Tomorrow I get to go on an A380 - haven't been this excited for ages. Only 2.5 hour flight but still as excited as a 6 year old on Christmas Eve.

P45 and final payslip have arrived from my ex-employer... got a smidgen under £2k in the bank... *must... not... blow... the... lot... on... shite... *

Just got my renewal invitation thing from Adrian Flux. £450 for the year. It's a bit more than I'd really like to be paying, but I do drive a group 15 car and can't really argue to get it any cheaper because it's £300 less than the cheapest quote on confused.com for a standard car, and mine's been dicked about with quite a bit.

Anyway, most importantly, I'm now 25 so the "Includes driving other cars benefit" box says "Yes".

I know most people are used to this, but it's really cheered me up that I can just jump in my mums car to go to the shop at the top of the road if it's the one at the bottom of the drive, or borrow my sisters car if mine is broken or in pieces without having to mess about ringing up and paying £CASH DOLLAR MONEY for a weeks cover.

And for all those negative persons who say we couldn't do it now - you're right, we couldn't, in the same way. It wouldn't be necessary. Typhoons and scary subs (the Bennies are pretty frightening too).

Say HUZZAH and thank God we're British.

I'm grinning as my missus has ordered me a 600x400 print of that cover

Don't forget the cover is 'usually' 3rd party only for driving other cars..

that's brilliant ashmicro. My brothr use to have a reproduction of a WW2 era Royal Navy poster. That was ace but I have no idea where he got it (it was a few years ago mind)

My mate's just appeared at the door with a C-reg Nissan Micra in Autoshite Racing Colours... stunning. Photos to follow in the next few days when I get to see it in daylight...

Making me grin is realising Ashmicros taste in posters is similar to mine, Triggers wife and Wuvvum work a stones throw away from me (King William St, commute to Fenchurch St every day) and I won a forty quid at the bookies today on one of those "Oh alright, pop a tenner on that for me" unresearched bets.

Shepherds pie eaten, kitchen cleaned, tea and autoshite on the go. Simple things but they make me happy!

YES!!!! I have been fighting with the boot on my Z31 rear brake caliper for 3 FOOKING DAYS!! THREE DAYS!!! The little bastard is in there now.

That's right. Saturday night and I'm rebuilding an old brake caliper. That's how awesome I am. Maybe this hould be in the grump thread.... :?

Arsing about with horrendous old cars.

Spent four hours today mucking about with the Escort and few minutes on the Vectra. Despite the freezing cold weather I had a whale of a time and forgot how much I enjoy doing it.

Just got back in from a quick trip to France. Bought a few French car mags, a few beers and assorted food, had a nice trip on the ferry and the roads were pretty quiet. Excellent indeed.

Mrs Ramrod has just told me that BBC Entertainment is going to start showing Two Pints. Woohoo! :D Sheridan Smith!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

Made it to Plymouth in one piece. Possibly the easiest drive ever, the MR2 seats being remarkably comfortable on a long trip. Just over half a tank of fuel used which isn't bad at all

Bit embarrassing to admit, but anyone else just see that bloke with the dreadlocks on that "Take me out" program just walk straight into the wall when he was with that hot girl? That made me laugh, lots.

*phone rings*... "Hello, Autoshite Worldwide Bodycentres, how may I help you?"

"Yes, hello... I've got a Hyundai Pony and I don't think it's quite shite enough. I was wondering terribly if you wouldn't mind having a bit of a look at it, in a Shite my Ride sort of way."

"ORLY? Well you've come to the right place for that, bring it over..."

*** wavy lines to denote time passing *** ... "Hello Mr Ashiteist? Your car's ready!"

Ebay purchase #eleventy two.

Happened to see a job lot of wiring bits that were local, retirement/clearing out sale. I was the only bidder and have just been to pick them up. Real nice old chap, had been in the trade all his life, touring local garages/dealerships sorting out electrical problems for them. Had fond memories of Rootes stuff and had a sit in the Hillman before telling himself off to stop reminiscing! Better than that was the Aston Martin DB6 sitting under covers. "Used to use it all the time but I use the Mondeo mostly now" though he had been out in the Aston at the weekend. I asked if he'd had it long. He though for a minute before coming up with , "Well I bought it in 1973." It looked in really nice "used" condition, a bit of microblistering on the paint etc.

Just been digging through the boxes of stuff I bought. Probably enough to make it worthwhile and I won't ever need to buy a car aerial in my life again. There's a single used Lucas L692 red lens too. I suspect this may be what's used on the DB6. :D

First, this isn't in the wrong thread... just read through to the end of the post ;)

Our oldest cat has been ill recently, she had an abcess in her mouth and although antibiotics were helping, she needed surgery this morning to clear out the dead skin and gunk. This is always a risk, and especially so with a 17 year old cat, so after I dropped her off I went to work and tried not to think about it for a bit.

About half past one, the vet rang to say that Chaos had passed away on the operating table. Apparantly her heart just stopped, there was the usual last gasp then no breathing either. They left her on the table, and rang me straight away with the bad news. I then rang my wife to let her know and set about tidying up so I could collect the body and bring her home for burial in the garden.

Just after 2.00, while I was telling a friend what had happened and we were discussing cats, life and death, my phone rang again. It was the vets........

The cat came back to life :o

15 minutes "dead" on the table, the vet returned to move the body and clean up. As he lifted her from the table she opened her eyes and miowed at him (and presumably he shit a brick... I would have) so they now have her in recovery and I can go and collect in about half an hour.

I'm at home, explaining to Mrs S why the dead cat is now an un-dead cat
