What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Yes, perhaps I souldn't have been so vague in my wording.

If you do own a fine handling vehicle that's comfortably capable of in excess of 70mph, the roads os Assynt are wonderful. Light of traffic, fast, well surfaced, no cameras and very few Polis to bother you.

I'm cuffed with my little sister tonight, She's entered the London Marathon this year for the first time in aid of raising money for Tommy's, the charity that helps towards still birth, miscarriage and premature births, Something that's affected both of us.

She's organised a charity football match, BBQ and disco today and it's raised over £700 already which is amazing, she needs to raise £2000 though before she's officially allowed to run for them which seems silly to me but i guess that how they work.

If anyone does fancy donating a few pounds to her towards the charity, no matter how small, then feel free as it would be hugely welcome. :D

Done. Nice one Lisa. BTW, Trig, your post reads like "I cuffed my little sister"

'Grinning' perhaps isn't the perfect word but I'll let you in on a secret: If you're planning to go on a night out by yourself (having friends scattered all over the globe sometimes isn't as much fun as it sounds! ), do not open a bottle of wine to 'just get into the mood', even if the nightclub is located a block away from home. You will inevitably drink it all and lose interest in going out.

Still, at least I am feeling quite content.

That's how we roll here in Suffolk! (The 5 pints of beers may have not helped my spelling tonight...).

Thanks Andy :D

Hey, no shame in that. It's exactly what lots of widely-respected top civil servants (aka 'royal families') do.

'The Seagull Has Landed'.

All being well I'll be testing out a wheezy British two stroke engine tomorrow and polluting British waterways.

Get in! I love the sound of the British Seagull on start-up:

phutphutphut bastard!phutphutphut bastard!phutphutphutphut bastard!phutphutphutphutphutphutphut bastard!phutphutphut bastard!

Yeah, just sort of found that out for the first time. Started the engine briefly in my garage to make sure it fired up and I couldn't turn it off for ages. I'm now partially deaf, half blind and still choking on 2T fumes, plus I think I've woken up 3/4 of Cheshire

Fugg me that things is LOUD, trying to find the fuel cut off button in clouds of two stroke fumes with an engine thrashing about wasn't too easy. I also discovered pushing the button in and not keeping it there wasn't too effective :D

Just been to Halfrauds and spent £6.99 having the headlight bulb in Mrs O's 2008 Fester changed.

Looked like you need to pretty much take the headlight out, and then have childs hands which bend at odd angles.

What a pig of a job, best money I've ever spent. :D

Hey a couple of these shots have come out OK. I might wait for a bit to do the rest because my netbook struggles to process them.

Unfortunately my shots of the Futureliner came out shite, which was annoying.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mossblown

Mossblown is a village in South Ayrshire, Scotland, a little bigger than neighboring Annbank. It was a coal mining community but the mines have been closed for some time now. It is a bright and vibrant village full of hard working locals.

Many races make up the population (white, orange, fake tanned, sun bedded)

SL: Likes a Camry.

It’s true. Really must put the Sport up for sale, but I jumped into it today and it started first turn as smooth as ever. And it looks like there’s a trackday at RAF Marham in September, where I’ve had a very grinworthy time in it previously.

Back from 10 days in France, the Accord didn’t miss a beat in 1255 miles and I got some great spots. Regrettably I missed out on a very smart Trigger-spec Kadett B, but did find something with angular styling in metallic brown powered by a V6 and fitted with leather seats which might be of interest here...

Also, I didn’t grin at the time but last night we got back to Newhaven and there was a humungous storm at 9-9.30pm (our Brighton correspondents may confirm this). Wipers flat out, driving very slowly, pitch black apart from when there was lightning, that kind of thing. Around a roundabout comes a mint-looking E-Type convertible, just on sidelights! Even had his headlights been on/working I can’t think of a much less suitable car to be in. I suppose he did at least have the hood up. Brings a smile to my face now though, I hope he completed his journey OK.

Hold on, you brought a Tagora V6 home with you?

Regrettably – other than the Accord - any cars I brought home were either in JPEG format on the SD card within my camera, or in small cardboard boxes at 1:64-ish scale.

And you’ll both need a second guess on the car I found...

I've never heard of a 604 Coupe, but then again I'd confused the 504 C. with the FIAT 130.

That's because I typed it wrong. It was meant to say "604 V6 Coupe". But obviously the 6 button is broken on this laptop. I mean 6... bugger....... 6-1.....! So I know it as a (6-1)04 Coupe. Actually the 5 does work. I hammered a smaller socket over it.

The 'locking wheel nut' thread.

While it might be the very kind of thing that's spoiling AS, I must admit I did have a chuckle at people getting increasingly irritated as the thread went on...

Glad he got it sorted out eventually though.

Should have just bashed a smaller socket over it...

Well, enough rioting chat. I'm pleased to announce that the car trailer is now booked to collect the BX! It's down a TINY lane in the centre of Bristol, so this is going to be one interesting recovery. I think I'll get plenty of reversing practise....
