Says 1.8 16v on the boot. Some old biddy piloting it, didn't look like Barry-er to me but you never know.

I used to have a customer at VW with a similarly pink MK2 Golf, it was very hard to resist polishing a random bit of it when it came in for servicing

This would be quite quick with the 1.8 unit, 5-stud wheel pattern would mark it out as the larger engine. My mate used to have an '02-plate DualFuel 1.6 16V Comfort with those same 15" wheels on 4-stud. I'm sure I've seen Elegances with the multi-spoke 16" alloys that the late SXi also had, or were they optional on the Elegance?
