way..

Wish us luck!

Turned the heater on the Merc, pop coolant light again.

Another litre stuck in and back on it. Gauge now at normal.

For being hewn from granite that's piss poor showing.

Verily, or it could be a failure on my part re bleeding it after a thermostat change (like a Ren 16? ;)

We are horsing past Chester now, so no doubt Billy will want a chippy for tea..

Why did you change a hewn from granite thermostat?

It had a fissure!

Welshpool has been achieved, and Pish stop completed.

Backup coolant procured incase required.

Still, at least it ain't OLLI life

We stopped at the ls layby on the A465 to luzz in 5 L of veg, given the gauge is vague at best, and I didn't want to run out on the M4.

As it was, it was literally one junction of motorway before coming off and following the coast.

Swansea has been Achieved.

Off in search of food and beer.

Behold the view of a Merc dealers from my window.post-17572-0-36451200-1552503302_thumb.jpg

Bet they'd have a pressure cap.  Might not even need a second mortgage.

That is a very good fucking suggestion:)

The eponymous Skizzer is now also back in the neighbourhood, home from London and ready to receive visitors in the morning.

Sure I caught a whiff of chip fat as I passed where the Mercedes is parked up.

Hadn't caught up with this thread, soz. Have a good spare battery here if you're stuck on way home.

A new expansion cap has been ordered from Mercedes Benz Swansea - collecting it tomorrow am.

We are scranning then time to depart.

We had a busy day. We have worked through a lot of the pre-MOT list and now have working washers and wipers, all the front lights and most of the rear lights.

There’s also a new steering wheel (used, but in better condition) and RH column stalk.

Couple more electrical gremlins to chase down and I’m on a mission first thing for brake parts as one of the rear cylinders has been leaking. Then it’s MOT time.
