Inspired him to do what, take up drugs?

Finding out you can manually focus the kit lens on my D60.

Also, driving to Huddersfield.

Also, photographs. Much better than arguing with tedious course fuckwits. Yes, I'd rather spend my time shooting the shit out of a near-worthless 22 year old Volvo than spend another minute arguing with folk who couldn't give a toss anyway.

Volvo's been costing me a few quid in pez but it's been worth it. Amazon's going for work in April, confirmed it all and everything, got the panels and new bumpers b[r]ought. Went back to the Oil Can Cafe too for a proper look round and a bit of lunch.

I like that, got to be a winter contender for 2014 calendar

Sat in this earlier making "brum brum" noises - wonderful. Had a terrible driving position to boot - like sitting (shitting?) on the bog. Smelt like a 1993 breakers yard inside too! It's nice to have crazy neighbours!

He also said 'shit' and 'scrapyard' so it has to be the Escort.

All the kind concern about Domestic Management following her ice-related fender bender this morning. She's fine, and the C3's in the body shop already*.

Thanks, chaps 8)

^ Used to drive past there quite frequently, amazing that it was / is a current Ford dealer.

There was a Ford garage almost exactly like that in Bunbury, Cheshire, possibly called D A Formstones. It's a shame more garages like that don't exist anymore, now they're all aluminium/glass fronted affronteries.

It's still open, I asked them not to bin the old sign and said I would be back in the spring!

I R TELEFOAN ENJINEER :D

Having worked out that the issues with my broadband were due to dodgy wiring rather than router or filter problems, I'd contacted BT to send an engineer out to sort the problem - he was due to come on Thursday morning, which would have meant taking the morning off work. This afternoon I was getting pissed off with the slow connection my mobile gets out here, so I decided to have a look at the wiring. Once I'd taken the cover off the junction box and cleared all the superfluous wiring out of the way, it didn't look that complicated at all, so I decided to have a bash. Half an hour and £2.49 of cheap extension cable with the ends cut off later, I'm back online, and the landline is as clear as a bell. Qualz.

Last weekend my PS3 died with what is known as the yellow light of death. Sony as well as various internet forums said i was doomed, but there seemed to be some consensus that taking the very early ones (of which mine isn't) apart and blowing a hot air gun over the processor and graphics chip followed by putting on new thermal paste and generally cleaning the thing out sometimes works.

Despite mine being a later model I decided to give this a shot and spent the morning deconstructing it, warming up the mainboard and putting it all back together again. BAM, it works.

I wasn't sure how long this would last so a full system backup was in order, I plugged my external hard drive in but it wouldn't power on. A multi=meter on the wall plug lead showed that it wasn't putting out any power and it needed a 12volt supply. I searched all around the house and could not for the life of me find another AC adapter that was 12volt and then I realised that I already had a multitude of 12 volt DC power supplys sat outside my house.

And so this is why I now have a hard drive with the cabling to it held with mole grips to a battery sat in my front room. Overall this has been a successful day.

Billy, looks like you were right but it has gone now and googly earth shows a cul-de-sac of new houses called 'Swan Court' :(

Sodding typical. I tried to 'Google Earth' (or whatever it's called) earlier but couldn't find it. It was very similar to the place you pictured (or my memory says it was anyhow) but a bit smaller.

It's no surprise really, Bunbury is quite a posh place and my ex boss (major league wanker) used to live round there and probably still does.

nice to see another Grandmas House fan here!

Grandma's house would be my all time favorite comedy ever, was it not for The Office.

To celebrate someone else having actually watched it, I might have a nice pear, or a banana maybe...

SIK! Looks like I have bagged myself a free Rover Sterling + a few spares that I dont need and not only that but the fella is looking to come down to Birmingham to watch an Aston Villa match in a few weeks so it'll be delivered too.

Its a KV6 so I know I'll be in for a world of pain, but apparently, its a Grey saloon with beige interior, as I already have a Grey mk2 Sterling it could be a great spares car for that if the engine goes pop.

Nae boothar, aye.

The Saab's just failed its MOT on a leaky tailpipe and a brake light bulb that I swear was working on Saturday night when I checked it...

Still...for a 20 year old car that doesn't particularly get pampered that's not bad, and I'm not expecting the bill to be into three figures so it's worthy of the grin thread I reckon.

Just been to get it back, seems a lot quieter now. you forget just how much you get accustomed to the increased noise level when you've got a blowing exhaust. (or 'sporty' as I liked to call it! :P ) The MOT tester even uttered the old cliché 'it's in really good condition, that car' :oops:8)

It's a bit of a Marmite car the 900, there are aspects of its persona I really like and there are things about it that annoy the shit out of me, but I really can't complain about a car that's cost less than £500 in maintenance & repairs for the 2 years I've had it.

If it wasn't pissing with rain and blowing a gale I'd have taken it for the customary post MOT wash & brush up, but that'll have to wait...
