How much JB?

Interested in outright buyage, or PX with an E46 318Ci with working indicators!

Posted

Noooooooooooo!

Seriously, don't sell this car.

You've liked it enough to titivate to the point beyond where most would no longer titivate.

You've fitted your father's plate to it.

It's survived the financial shitstorm car cull.

A mildly moist* footwell is a rubbish reason for sacking it off.

I suggest no-one on here should humour this sale - make the man keep his trusty steed!

How would anyone know?

Much like an airline, I haven't got one.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to take in on loan, fix it and return it at a later date, I would happily SPEND.

I have one.

We need to stage an interventation and stop this madness.

This is not a good enough reason to sell this car.

Sale prohibited.

Jim, I'm shocked and surprised I really thought this was a keeper, I regret roffling mine on here bout 2years ago no where near as nice as yours tho.

Think you need to sit on it for a week or so see how you feel then - I'm sure there'll be an easy fix.

Cheers Keith.

You could wodge blu tac in the drain hole? If it can’t get in, it can’t leak out can it?

This is advice is coming from a man who has just pushed a Galaxy with a flat battery and seized rear caliper down the drive, a testament should you need it of my prowess* in all things mechanical.

Also, keep it - It’s lovely.

Trombone cleaner is a popular tool for MX5 owners to clean their drainage holes.

The Aerial is designed to be unscrewed and the ball end poked into the void when the roof is down.  It's in the manual.

Vaguely related, wife was helping out at kids club after school...they’d been doing planets at school...she remembered something about Pluto not being a planet anymore and declared to the kids it had blown up thus gone.

She’s a keeper.

Not allowed.

Unless you buy it, roffle it, get the Pope to buy a ticket which subsequently wins, he sells it to Jesus, Jesus roffles it, JB buys a ticket, wins then offers car to you for cash.

The bigger question is whether Jesus will get everyone to pay up, five weeks after the draw.

You made his life hell and he was later found wandering in the rain in the new forest carrying a broken van der graph generator and saying bibble.

Shame on you

Seriously, fixing leaking cars is rarely that hard *cough cough*. If you're sick of it and actively want to sell it then that's different, but if it's just the water ingress that's bringing you down then sort it out and keep it marra.

On the face of it and looking at it holistically your Passat leaked, your Mini leaked, this has leaked, anything you buy in the future to replace it also has the potential to leak at some stage too... I'm happy to help in any way I can, whether that be in a physical sense or even providing an emotional support mechanism, "I've been there, I know how you feel" etc etc...

Do you think that the rain where you live might just be heavier than normal rain and that is why so many cars leak?

..... or, as in my case, you park on a heavily cambered street + leak was on the 'high side' :/

Cheers everyone for the encouragement. Everything can be fixed with enough ability, time and money, granted.

If you look at the pics of the drain holes (I know it's hard to see) the passenger side (blocked) one has the rubber collection part of the drain tube fixed to the hole in the metal scuttle. The driver's side (that drains fine) the cup/collector part looks like it has pulled away from the scuttle and sits below, leaving a gap. It looks like it's pulled away from its fixing at some point and no matter how hard I pulled it or pried it, I couldn't get it back up to where it looks like it should be. It almost felt as if the rubber had shrank or something so that it would no longer stretch to where it should be. Access is shit and it actually sits behind one of the fuse boxes so can't improve access without removing that. And fuck that for a laugh. Odd that this side, with the gap between the drain hole and collector is on the side that actually drains too.

You're giving in too easily, relish the challenge :) Found a diagram here, could the tube have been punctured by over-enthusiastic rodding?
