Deposit taken Ford KA 'Luxury' £250

This is my wife’s and she has had it from new. A friend of ours has a Focus surplus to requirements so she is upgrading. It has the newer OHC engine rather than the pushrod rattler.

The good:

Lots of MOT until (May 2019)

Less rusty than most KAs

Various recent new parts such as wishbones, droplinks, spring etc.

Serviced regularly (most recently less than 500 miles ago)

Reliable and generally hassle free

Although the wheels on the car are mismatched it comes with two spare wheels with knackered tyres to make matching set

The bad:

Passenger electric window u/s

Smart charge borked (charges fine without smart chart but battery light on)

Various random dents and rust in bodywork and usual rust around petrol filler all daubed in Vactan.

Indicators don’t self cancel

Air con inoperative (compressor MIA)

In Liverpool.

These have got to be the ones worth fixing - who thought leather and air con were essentials on a city car?! (Your wife clearly :))

Interesting how 'in Liverpool' seems to be listed under the bad...

Last few times I've been there I've not even had my hubcaps nicked... on the up that place.

Just sold a Ka myself they're surprisingly fun little cars, someone's gonna get a bargain right there. GLWTS.

Can't agree, he left an M People CD in the Volvo he sold me.

:) just to be clear the M people CD was already a fixture in the Volvo when I bought it!

As above my understanding of the smart charge thing is that it reduces the charge rate at times when it thinks you can get away with it in the name of 'efficiency' (about 0.1 mpg I imagine). When last winter it stopped charging I learnt that there are many reasons why this could be so. I also learnt if I disconnected the smart charge multiplug it charged at an entirely successful rate although the battery light remains lit. The second part of my fix is a snazzy digital voltmeter that plugs into the cigar lighter; this is included in sale along with two complimentary CDs:

1) Level 1 Disc 1 Learn Russian in car.

2) Air - Moon Safari.

I wouldn't care Billy loves a KA. Almost as much as an Iveco...

I don't get it. While this might have fancy, but fucked, seats and a rusty filler cap its sold straight away for £250 but one the other week that was similar didn't shift for £50??

Posted

I don't think the 50quid one had an MOT tbf. Despite rust on this, it's ready to go for at least a bit without work.

To be fair...i took a drunken punt on this. Underneath the grot is a decent wee motor. Its all about the MOT on these. Ive looked for ages to find one in above scrap condition...and this has loads of life left in it. I collected this having driven down from glasgow, all less than 24 hours after it was listed. What struck me was that Kate had it from new, and the mot history wasnt too scary. If it had been a bad car she wouldnt have kept it as long would she? And the £50 quid scrapper that didnt shift?? How many hands had that passed through? Each car on its merits an all that. I would have done a collection thread for this, and charted its progress...but i just dont think there is the love for these wee cars on here. Fuck knows why, cos in all fairness they are shite...an this is autoshite!

I get it and with that history it was definitely worth it. I also don't get why they aren't generally liked on here as they are a excellent example of Autoshite with the thousands dissappearing very quickly.

I have a real soft spot for them, wouldn't mind owning one someday.

Plenty of love for them on here - it is one of the cars always suggested for paddock of profit :-)

Smoll update...other than a wash and some fuel now and again...this wee thing has been faultless in daily service. Fixed minor issues like the passenger window not working...and added aux connector for tunes. Dont really warrant its own thread unfortunately...great wee car
