Evening all, thanks for accepting my registration 🙂

I've been a big fan of classic and semi-modern oddities for as long as I can remember. I'm really enjoying browsing around here, and find the "ebay tat" section especially pleasing.

Below are a couple pics of my shite;

The Toyota Alphard makes for an extremely useful family wagon, and the Cortina just puts a huge smile on my face every time I sit in it 😎

Wow! A red Cortina Mk5 estate is something I’ve been  wanting for a long time. Please tell us more.

Well believe it or not this is second red mk5 estate that's been in the family 🙂

My dad bought a 2.0gl way back in 94' for carrying all his bricklaying tools, and taking us on holiday. The car was a beast, and despite being stolen and recovered, then hit by front loader at work, and then rear ended by an astra at traffic  lights, it just kept going and it was still running when it was sold on with 160k on the clock

I purchased aln938y in 2013; it was used as a company car until 1984, then sold and kept by same person until 2012, it was then sold to their neighbour who I then purchased it from soon after. The car has spent most of the last 10 years in storage, but has now had its brakes overhauled and is very close to being back on the road 😎

That’s fantastic, thank you. My late dad had a red Mk5 estate company car, GYN428W and I’d love to have one, as it has so many memories attached.

Yeah brilliant cars, so many people have stories to tell 🙂

They do come up for sale from time to time, but are quite thin on the ground. Odd really as they were once one the most common estate cars in the country

Morning all,

Another newbie here.   Another one who followed Grizz from Retro Rides (having previously got to know him via the old Volkszone forum) and found Autoshite.

I've owned a lot of cars, mostly rubbish but with a few gems along the way.

Current motor is a  restored 1972 BMW 1602, but this week I've been offered a dodgy old BMW Z3 by a mate which I think I'll buy.    Been standing 7 tears with the roof not quite shut so the interior smells like a rotting swamp, starship mileage, no service history, starts most of the time - basically an absolute shed of a money pit - why wouldn't I buy it!

Hi all newly registered member here but have been a “guest” for a while . My every day is a new-ish golf GTD estate but I do also own what’s said to be the worst Gti a mk4 1.8T it’s a 2002 with full service history and 117k  on the odo,,,rare as unmolested apart from a K&N panel filter and not a rust bubble to seen,,,cured by sticky buttons using Dunlop 65 citrus (a piano key and guitar fret cleaner) can highly recommend this on 80s/90s plastics with a bit of elbow grease it does the job, another piece that I have to dispose of is a  mint 98 1.9 Z3 base in what I’d call plum duff colour with a low 47k on the odo ,,,,,but worthless 😩

Nah, at least the 1.8t had bite. The mk4 GTI with the 2.0 N/A I'd said is the worst GTI!

I'm just toying with the idea of starting my own thread on here (about the Lotus Excel I've got) - I've got a thread running on two other forums (a dedicated Excel forum, infrequently used by others - not surprising really - so few of them left and another retro forum)..........but I spend more time on here than the other two combined.  It's just...........time.  Can't face writing it all out again.  Wondering if I can just copy and paste?

I usually use Tapatalk to do this as it copies all the links and bbcodes.

Not really a welcome as I have been a member since the early AS days but haven’t been on here for a long time.

Now living in Gibraltar and driving an early Mercedes ML

My Rover 75 unfortunately couldn’t come with me so it sat in a garage unused in the UK for a couple of years and now has gone to its new owner in Belgium.

I know that some time the Spanish can throw a hissy fit at the border controls but really that is no excuse for being absent.😁

Hello y'all! First thanks for the registration approval! Met autoshite thru a friend who kept sending me content and fell in love with the forums!I'm from Brazil so I will be blurring my plates but in the spirit of the thread here are my current two nuggets, a 1997 VW Polo Classic 1.8 Mi that used to belong to my grandpa, and my Renault/Dacia/Renault-Sport/thing Sandero 2.0 RS 6MT but its a dacia sandero so i reckon it fits here too i think

The polo has been with me since I was born, my grandpa had it since 0km and i grew up in it, it has always been a hissy child so in 2007 it became a beater and it was going to get sold in 2015 thereabouts when I was just old enough to have thoughts, so i asked him if i could have it, he said yes, i thought it was just him being nice, but sure enough 5 years later when i got my license it was mine! But ever since 2015 more or less he started tasking me with fixing its stubborn issues except when i couldnt afford, he'd help then, so its been quite a long time im trying to get this thing to be a normal car ...and it still isnt, its downright the most unreliable car ive ever had contact with, but i love it way too much to give up even if it really tries to make me... image.jpeg.4b2b5ff75f13672230a9683f51b2725e.jpeg

It is a base model, it has no optionals. none. Its spec list lists 'an digital clock' as part of the standard features. Does have power steering tho (altho it was standard, all of them had it)
This is pandero, the sandero:

Nothing much to comment about it I thought it'd be more french than this its just reliable, its an car, has literally not done anything wrong its suspiciously un-french-like

but thats it, i'm happy to be here now and i hope these two nugs are interesting for yall as they are for me, once again thanks for accepting me!

Been lurking over here for a good while now but finally got round to sorting out an account here, good to be able to say hello :)

No long list of exotic* cars here but I own a slightly shonky 1994 Corolla Liftback that I rescued off a family friend after it had been sitting a few years (where it suffered an incredible amount of bad drivers bumping into every corner), and it's continued to function perfectly as my first car ever since. Made the trip over to festival of the unexceptional last year in it which is possibly the furthest it's been in decades and am currently kicking my feet over not going to rustival too

Outside of that I'm a big fan of 80 and 90s shitters in general (with a side of modern japanese chod too, love a good silly kei box) and spend most of my time doing mod stuff over on BeamNG.
