What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I've been to a lot of festivals and gigs and can't say I've ever thrown, or even seen piss being thrown.

I've been kicked in the face by crowdsurfers at approximately 72% of gigs though, once splitting my eyebrow open. I removed his shoe as punishment and lobbed it back into the crowd.

I'm pretty sure a link was posted on here about a "tuner" who cut 'sin' grooves in the head of his Mitsubishi.

Well it has appeared else were ..

Yep!

It is surfacing all over the place now.

That was/is a poplular mod with old Volvos IIRC. I think it helps to cut back on pinking on high boost or something, although how someone with a file in his shed can achieve better results than Volvo did after spending x million developing an engine is beyond me. Im assured it works though!

I tend to give outdoor concerts a wide birth.

A few years ago went to see a Dionne Warwick concert in the gardens at the Tower Of London. Lovely summer evening, class act, class Bacharach and David songs......but people wouldn't shut the f**k up!!

Up and down out their seats, talking about their kids progress at school, discussing Eastenders, going for a piss every 5 minutes.....all whilst your trying to hear a legend (IMHO) sing "Say A Little Prayer For You" etc.

People can't concentrate for 5 mins these days. Wankers  .

Went to Prescott Hill Climb today. Very grin-worthy with lots of lovely French cars, and some fanastic stuff going up the hill. A Veyron is frankly a bit disappointing. A car from the 1910s that's basically a plank with four wheels and an aeroplane engine is frankly brilliant.

That wasn't the real highlight though. No, that award goes to the actual Bedford Astramax van I saw in the Cotswolds! No pics though as I was enjoying the roads far too much to slow down. Also saw an immaculate Peugeot 309 parked up close to the show on a driveway, a Bedford Midi camper van (shite holidays!) and a wonderful old Seventies Volvo tractor unit hauling a Pickfords heavy hauler (somewhat ironically I guess!) on a flatbed. Again - the fact that I was hurtling around a roundabout in the opposite direction meant I get the grin, but can't share a spot.

On the downside, my heavy right foot means that there's no chance the BX is getting anywhere near 50mpg on this tank!

They had one of those GTR Skylines and one of those Audi R8 things at Cholmondley and in the company, nobody actually bothered looking at them, it's like mp3's vs vinyl. I doubt I'd give a Veyron a second look to be honest, it's there to be 'second looked' at really and it's a bit cheesy to do that.

People do go ga-ga over the Veyrons. I remember the crowd gathered around one at the NEC 'Classic' motor show. Complete ignorance of the older, beautiful Bugs.

They did also have some EB110s on the hill. They seem a bit of a shite supercar, which makes them interesting.

Making me grin this afternoon was picking up my 1602 after 3 weeks being at my dad and the garage getting it's mot done and carb fixed and driving through the Essex countryside with the window open, sunglasses on and The Eagles Hotel California on the wireless, Happy days. 8)

Not making me grin so much was breaking the wiper blade of the arm whilst leathering the windscreen and then it starting to spit with rain whist i was out.

And on that note does anyone know if you can buy wiper blades that fit wiper arms with a flat end instead of the curved "J" type ends like modern cars?. (If you know what i mean!)

Got rid of my trapped wind by doing a massive rancid fart in the lift at work, just before our hated manager parked her fat Scouse arse in it.

OW D YEW LIKEH THAH YEW SKET! (etc).

Tempted to "quote" that as a signature

I am grinning in a totally knackered kind of way 'cos I have had a frankly amazing car related weekend. From driving around at stupid o'clock with a small bunch of like minded fools, to a "normal" classic show that has the best autojumble this side of Beaulieu and then on to watching/photographing a variety of cars driving with maximum verve though a south London park.

Its going to take days to recover. :D

Thank you Trigger. I didn't post anything up on here as recent works are not really A-S.

I love a good thunderstorm, me. This evening had the biggest baddest thunderstorm I have ever seen. Lightning everywhere, mostly to ground with killer leaders (probably literally actually). It was like something off the Discovery channel - actually thought the world may be ending at one point. Lasted over 3 hours. Fanbloodytastic.

Where was this? I love thunderstorms. Didn't have a single one last year. I love them when they follow an extremely hot day.

Minx looks seriously hot. Do like.

Is there a thread on RR (OMG!) about it?

Slightly belated reply... you can get adaptors (from Hellfrauds, probably elsewhere as well) for the ends of straight wipers, so you can use regular blades on them. IIRC a lot of Japanese cars from the 90s ran straight arms, and need adaptors.

Srae Ambel which is a little town south west of Phnom Penh. I tried to get footage on the mobile, but it was basically a low resolution strobe effect containing "faaarkinnelll" every 5 seconds or so.

Not many cars around here, but I'll post up a few pics soon.

Thanks MrDuke, I went into Halfords on Monday expecting them to be useless but I asked one of the young girls who went behind the counter and pulled a bucket out full of them! She gave me two and never even charged me which was pleasant of her. :D

Managed to find Excel on the PC - apparently it was there all along - (see Help I'm stupid thread) and have listed all the Grumpy Old Men (and women) and worked out how to sort by column!

It's only a little thing, but I'm not very confident with these new fangled computer thingys, and all my previous charts were done on paper, with me adding them all up, and sorting/charting manually. Now all I have to do is type in the amount of grumps, press a button and it's all in order.

little things please little minds etc!
