Just for us bus fans.

I also posted this about a year ago now! :) (not sure if in this thread or another)

and I showed it to my mum at the time, and she thoroughly enjoyed it :)

I highly recommend giving it a watch if you have not seen it! (the real life stories really bring the pictures and period video they use to life)

What is the car at 5:36 - doesn't look like 100E to me!

Not a 100E - possibly a Taunus?

Watch this rather than the shite Christmas holidays films on TV.

Riley One-Point-Five/ Wolseley 1500 were not in production in 1952.

Here is the best screen shot I can get.

I have been though some of the years between 45 and 53 to see if there is anything similar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Cars_by_year_of_introduction

Nearest I could find was theStandard 8 , (with some disguising). It was introduced the same year too.image.png.83bb46cd87a13e58b01b2094072b9b9c.png

These old video's are cool.

Watching this one & the Incredible  Seven (reel 2)  I was struck by the assembly line guys using the old pump action Yankee screwdrivers. I bought an old one of those for Christmas & it's ability to just "fuck off" at the first opportunity & spear anything nearby must have made for quite a bit of  "fixes to paintwork" being needed !

That's a really interesting find. Early 50s prototype development car after the Mk1 Consul?

Odd isn't it - at first I thought it was a disguised prototype but the roof etc is different. Mystery. Seen the back?

I thought at first maybe a 50's Alfa saloon but the bonnet is wrong. As it's a Ford proving ground , a European prototype Edsel ( judging by the bonnet and grille ) perhaps.

Posted

Edsel styling crossed my mind too but the actual production car wasn't till much later in 1957/8. Maybe they had drawn it up early 50s though. Have never seen that vid before, that's made my day, there's a serious lack of 50s and 60s prototype Ford material out there. Anything I find gets posted on one of the two pics threads on here.

I learned to drive in a K reg Fiesta Flight, and I remember a teacher at my school having a pre-launch one with no badges or emblems on it anywhere except the centre of the steering wheel

I don't think that unidentified motor is an 8 or a 10 the back wing looks wrong. Also I was looking at where the door handles are, does it look like there's 2 lots together- as in maybe suicide doors at the back?

I did wonder if it might be foreign. Fiat or Lancia perhaps??

I don't think it is a Fiat or Lancia, as I used to be involved in such things.  It must be a Ford prototype of some kind - very interesting.

I reckon you're right it might be a prototype.

Here's some pics of a crashed 100e prototype. Different front as this is a 2 door so probably an Anglia but note what looks like an external spare wheel at the back so may be something similar??

Fantastic. And fascinating. There's a whiff of Mk1 Escort about that rear side window, in a 15-years beforehand way.

The car in the main screen shot seems to have a 100E style track control arm visible.  Also quite large wheels - 15 or 16 inch?  From the rear, wheel angles are interesting, IRS?

Just found this by accident. Was click-baited as its a Delorean, but didn't realise until about a minute in, its autonomous driving.
