What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Had to pay too much for insurance earlier and they wanted to see proof of my 9+ years no claims bonus.

Stupid one call insurance have attached it to my classic policy even though it doesn't count and isn't building up any more. They will only remove it for £40,wankers.

Why the grin? Churchill insurance, who wanted the proof, sorted everything! They looked at my policy documents on email. Didn't care that it was attached* and said it's now on their insurance and I can carry on as normal next year. No fuss, just common sense used and applied :-)

They normally call it 'lodged' with a classic policy. It's a good thing really as it keeps it live if unused on on a normal policy for over two years.

Talking of grins, took Lucky out for a walk from my parent's house & around the corner I meet a bloke with a Sierra sapphire Azure, Capri laser and a mk2 Escort. Lovely collection of well loved old shitters all in excellent standard condition.

YesterdayI spotted a stranded Inca yellow Triumph Stag on the forecourt of the local pez emporium. The car turned over but wouldn't start.

Distributer cover off and only one set of points sparking. Coil very, very hot too. I whipped off the coil on the Toledo as new one to be fitted and he found the old condenser. Replacement bits fitted and she started perfectly. Nice to help out a fellow Triumph person.

Today whilst driving along the A10, I spotted a brown Ford Capri....... Mk1 (pre-facelift). Lovely, lovely condition. Had a bit of a chat with the owner whilst sat at the traffic lights, turns out he has a facelift Mk1 at home in yellow. He seemed quite impressed when I asked if it was Daytona Yellow (which it was) lol. Funny just how small the car looked.

Spotted a young bloke driving a blue and rust coloured Triumph Herald 12/50 saloon down Great Western Road yesterday. Seemingly I'm not the only knackered Triumph fancier around here... I also saw a young lady in a very tidy looking Inca Yellow Stag t'other day!

My missus sometimes mixes her words up but yesterday she came out with the best ever!

Watching animal cops Huston on sky they featured a little dog that had a bad head injury where you could see its skull.

The missus blurted out that you could see its BRAIN BONE.

FFS.

I hope the stag owner showed his gratitude for such a gesture and is'nt slagging you off on a stag forum for fitting non genuine parts.

Ah, you were driving a Laguna. That explains the "happy" face

Saw quite a few elderly cars out today but the one that really surprised me was a metallic brown Opel Monza.  No photo, unfortunately, but it was like this and the number plate ended had something like HSE at the end.  Certainly more surprising than the Mk3 Cortina, pre-war MG TF and even the glorious sounding Mk2 Jaguar (or perhaps Daimler, given the engine note).

TC, TD and TF were all postwar. TA and TB were pre war.

TC, like this.  I *always* get that wrong.

EDIT:  having said that, it looked more like a TB.  Very narrow and upright, very skinny front arches, like this.
