That lime green Wartburg Estate is a beaut.

Although, I wouldn't fancy driving it back to Australia...

This has caused some serious movement in the trouser department, especially for less than a grand.

And just look at that interior, that isn't just stylish, it is right hand drive. I wonder how it ended up out there.

Stuffed in a container before the owner noticed it missing, perhaps?  Or am I just cynical?

Nipped into the shop for a sandwich earlier and the shop assistants were talking "have you got that woodburner yet?"  "no,  I still need to get it collected from Bulgaria".

I mentioned what we were up to and she asked what sort of old car I was buying.  I said I wasn't sure but possibly a Lada and she replied that I should definitely buy a Trabant.  She had one while she lived out there and loved it,  she did admit that while it was great for 14km drives into town it probably wouldn't have made the 3.5 hour drive to the border but a good one would probably make it back if I took it steady.

Are we bringing a woodburner back with us now then? Might be handy if it gets cold.

This is the whole premise of Shitefest Bulgaria ‘18 although not sure there’s a budget limit

I've managed to make a mate very enthusiastic about all this, to the point where he would accompany me next year for a repeat performance......

he has been busy sending me adverts, this in particular has me excited:

Well, someone's got to top Heidel_Kakao's Datsun collection thread, eventually...

Rhd....strange choice of car to take over but heyho

It's a JDM import by the look of it. That one certainly makes most commercial sense for me, with my Retro Japanese hat on. Plus the doilies are awesome.

What tidemark? 511 Euros

Is yellow a national colour or is it just cheap?

Not only yellow with an amazing tide-mark, but it's a 1.3 automatic. The masochist in me finds this oddly appealing.

DW: Any chance you could get paid/sponsored for doing this for one of the mags?

I'm sure unscrupulous contractors could find a way to write this off as a business trip and/or company car purchase,

That's the battle I've got inside me. Part of me wants a Wartburg, which is no commercial use to me at all (other than YouTube), while part of me wants to have a great feature for Retro Japanese. I've ruled out Classic Jaguar...

Not sure I could get sponsored by the mag, but as I hold the budget for it, it's up to me what it gets spent on...

I really REALLY want a wartburg tourist. In a vivid colour, and running a 2 stroke

Definitely not cow, probably some kind of turtle that grows fur.

It's been upholstered using the old set from Blockbusters

They skinned Bob Holness? Kinky.

I went to the library the other day and asked for some books on turtles,

Librarian asked "Hardbacks?"

I said yes, with little heads.

This Lada is strangely appealing. Excellent condition, low mileage, bargain price. What more could you want?

I really like that. I'd say a LHD LADA would be a better bet than RHD too
