What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Ditto, I remember seeing bangers towing caravans doing figure of 8 racing at Rochdale when I was a kid.

It's batshit mental. 3 hours of that too. I wouldn't fancy their mental state after that...

Overheard in Tesco car park, next to display of shiny new Renaults...

Her: looks nice doesn't it?

Him: aye, but I wouldn't buy it.

Her: why?

Him: it's a fucking Cadger.

Her: no, it's French, it's Kad-joor.

Him: it's a Cadger. I'm no buying a Cadger.

Well played Renault. Won't sell in Scotland.

Schadenfreude (/ˈʃɑËÂdÉ™nfrÉâ€Ã‰ÂªdÉ™/; German: [ˈʃaËÂdn̩ˌfÊÂÉâ€ÃŠÂdÉ™] is pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.

Death knell for the diesel?

So, none of these cars so equipped were sold anywhere else?

My Ole Dad amongst I dare say a Gajillion others said the Germans were Dodgy feckers

Good for them. Now if they could just build a massive V8 which fools testers into thinking it's an electric motor, that would be ideal.

I still don't quite believe it.

No, THIS is a proper figure-of-8.  Where some poor bastard spends most of his time drowning in an inverted Cortina.

On the racing line...  <_>

The cost of Mercury (Ford) parts from America. OE track rod end £4.15. Anti roll bar link £1.95. CV joint gaiters £1.85. Exhaust pipe front section £19....

Even adding on the cost of shipping (£17 total) still cheap by UK standards. If they are actually correct and fit of course.

Got a complete Mercury door mirror for £35 including shipping. It fitted fine. The whole thing. Housing, electric adjustment motor and wiring. Needed painting to match obviously, but even so.

Honda recently relieved me of £48.90 just for the glass part of the door mirror for the Accord!

I love the way that the battery appears to be roughly the same size as the engine. Maybe that's what's confusing the wee knit-wear enthusiast.

I can't help thinking that, even if Ashdown puts his hands up and says "I made it up for a laugh" DC will always be remembered for this.

Possibly interesting, possibly a touch rabid too http://theleveller.org/2015/09/british-really-laughing/

There was a warning I saw about doing things they suggest on car fix-up shows. One item was about how to evacuate gas in a gas tank you're going to repair. The TV host said use a vacuum cleaner or a shopvac to get rid of the leftover fuel. I saw a clip from the show, and he just said to do it, instead of giving a demonstration. It was pointed out in the warning that a vacuum cleaner works by a spinning armature rotating around a charged shaft, emitting thousands of sparks, so the vacuum would be a real fire threat if you got it anywhere near fuel. Also not a grin, but it's a safety hazard I never really thought of before.

I've welded petrol tanks, I lay them on the ground outside, stick a hose over a car exhaust and direct it into the tank and leave it 5 mins, then weld the tank with the engine running

Played chances two weeks ago and sent a bunch of hard earned €€€ to a guy called "Laura", (or is it a girl?) in Italy, whom i knew no more than his E-mail address and bank account number of.

Today very big grin when two heavy boxes arrived:

What is? Two complete brand new sets of Tagora V6 exhausts, my SX urgently needs one!

Classifiying these as unobtainium would be a blatant understatement.

Made my day, week & year!

New three-part spooooky ITV drama, Midwinter of the Spirit, features a Proton MPI driven by one of the lead characters.

Apart from that, it's crap.

Saw my Twat of a neighbour across the road broken down on a BP station in his New Kia big crossover thingy  today, I pulled round in my battered old Forester and wound window down and asked him

of his hassle......''Dunno - filled her up started her and it just died''  - He looked like he needed Guidance and help - so I said ''what fuel did you put in?''

He looked and I could see his face dropping - ''Hey Ho shit happens mate'' and drove off laughing me cock off

never having used a bike rack before, I was hesitant for the first mile or so. then I got stuck into my favourite local back roads, maybe it wasn't designed to cope with me sliding the back end out on tight bends but it's a lot more secure than it looks :)

I did get a few strange looks as I overtook folk on the m9 on the way home

where had I been ? the car was dumped in linlithgow and I cycled along the canal to the Falkirk Wheel, a cracking piece of engineering. two canals at very different heights are linked by this boat lift instead of a series of locks. apparently uses the same energy as boiling half a dozen kettles to do a complete rotation.

My son HATES MX5s. When I had my white MK1 he had to borrow it once and before he would drive it, he put on a hoody (hood up) sunglasses and hunkered down in the seat in case anyone saw him.

He loathed and despised my MK3 and denigrated his poor old Father something rotten...

He has been keeping very quiet about the fact he has bought an... MX5! I knew though 'cos he posted a wants ad in the forum and I had to approve the post! I kept just as quiet until last night when I felt it only fair to rip the piss in HUGE style!

His excuse? Maybe he's just matured enough to be able to appreciate them!
