Not really motoring related, but it's in fitting with my choice of vehicle...

Work banned beards. I mean technically they're allowed but you have to wear a snood which is like a hairnet for your face and is something quite clearly designed in hell as it makes your face an itchy, sweaty mess in seconds. I've sort of gotten away with having a beard and keeping a snood in my pocket in case an auditor strolls through the door but rules are getting stricter because God knows it'd be a hygiene disaster if a stray beard hair were to land on an egg. You know, those things that come out of a hens arse and of which the edible bit is entirely enclosed in a protective shell?

Sideburns are also included in the ban so as of Monday I'll be a boring, baby faced bastard again. I like to think I went out with style*.

How on earth has a T-reg Sprinter survived this long, especially in Scotland?

Tory party conference in Manchester.

Delegates advised not to wear identity badges outside the secure zone due to fears for their safety.

Even modern politicians are shit. They look like they are about to cry. He should take a lesson from Two Jags...... punch first, ask questions later.....

This is not a comment on cyclists, who have as much right to roadspace as any of us; this is a comment on the type of Youtube videos posted by certain of those cyclists...

Had a great day today, met up with Catsinwelder who helped me move my stuff from Evesham to Telford. Plus, I even scored a big free telly out of it!

On the way we got held up a bit:

Garage got nice and tightly packed, sadly couldn't get the 820e out further than a couple of meters:

This is also a resident there now if anyone wants to use/try it out, it belongs to FPB7:

I did try it out and eventually got used to peddling it around.

We then got back and managed (just) to get the big arse telly up the spiralling stairs at chez_Mo. I now have a big wide-screen late 90s telly at chez_Mo. I feel like a successful person in the late 90s!

BIG THANKS to Catsinwelder, you are a real friend, thank you for helping me out!

Spotted this lovely* example today,

more filler than a branch of Halfords,

but wasn't without a certain charm of how old cars used to look when they were common shite.

Turned my disco off and can hear a noise from under the bonnet, bit like a hoover slowing down. As it's on 175K thought arse biscuits that's a knackered turbo. Popped bonnet and tried again, turns out it's coming from the centrifugal oil filter. I can live with that :)

I went to Tesco in that get-up, strolled up to the checkout with nothing but bottles of pale ale and Everyday Value crisps. Got some right funny looks.

I'm more an Old Spice bloke, because nothing is more attractive to a bird than a bloke who smells mostly of 40 year old leather but also a bit like her Dad.

Lectures for one of my university modules are done as podcasts - a PowerPoint with audio backing explaining the slides.

Halfway through one of the "videos", a slide about NTFS comes on. The audio is someone getting up from the desk, going through the door to the room and locking it, leaving the microphone on, leading to five minutes of ambient noise, and whole time you're just looking at the slide about NTFS.

^ And you're paying nine grand a year for this?  You should have a word.

If this was my son's place of education, I certainly would be...

All I learnt about NTFS I got from wikipedia.

Fred, I reckon he's bought the Cursed One, because OKK is red, a  litre and an HLS and with the auction for it ending at £281.56 it was billy bargain territory for a road legal car of that vintage.  That car has a smell and attitude to reliability all its own.

In the company car park this morning, 3 things made me grin.

First the P plate Rover 100 in that bright blue green colour.

Second the Alfa 147 GTA with epic exhaust sounds.

And finally there is another Octavia vrs in the carpark, mark 3, 14 plate, petrol, manual, so just like mine but black rather than blue.

Red squirrel spotted about 50 yards from my house  :-D  I might have to order a truckload of nuts to tempt him (/her?) into the Leylandii.
