Phworr ! Can I bring my classic 500cc Dennis and play shite mowers ?   :-D  :-D

Yes

It is a shame my Hayter Condor has a failed cylinder bearing, but it would be good to get it out and strip the bearing for replacement.

We needed the rotary really, but I thought I would keep the grass short but I never have.

The organisers are looking to get a few more 'Concours' cars in before entries close in a few weeks.

A reminder. If you own something deliciously miserable, but in great condition (Trigger, entered your Ital van?), then you can enter it in the Concours, which is the main display area of the Festival of the Unexceptional. It is free! Even if you enter and your car isn't chosen for the Concours, you can still park in the classic-only parking, which will be substantial.

I know the website is about as clear to use as a Chinese instruction manual, but this is prime Autoshite!

Further news: Spectator (ie boring modern) parking has sold out. There are still 154 tickets available for the main classic section.

I'd love to come down and camp in the FOD too. Only thing I've got though is the trike.cant park in the usual carpark as would prohibit me getting anywhere with Mobility sadly. Worth a giggle putting trike into the unexceptional I guess or parking in FOD and hitching a lift?

Posted

I booked my spectator car parking a few days ago as filthy modern (2004) - they sold out really quick (only 200 spaces, and there were about 150 left when I booked)

Posted

Well I've emailed them and provided details of the trike and now have a forward parking ticket to the front of house. This could be interesting!

Seeing this meant I booked something in quick

I've just added a 25 year old Rover R8 in as classic, hope they accept that.

Surprised me that, that front lawn could fit thousands of cars!

They've got to leave room to best the women off with shitty sticks between the cars though I expect

Well I've put trike in after emailing first so should be ok?

Glad you're going Bub, met you at Cannock bangers two years back.  Looking forward to the the reaction of the Rat Rod Rialto Cabriolet

Can see Wuvvum and Hirst on the list too

Trigger's Ital is not listed.  We should encourage this.

A lot has happened sadly over last two years so no offence but I can't remember!

Slightly surprised to see my car listed, but under a different name..... That wasn't the one I booked under  :signs053:

Unfortunately that's the same weekend as the Morris Marina Nationals in Buckfastleigh in Devon, so I'm meant to be driving it down there... only about 600 miles round trip in a uncomfortable van that i'm too tall for and that has been off the road for 25 years and currently has big oil and water leaks...

i had an ital van many moons ago,,drove it from barow in furness back to deepest sussex with a feck off big  oven in the back ,,,the dash rattle stopped me falling asleep at the wheel

I appear to have been sent an e-mail from the organisers inviting me to enter the CX into the concours section.

I can't think of a better way to bring that class into disrepute....

I've just booked my flights. I'll be coming down on the Friday and flying home on the Sunday, staying at chez RantingYoof both nights.

Will hopefully see some familiar (and no so familiar) faces there! :D

Flying is considerably cheaper than the fuel I would use to drive there and back, especially in a 23yr old 6 cylinder petrol automatic.

I picked one of them up recently.

Posted

There's a slim chance I'll be picking Supernaut up in something a bit more 'interesting' too by that time.

Or even perhaps a Daewoo depending upon the BALL DROP...

Posted

I've booked "forward parking" (whatever that is) for teh Alfa, because there's feck all chance of me getting the Capri done - and it's modified anyway, so they probably won't want it...

Is there anything else to pay / do.... seems unusual that no money has changed hands....

I don't suppose we have a pitch or summert? I'll be there with Blind Trev, so a 6ft tall 18stone bald bloke, and a 5ft6" bearded elf with sunglasses on - some of you will know this anyways....

Posted

It's free, and parking is purely based on when you arrive. Arrive together, park together, but I prefer the random nature of it myself. Groups can be a bit off-putting. That said, there will be at least two Invacars, possibly three, so we'll definitely try and get those together.

According to the site's map, it's 91 miles and 1h51m.... we'll see about that....(Although it'll be 1h15m to get within half a mile, then the extra 36minutes queing...)

Posted

Don't remember much queuing last year. There's a massive long drive into the site, and they seemed pretty good at marshalling. Can't wait!

Posted

The worst bit about last year is being relegated to pis*ing in the trees because there only three portaloos and you were banned from the house toilets, being an oik in a classic car

I've been ignoring this thread as the next few weeks are at Shite max so I haven't tried to get permission for anything else. DW suggested earlier that I should bring the 1310 down if we have managed to register it in time.  As it's 2 years too new for the classic parking and moderns is sold out does that mean it can't come anyway?  I have permission from Ms C so will come down to 6C's field and hitch a lift in with another shitter if thats OK?
