It seems strange. it sold via Car and classic, for £5000 to a Private collection over there, thats all the details I have regarding where it went to sadly! the chap selling it, actually offered it to me first, but no way I could have afforded it at the time sadly, I had only a few hundred quid saved up at that point in time! it all happened right around the start of this thread, if you dare to venture that far back Model 70's do have form for showing up in all sorts of unlikely places, as far flung as Thailand and India! On 26/06/2021 at 20:19, LightBulbFun said: and the second lot of pictures I came across is of a (I think Invacar) Model 70 in India, I knew about this one, but had very little in the way of details and no pictures, well now I have a few pictures but still not many details I do wonder if this one is JHJ548N which is the only other potentially surviving Private Invacar Model 70 I know of, but which sadly fell off the radar so to speak in 2008-2009 (its another machine I have no pictures of sadly, but the features of this Model 70 match with what JHJ548N would have had, ie a Mark B on 12 inch wheels etc ) its interesting how various people make do and mend with what they have on hand with regards to replacing the rear lights its also interesting to see its got another gauge on the dash board of some kind I wonder which it is sadly I dont know the current status of the machine, I think it was last for sale in 2010 in Karnataka India, but what happen to it after then I dont know sadly but im still happy to finally have found pictures of it and someone even field found a Model 70 in the US! On 23/09/2022 at 20:31, LightBulbFun said: the next Car and this is where it gets really exciting! is this one! you might think it looks familiar indeed it is the Mystery Model 70 from a good few years ago! On 01/07/2019 at 15:03, LightBulbFun said: heres one in the US somewhere, sadly not sure which one this is, or where/who owns it exactly https://www.instagram.com/p/BXtzKt4l3ye/ I have been wondering about this one for a long time since I first found it, no one had a clue as to which it was, not even one Stuart recognised or anything! and I finally tracked down who it ended up with! and indeed it something quite special! turns out that REV is not alone! there is indeed another private Invacar Model 70 out there! this is Private Car number 7 it turns out! its really exciting to see! as until now, It was generally thought REV was the only private Invacar Model 70 known to still survive (JHJ548N was taxed until 2008 and had a keeper change in 09 so I really hope that one is still out there somewhere, but I have never been able to verify it sadly) so its really awesome to see there is another out there!, the story behind it is interesting! im still getting the info and putting the puzzle together but apparently it was bought by a lady in England who took it with her when she moved to the States in the late 1970's! im told theres US documents for it going back to at least 1979! I did initially wonder if it had been sold to someone new in the US as before the current owner, it was bought by a dad for his disabled son to use, but turns out they where just the next owners after the British lady traded into a Chevy dealership who then donated to an Injured Motorcross youth, who then sold to a friend of the owners where its just been purchased from this does mean it would have a english registration mark if it was indeed owned by someone in the UK for a couple years before going to the US with them but curiously enough none of the Invacar Model 70 blocks from the time this vehicle is from show any holes indicating a private car! so thats very interesting (there is a chance it could of been registered outside of Essex, but that in itself is very rare of the handful Private Invacar Model 70's I can find on the DVLA only 1 is non Essex registered, LRL389P the rest where just registered inside of Ministry blocks) being from 1975, I do know that if it was registered in the UK it would of been directly onto the DVLA computer thus a record of it will still exist somewhere in the DVLA today but sadly due to the DVLA's historic archiving of anything inactive pre 1983, means theres no way for me to pull any data on it at home (not helped by the fact private cars tend to be a bit random in how their chassis numbers where recorded) so sadly I dont know its UK registration mark or if it had one! (I say if it had one because I do also wonder if it was ordered/bought by the UK owner as she moved to the US and thus was never registered over here, but again as above still putting the puzzle together!) heres a few more pictures! its interesting to see the mods and make and do mend things its picked up after spending 40 years in the US! like the awful rear lights LOL and most bizarrely for some reason at some point the hydraulics for the front brake had been disconnected and replaced with a cable operated by its own lever on the handle bars! it also seems like someone in the past traveled to the future and pinched @Zelandeth's idea and fitted a blower motor all in all its a very fascinating and awesome find! so to speak! really awesome to not only find out about a long standing Mystery car but to also find that another private Invacar Model 70 survives out there! and thankfully the owner seems to be very in tune with Invacars and despite normally being someone who is very deep into the car customisation scene (see the woody beetle estate next to it!) he plans to just treat it to a nice restoration this winter while trying to keep everything as original as possible which I am very pleased to hear, he clearly understands the significance and rarity of what he has he also confirmed for me that it was indeed the car being talked about here which I had been wondering about itself for many years! https://www.acownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3791.0 did some really field find a Model 70 as far away as the USA? indeed they did! Invacars they really do show up everywhere! uk_senator, Remspoor, AnnoyingPentium and 1 other 4
Weird Car Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Has anyone got a set of rear lights going really cheap please? ‘Around the £20 mark’ I just need them as a stop gap until I can get my originals rebuilt, I’d be happy with a set of originals or later britax. Many thanks.

I know you said you were trying to find a good way to re format the page but I was just wondering if you’d made any progress what with all the mk12s and model 70s that have sold/ been discovered recently.

Hyperlink all the reg plates, which would then take you to a separate page with photographs and information about the car. Then again, that's going to be one hell of a job to sort out, I'm sure.

Weird Car Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 On the subject of me and Invacars, after fitting new rear light clusters to TPE I’m still not getting any activity from them which leads me to believe it’s possibly a bad earth on the car somewhere, did someone happen to have a picture of the wiring diagram? Also what fuses it takes and where to look for them as I can only find a single 5amp fuse under the dash and I’d expect it’d use more than 1 fuse.

Rule of 1 of Fibreglass car electrics, always check your earths! I recommend getting a multimeter and/or test lamp to check the voltages are getting where they are meant to go, they are a handy to thing to have saves you unnecessarily replacing bits that might be good! (out of curiosity what new lights did you fit?) if you can only find a 5A fuse then someones fucked with things! there should be 3 fuses on a Model 70 of that age, 2 under the dash in a standard lucas fuse holder, a 35A and 25A (and thats their blow rating, so in Modern fuse parlance 17.5A and 12.5A) and then on the Dynastart charging line should be a Euro type 25A fuse in an inline holder note that on a Model 70, EVERYTHING goes through these fuses, so thus a dodgy connection on one can cause all sorts of fun issues, from completely dead to cranking with no spark and everything in-between and here is a wiring diagram note that your car being a Post March 1976 one, also has a voltage stabiliser to do with the revised gauges Mrs6C and Six-cylinder 2

I really do wonder if both of the rear flexies have collapsed and are now acting as one way valves? I have heard that happening with others and I have had a couple people suggest it to me to check, so perhaps it might be something worth checking while your in that area so to speak
Eyersey1234 Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 @LightBulbFun When Invacars were issued by the DHSS what was the criteria for getting one?
