Today on eBay I got asked if I'd send a handbag to 'Azerbaidjan'...

Nope.

Ickle_Seth (age 10) had a ride round the block in a friend's Caterham. Verdict 'It was FUN!'

The Nazis came to Liverpool today. "Only bullets will stop us" they claimed, "The city will burn if you try to stop us", they wrote in a letter to the Mayor.

They made it as far as lost property at the train station, where they cowered until the police took them away for their own safety.

Adolf would be pissed off - he never retreated - although thats one of the reasons he lost the Woar  mind!

I win....

I've found £25 in my purse I didn't know I had.

I'm going to have to spend it on getting the vacuum cleaner fixed though, bugger......

Turns out my wife had gone back in time this morning as petrol was only 10p a litre at Tesco in Rothwell. Full tank was about £4.

They knew about it in the shop said there was something wrong but carried on anyway. Shames they'd fixed it by the time she went back with another car

Thanks Ruffgeezer!

May have a crack at it in the week. Need to check if the clamp I bought fits first though

It'll be fine. What could possibly go wrong?

(last 1 I went on, we lost the stag. Properly.

The one before that the stag got arrested and put in the cells.)

Just relax and put your trust in your friends*

HAHAHA... trust in friends, indeed...

Seriously, it was a good laugh AND I wasn't made to do drag or look like that much of a twat (well, nothing I couldn't manage all by myself). Those off road karts were pretty good actually. A bit slow, yes but it had been raining before we got there so mud everywhere and lots of slithering about in them, so you didn't notice the lack of speed really.

Just been to Halford's for wiper blades and DPF cleaner. Blades £18.50ish DPF£9.99 with trade card £17.20ish. :-D

Standard fit 19" wiper blades from Wilko £2. I thank Ford for using cheap standard parts.

Thank you sloth, I didn't know about wilco for wiper blades, I got my last lot at Lidl.

Posted

I honestly prefer the ones from Lidl to Bosch, I don't rate their wiper blades at all.

Bosch are indeed utter tosh these days. What the hell went wrong? Mind you, Valeo don't seem half as good anymore either. I'll have to try Lidl.

Posted

Bosch normal blades do seem poor but the aero ones seem very good so far . I sell Lucas premium at work and they aren't too bad . Trico seem to be lasting well on my van .

Posted

I also spent £24 on one PIAA silicone wiper blade a year or so back, that wasn't great either, certainly not worth the money.

I do think that , with our old bangers, wipers will never last that long . The pitting on higher mileage screens seems to damage them in pretty short order .

Posted

Good point, maybe that's why I'm getting on with the Lidl wipers on boring; I had the screen replaced about a year ago.

I fitted Lucas to the Rover last year. It seemed the right thing to do. They were good to be fair. I refuse to fit aero blades as I'm a wiper geek, and they just look utterly, utterly wrong on cars that never had them from factory. In my opinion.

I remember Fatha_Duke cursing Bosch wipers over 20 years ago, as they only seemed to last half a winter. He ended up taking his '84 Accord to the local Honda dealer for (presumably NGK?) replacements at £ridiculous. In fairness they did last a lot longer.

I popped in to a local motor factors today and spotted a tidy, early 70s bay window VW camper van, done in "scene" style complete with roof rack, parked in the staff part of the carpark.

Some of the guys are into older stuff and I often get comments on whatever I'm driving or on what's lying about when they deliver parts.

"Whose is the scene camper van? It appears to be missing a rusty BMX on the roof rack."

Much hilarity ensues.

"OK. What's so funny?"

"Look at the camper."

"I did. Not my cup of tea, but cool and interesting nonetheless."

"Look at what's parked next to it. Only you could come in here and ask about the camper. Everyone today has commented on the one next to it, but not you "

It never even registered. It might as well have been a Ford Focus.

That is a Ford Focus isn't it?  Looks a lot like a Mondeo.

More to the point, in what universe are Aston Martins supposed to come with 4 doors?

Welding splatter and grindings sort them out as well! :-D

It was the owner of the group that owns the branch visiting to hand out redundancy notices personally. They're a caring kind of company like that.

Wow. On the one hand I'm impressed that the top bod actually tells people in person that he's chucking them, instead of just making the decision and getting someone else to do the dirty work.

On the other hand, I can't believe he's got the nerve to turn up in a car like that to do it.

To be fair, there was a bit of poetic licence there. It WAS the boss of the group on a rare visit. The redundancy bit was speculation.

On a bike ride earlier and a biege Morris Minor (split screen) van came past me down a narrow lane. It had to stop for a car coming the other way, which was light blue Minor Saloon!
