Not a fecking chance with this one

Had to remove the starter then remove a big plastic cover which was covering the hole. I was fuming as I’d read you could potentially sneak the locking pin in behind the starter. It was a Pain on the deck

New timing belt kit and waterpump fitted to the mundano yesterday before the snow.

Made up locking tools with an 8mm bar cut up and bent, worked well but what a pain it is to remove the starter and plastic cover to access the flywheel locking hole

Mine is getting done Monday. I have outsourced it :)

I didn't bother locking mine when I did it....

If I was doing it again I’d tippex it and not bother locking the flywheel

Today was wheel bearing day.

It’s been making noises for a while. Surprisingly easy with the fancy Gen 2 wheel bearing tool.

Slightly annoyed I had to buy a special tool but I’ll do both sides then sell it on I think.

Noticed when I was doing the hub that the top mount bearing was wrecked. I’d replaced the nearside strut for its last mot so I felt it was a good idea to replace this strut at the same time.

Glad I did as it was leaking when I removed it.

It’s an easy change in these cars so was a fairly quick job ticked off the list.

Next on the list is to have the wheel refurbed as they are very much past there best. Plus it needs ANOTHER set of front tyres soon.

12000 miles doesn’t seem great for a set of tyres ☹️

Winter ST 3 19's off and OE 19's and 25mm spacers back on.

It looks so much better with the original wheels fitted.

Funnily enough. I’ve just had the wheels on mine powder coated 8B710ADA-A638-4B10-8DD4-4267FD198A6B.thumb.jpeg.4258ca7919dba33786fa6340d6f682eb.jpeg

Nice, mate. Anthracite really suits the white ones. I like that.

Mine are still the original diamond cut finish so thankfully no refurb needed.

It’s a bmw colour “Ferric grey” or something. Either way it looks nice.

These wheels had been powder coated previously and it was flaking off and looking less than ideal.

cheers 👍

Nothing exciting but ordered the mondeo a full service kit and the monroe rear shocks are sitting waiting to go on. Exciting times 🤣

Not bad tho, 6 litres of decent oil and oil, air and fuel filters for £46 delivered.

Ford recommend fuel and air filters every 40k and oil every 12.5k. I’m about right for the oil but I’m doing fuel and air at 20k

Is yours a 2.2, I forget?
I find mine benefits from a fuel filter, around every 20K.

Nothing exciting happening here, either. I also have a service kit, waiting to be used. I was amused at big car being a big car though, today.

It’s being arsed to do the fuel filter on the Euro 4 diesels in those, right under the boot floor, covered in diesel then fucking about priming it.

A shit design, aye. The 2.2 is a bigger twat, IMO.

I liked the mk3 design, on the bulkhead.

They could be a twat to bleed unless you filled the filter beforehand or if you used cheap shit filters, Delphi were always the recommended jobs.

Agreed. Easy to fill it, though and refit and then let the lift pump do the work.

I ran my mk4 2.0 right out of fuel once and kept cranking it and it was a bastard to purge the air from, after that.

I chickened out of that one when I had mine (now with @Cord Fourteener) and took it to the garage. Even they said it can be a PITA of a job, and if it was a run it into the ground kind of car they'd advise not to bother.

I'll remember to try not to run it dry then!

Though these days £50 of fuel just about fills the reserve so its increasingly likely...

Feckin EML come on this evening, P2002 so I’m thinking it’s the DPF pipes. Went to Birmingham and back on it yesterday so I’d doubt that the filter is blocked.

At least they're an easy job to change! Just don't leave it too long otherwise the DPF may get clogged from a lack of regens.

Put the lamp on then at 4am this morning prior to doing a 160 mile trip the light came on again, pipes duly ordered, I’ll fit them midweek.

Err yes, they’re fucked, caught the pipe with my sleeve and it fell apart immediately...

I just used silicone vac line to replace them on my old car.

I'd heard tales of the Ford ones being a fortune for what is effectively fuel pipe.

Can't imagine they will be any different to vac or diesel leak-off pipes.

Nah I just ordered some Febi Bilstein ones, £37 delivered. Comes with the clamps and the sheathing, just waiting for it to arrive...

Aye, they are just rubber hoses. Easily replaceable with almost anything. Ford take the piss and it seems so do Febi Bilstein, albeit to a lesser extent.
