That's the one. She knows she won't get it but she's had a cider and gets a bit moist over Unimogs.

New moto g phone is awesome. Didn't realise how slow and battery hungry the lumia was.

Going to get it fixed under insurance then flog it.

Re Mrs_KJ: Thanks for the messages, gang.

does that double the amount of rammel you are allowed to keep on the farm?

Ha!

We're already over double our quota. I bought her the Offensive Wreck when she first applied for her provisional, but it has become a bit of a slog getting it test-ready (much like the good lady herself!)

I failed to do that in time, it'll happen soon. She's insured on the R8 for now.

PS, I happened across that "Cock and balls" Countdown episode this evening. Classic.

Mrs_KJ passed her test today.

She's insured on the R8 for now.

That's like passing your CBT and then immediately going out on Street Hawk.

First time out and already reached the pinnacle, there's nowhere to go but down after the Rover. Ruined for all other cars.

BTW, how is the Subaruki Swufty coming along?

Ha ha! Her Offensive Wreck IS happening, though I haven't updated it's thread yet. Suspension, steering, brakes all fettled, just one area of welding left to do, then bosh it back together for the test.

Yay!

If Mark sells you his Volvo, then he has no excuse not to buy OLGA.

.... and so the cycle of shite continues

.... and if Will sells Olga does that mean he can work on the ex-breadvan beta koopay of shonkiness?

That's the plan, though Samaratat is still immobile in his welding bay. He's run out of 16-guage.

I hate to be the urinator upon/of your thin slices of potatoes that have been deep fried or baked until crunchy, but I think he's sold the Volvo now.

Still, if you're heading this way with money in your hand there's always a nice* blue Frontera.

This is the perfect excuse and the one and only time you can justify buying a ropey old transit as your daily driver. Don't waste the opportunity.

Or the loan scheme Lancia Y10. Although that may not be quite so great for moving house

Watching topgear on dave, just watched a threeway rover r8 dragrace. Curious as well to watch cars being reviewed/tested that currently fill the nations scrapyards.

( think this episode is from '03-ish.)

My R plate Scenic diesel makes me smile

paid £125 2 years and 20,000 years ago and it has  been totally reliable

2 people I know have recently had to spend over £1000 fixing their financed euroblobs that are under 5 years old

This makes me grin :)

He has just mailed me, apparently it is still for sale.

Was this just some trick to get me to buy the Frontera?

Does that mean my next car is going to be a Volvo Estate? I'd have prefered a 156 v6 ;)

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I am getting one of those 156's at some point in the near future but due to the flat looking like its sold and the need to get another mortgage (see the BTL thread about the possible pitfalls such as not having access to your equity when you need it) I am skint as a muthfucka at the mo so will have to pass on it. Listen to this though (about 40s in):

Positive webuyanycar.com experience report.

Well, not webuyanycar but a Yorkshire company called 'the car buying service' or something.

The proposition was my Dad's 2007 Disastra CDTi estate with limited history, 115k on the clock and that has mainly been used for tip runs and crashing into stuff. Needless to say it was in a dire state inside and out and i didnt value it much above 700.

So he punched it into their website and didnt list any defects; a value of 1100 was returned. this morning we arrived at a grotty shopping business estate outside York to meet their agent at his office - typical mid twenties spotty chav type. Spent ten minutes writing his inspection report and blasting around the block before we returned to the office for the face off. He immediately re-typed the details into the valuation computer and it came out as 650 - his assessment was very honest, mind, as the car was in an awful condition. We immediately said we wont go less than 900, as wed discussed a reserve on the way. About 20 minutes later of him phoning people and taking more photos, we were met at 800 and shook hands. Result! This was our real reserve and what i jntended to ebay it for if the deal fell through.

All considered an hour long, albeit positive experience.

Oh and im writing this on an ipad which is shit. Why do people buy this overpriced tat?

I used Trusted Car Buyers to shift my focus.

The negative part was that I went to one of their dealers, and it was closed. I had an appointment but it was all locked up, so I phoned and got some rubbish excuse about getting delayed at another site.

Still, a mechanic eventually turned up and phoned the boss again for me, and the boss said to get it rolling by doing a test drive, so out we went.... For about a quarter of a mile, turned around and came back.

Boss turns up, knocks off £100 for a cracked windscreen and £60 for a parking dent. He does paperwork, sends the money directly to the finance company, he even ran me home. Actually really impressed apart from the timekeeping. Especially since I was selling due to chronic DMF vibration which they didn't seem bothered about, although they didn't know the DPF was also crapping itself.

I saw them put it through another dealer for £1200 markup but the repairs were going to cost me double that minimum, I assume they do it all through their own mechanics at rock bottom prices.

Would be great if we could get someone who works for one of those places to sign up on here and give us an insiders view. I bet its well interesting.
