Come to think of it though Henry only cost me to buy what about 2 months lease/HP payments would be on some crappy bland Eurobox

I'm looking forward to you getting it sorted lbf . It's same with most cars ,when there common place and over 10 years old you can buy them for price of an evening meal out . Another 10 years when they nearly all gone prices go up . My daily driver is a 1994 lancia thema turbo ds ,which I didn't pay a great deal for ,but to replace now would cost me a lot more . I'm looking forward to seeing your model 70 outside your house .

thanks :) I am very much looking forward to it as well! Last Major thing to sort out on her is the brakes (well and the fuel tank situation, but I think theres a plan in place to try and sort that with a modified jerrycan hopefully :)

and I have slowly been chipping away at the small things as well, at last FoD gathering we changed her spark plugs, im hoping at the next FoD Gathering on the 12/13th, to get the new fuel line finally fitted and hopefully also do an oil change (and if possible? also drop the oil strainer and check for and clean any sludge out of that)

which leaves just the gearbox and diff oil to change and her grease points attending to and that will be all the major service/consumable items sorted I think :)

(I dont know if any of these things actually need doing or not, but I have no service history for REV so have no idea when they where last done, so id like to do em to be on the safe side)

(we changed REV's air filter on the day I got her as the one she came with was impressively FUBAR)

theres also some electrical niggles here and there but im not worried about those, main thing there is she needs new headlights (which I have on the ebay watch list), but otherwise its just a simple case of getting all the rear and indicator lights working (pretty sure its just dodgy earths/ or bullet connections etc) and same for the horn which just makes a muffled "toot" and then nothing, but the dash lights do dim so I do wonder if it just needs a thwack with a suitable implement to free it off

so she is not all that far away from road worthiness now hopefully :) just hopefully one last major thing and a small gaggle of smaller things to sort :)

LBF is probably still in bed! @Six-cylinder has the field of dreams - send him a PM for the address.

September indeed, FoD gatherings (and pictures from them etc) are generally posted in this thread :) https://autoshite.com/topic/19386-six-cylinders-motoring-notes-fod-open-weekend-1213-september/?do=findComment&comment=2121051

(which I have set to take you to the 12th/13th arrangements, but I recommend going back a few pages too and seeing the last FoD gathering pictures :) still hoping someone might post one of me at the helm of the tractor :) )

somehow this managed to fly under the radar

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114374807928

however I think it showed up and then sold very quickly, I wonder who nabbed it, I know the chap with UOI8850 mentioned he managed to source an exhaust the other day, so I wonder if he was the one that grabbed it :)

it is interesting to note how the exhaust is tagged with its TSD number rather than its Store Number (unless thats on the other side of the tag?)

Do you have a timescale in mind for bringing REV into London?

I dont really have a timescale per say, just as soon as possible really!, both me and mum especially, (she seems to really care about my crazy ambitions :) ) are really anxious to get her home

but she needs to be road worthy before I can do so

and Im not sure when that will be accomplished sadly, the last major hurdle is her brakes, and im not sure if that can be done/if anyone wants to do that on the grass at the FoD!

however there is a new barn being constructed at the FoD, and I think the plan is to bring REV and Dolly into the barn as soon as possible to A get them under cover and B so we have some good hard standing to do stuff like brake work and mark working on them just that bit more pleasent :)

ideally id like to have her here or at leat under cover before another winter sets in

I admire your patience that's all, if I had the car of my dreams, I dunno a Renault 16 TX sitting somewhere, I'd just have to get it home even just to look at the thing out of my lounge window!

Then again it is very AS to own a car you never see...

and here im worried im being a bit too pushy about it!

another reason I have not brought her home yet as while is im confident in my abilities to keep her in shape once she is road worthy, I feel I need that little bit of extra help to get her to that state if that makes sense, Im confident I can keep the ball rolling but I need that bit of help to get it rolling

I do really wish I had REV here, but I have to terms with the fact theres just not anything I can really do from where I am to get her here, its a bit of a catch 22 situation (if I had her on the road id be able to get to the FoD etc much easier etc LOL!)

im currently pretty much entirely reliant on the good will of others, and I dont want to be seen as taking that for granted etc, and I always get worried im asking too much etc, im very thankful for whats been done for me!

so stuart notified me of this on ebay (well a few hours ago only posting about it now because facebook is utter shite at actually notifying you when someone has messaged you!)

say @dollywobbler how close is this to you? I know its in wales somewhere, who knows I might actually be able to nail the trailer back into a Model 64! (shame he does not offer shipping, you could probably flat pack that lot quite nicely LOL)

Congrats on winning, from a few months ago still looking for a model 70, and now having one and a bonus model 64.

I'm looking forward to you rebuilding it, much like @JimH and his steam wagons.

I am curious as to where the rest of it went and how these panels survived (Model 57s and 64s had bodies made of aluminium so the body was usually the first thing to be scrapped because of the metals much higher value than say fibreglass! in this case these panels are from a Model 57)

and they sadly clearly been hacked apart somewhat, hears the complete rear end of a Model 65 for comparison

Might be worth contacting the seller and asking if he could box it and you'd organise a courier.

yeah, I ill give it a poke but got to be careful on costs and space..., the trailer was cheap to buy, but (relative to the cost of the trailer) not very cheap to transport! (ah but we are all allowed one completely silly Autoshite moment every now and then right? :) ) and its using up valuable space at the FoD which I feel a bit bad for

its a shame I dont have REV on the road because then I could go pick the panels up in REV and just lob them into the trailer at the FoD for safe keeping! and if nothing else would give @Mrs6C more invacar bits to wear as a hat when it suddenly rains

(transporting bits of an "Invacar" in an invacar now that would be meta!)

Posted

Hmm the more I look at those panels the more hacked up they looked to be sadly, the bonnet looks complete but nothing else does not even the engine cover

you can see comparing to this photo of one not hacked about, that someones lopped off the top half of the rear engine cover for some reason

72736350_768324080284289_6767880362614849536_n.thumb.jpg.eb5226a136f3dbc3c95a2ca3eb98e5e1.jpg

best guess is it was chopped up for scrap, but then got set aside for some reason and just forgotten about?

Yeah, don't take this the wrong way, but I'd just leave them LBF, probably a distraction in money and effort from the main event (Rev).

Looks like its gone, "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available." Dont know how much for.

interesting, marked as sold on the Facebook market place

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/332172597970342

dont know if that means it sold through Facebook or he just marked it as such...

(he says he got an offer for £3300 so des not want anything less than that, can only assume he took them up on that offer maybe?)

oh neat!

did not know that either, would not have thought there was a market for one in Australia, not without a suitably large V8 installed anyway! (looks like its a Mk1 as I think I see wire spoke rear wheels)

wonder what happened to it in the end

tho I do know they did export them, almost positive iv seen a LHD one somewhere

and one made it all the way to pakistan I think!

Weirdly I found these photos from an Australian road test or demonstrator model a few weeks ago. Not sure the big bumper does much for the styling, but I love the minimal rear lamp arrangement. it's a Mk1, too.

funnily enough when searching for the LHD Petite etc for the above post I came across this photo

and wondered what the large bumper was about, but did not know where it was from (the photo is just a thumb nail that took me to an unrelated advert for an AC petite brochure)

I’m afraid not, it is wearing a California number plate.

But that does at least explain the bumper.

EDIT: This appears to be the style of number plate fitted.

ah interesting :) I did wonder, because Aus cars normally have a front number plate IIRC, like the Petite you posted

do wonder why the bumper still? I thought US spec bumpers only became a thing when they introduced the 5Mph thing in the 70's?

still quite funky to see, and interesting to see its RHD still, figured if US spec it would be LHD, maybe im mistaken in the LHD one I thought I saw (it was on dutch plates IIRC)

in other news have got enough info (its chassis number) to identify the Model 70 that sold recently as SPE351R :)

image.thumb.png.f74d4a9ab09feb8659173ee91379f2e7.png

looks like it was one of the few that survived right up until the end of the IVS scheme, shows a V5 issued in 2002, but does not show any keeper change (with the last keeper change being 1994) I suspect it may have been a courtesy car registered to the local ALAC or the 2002 keeper change that normally accompanies these late service vehicles simply is not showing up for some reason on my tool

(like how TPA621M's last keeper change is still showing as 1996, or how @egg never showed up on my tools as a keeper on one of XWC468F's records until @BlankFrank became the keeper)

have also been informed that it sold to a Warrington disability charity hopefully they take good care of it!

have just added it to the survivors list :) (where I also added JPA319N a couple weeks ago)

worth noting that I currently only have SPE351R's chassis number from its chassis plate, but im pretty sure from the pictures I see that its not been subject to Approved repairer shenanigans, and is actually SPE351R, I will of course still push for a chassis number from the actual chassis to be safe!

That's good because it means it may well be taken care of (clearly not people in it for the money!) - but also wonder why a charity would spend that kind of money on it?
