My Mk4 passed it's test today thankfully,

So we are good for another 12 months..hopefully.

It wasn't supposed to be going in until the 8th of January but a mate managed to get me a slot this morning.

My TXS blitzed it's test again, whenever that was. Still running as good as ever.

I had the windscreen replaced, a couple of weeks back, due to the heating elements starting to die.

Not much else to report.
Currently on the winter, ST3 19's.

Does windscreen cover on your insurance cover a failing heated screen?

It does if you hit it with a hammer :D

Terrible advice!

As a happy aside, the new screen heating elements come with an I think it was, 10 year, transferable warranty. So that's pretty cool.

A thread purely dedicated to Mk3/Mk4 Mondeos? Glorious stuff indeed!

@warren t claim popped this thread in my shite trading log, so have a photo of the Mondeo I've been prepping for sale this week (decent service and a pair of rear trailing arm bushes)

Did you do the trailing arm bushes yourself?  I took one look at the work involved, thought "fuck that" and gave it to the garage to do.

I’ve not had the pleasure yet but I don’t think they’re prone to the bushes seizing into the sleeves like the Mk2 Focus.

I upgraded mine to poly bushes. Removed the old with a reciprocating saw and an SDS drill, on chisel. Never tried fitting standard ones.

Was going to, but my local garage suggested that not having a proper lift would make the job an arse for me, and offered to do it for one hundo cash. Probably worth it if they're hassle.

Fucked bush,less than 4 years and 55,000km!!

The other side is still ok,bit of delaminating but still solid.

Old bush out,cut through the old one with a hacksaw then twatted it with my BFH!

Job jobbed!

The rear bushes aren't that difficult to do,but you do need the correct tool.

I was lucky enough to borrow one.

100%. The tool is £100 alone. Let alone labour etc

I take it no-one is a fan of poly bushing the trailing arms, then? The kit was only £80-90. No special tool needed and, on my Sport at least, they feel no different to OE.

19s, low profile tyres and sports suspension make for a firmer ride than a Titanium or something, granted. But IMO, they are a better bet, if fitting DIY especially.

I would have gone poly bush if I couldn't get the correct tool to fit the original type.

Hopefully I won't have to do them again...🙄

What would bother me is the lower bolts seizing into the bush. Don’t know if the Mk4 is less prone to this or what?

Mondy went to garage today for investigation into weird occasional metallic rubbing sound.

They didn't find the cause, but did find that the rear engine mount was FUBAR. They are keeping her in and doing the job tomorrow.

The racing mondeo soaked up 545 miles today at 47mpg whilst collecting the new racing mini. What a great car it is for cruising

Trapped in a mondy.

Got in car this morning. Turned on the heater and screen demister, then tried to get out, to scrape the side windows.

Nope. Not happening. Door release didn't work.

Windows iced shut, so couldn't lower them to access the exterior handle.

Took 20 mins for the window to unstick, before I could get out!

That’s one thing that really fucks me off about those cars, that and the rainwater pissing all over you when you open the boot.

Still not working, so I assume something has snapped.

Will continue to open the door in a cool way, by winding window down and using outer handle, till weather warms up and I can be arsed to investigate it.

i've had this happen before. It's all down to water dripping onto the door latch.

Weird that it still won't work. Mine returned to normal when it warmed up.

Estates solve this issue.

Or you can buy little deflector things, if you CBA to wait a few seconds, after opening the boot.

I bought some 8mm plastic right angle section trim from B&Q and stuck a bit either side of the glass in the hatch to fix that.  Worked fine until it fell off; I guess using Tiger Seal would make a more permanent job of it than sticky fixers.

New timing belt kit and waterpump fitted to the mundano yesterday before the snow.

Made up locking tools with an 8mm bar cut up and bent, worked well but what a pain it is to remove the starter and plastic cover to access the flywheel locking hole

If this is the PSA based donk then you should be able to get under the starter and feel it in, at least the last time I did this on a van you could.
