That's precisely the method used.  I was given two other methods to try to no use too.  The car just doesn't want to know.  If I pull the fuse for alarm/immobiliser it cuts off the fuel pump and I suspect cutting the wires for the immobiliser will do the same.

Assume you have already seen/tried this method, but here it is anyway...post-5532-0-17952600-1460402809_thumb.png

I've come across a few rovers that wouldn't accept the EKA code - crappy door lock switches messes it up, marginal ones that can't cope with the code but still work the central locking.

Take the doorcard off and the lock out and work the switches on and off manually.

Got my mr2 booked in for an mot on Wednesday. I'm out tomorrow so decided to try and free up the front o/s brake tonight. Didn't get started until 7pm and it was raining but pressed on making the most of the lighter nights. The sliders were a bit gummed up so freed them off a bit and regreased them. Used a g-clamp to push the piston in and then the brake pedal to move it out. A bit too far though as i then managed to bend the g-clamp. Hit it with a lump hammer a few times to straighten it out and finally managed it to get it all together before it got dark. Just having a shower then will take it out for a quick test drive. The neighbours were giving me strange looks.

Edit: bonus shop keepers shite in the background.

Heading to Southport I realised that I had'nt connected one of the focuses ' intercooler pipes properly. It had little power and sounded like Miles Davis was alive and well under the bonnet. As you would expect, I had no tools to fix it, so limped onwards.

This was purchased from poundland -

As you would expect for one pound the bits look like they were made by a metalwork student who would rather be wagging school. However it allowed me to reposition the clip and restore normal service.

I have seen the future of tools - his name is Tommy Walsh.

My 214 has one working keyfob and won't accept the EKA. I now keep a spare battery in the glove box at all times after being stranded with it once.

Last night I met up with HIRST_UNIT for a curry:

He was extremely busy dubbing bees over my knob van video, but found the time to speak to me.

He's now an outspoken columnist for the Wakefield Super Protagonist.

Took the Piazza up to Locomotion in Shildon; heard 'why aye' used in context for the first time ever.
It sort of works (but sort of doesn't). Managed 26mpg back down the A1 which is stunning for a JR120.

DESIGNATION_HIRST then disappeared down the off license, the mard.

Vulg, what's the situation that's caused the immobiliser to come on? If it's flat fob batteries, pressing the buttons to discharge it after the battery has been removed seems to be an important step, ask me how I know.

Indeed, my MGF shat its battery for the same reason because its a spiteful, aggy little shit of a thing.

Flushed and cleaned the Pug 205's expansion bottle again today.  After convincing me last week that it had got early stage OMGHGF, it has not really misbehaved at all for the 300 miles I've done since.  It has always (in my 12 months of ownership) randomly and intermittently shown a couple of dashboard warning lights, and today the 'Diagnostic Warning Light' came on briefly several times, but the coolant warning light which had remained on for most of the time on Saturday stayed off for the 60 or so miles I did today.  It has a coolant temperature gauge which has continued to read normal temperatures; coolant level is normal; oil level is normal and it still looks clear and golden. It drives absolutely fine.  Do I trust it?  Not completely.

Took the car for a test drive.  The result is...... it snaps left under braking and as it was wet hard presses of the brake pedal result in the front n/s wheel locking.  So i may have made it worse.  It did get better after a while but i think it's time to bite the bullet and get a reconditioned caliper.  I could try and rebuild it with a kit but the idea of that scares me and i'm not confident that that i will be able to do it right.

rimz_yo are getting stripped and powder coated (Old Man's decision).

It's costing more than the wheels did...

Because Rover. I have no idea what's caused it, just that it happened.

Our 205 pops up the engine management warning light on occasion, which did scare me the first time I saw it appear. However, turning it off and on again usually gets rid of it, or it used to, anyway - I don't even bother doing that now, as it's obviously not something to worry about. Therefore, I'm guessing your diagnostic warning light will be just as flippant (ours is a GTI, so different warning lights, I think).

Good work Joan Burgers! I was worried that I may look like a massive kiddy fiddler in those photos, but that greyscale trick has sorted it.

Be more concerned that you look like a bloody layabout; where's the jacket and charity shop tie? I don't see the rear grab handle hooks being utilised. Pffft.

I'm dismantling the slightly corroded P4 to get it off my lawn as there has been some less than positive comments about its continued presence outside the house. The seats have been sold revealing a set of very early seat belts. They look like they were fitted from new which was 1959, and they are diagonal only with no lap belt. I've never seen any like this before, anyone come across this type?

Vulg, just take the immobiliser box off and post it and the fob to that Technozen dude, he will sort it for 30 quid ish. Don't go cutting wires as that won't work.

Got the Maestro back yesterday. It's no longer broken, has a full MoT and a working (and not leaking) heater. The dude ended up replacing a good portion of the rear 12" of the inner and outer sill on the passenger side as the rot was more extensive than we initially thought. However, he's done an absolutely fantastic job and it's not the usual garage plate 'n' seal...the rot has been cut out, the welds ground flush and he's even used a spot welder to do the lower flange as factory original. I'd definitely recommend him if anyone in the Kent area needs any jobs doing on their cars.

I then started fitting the parts I got from the breaker Maestro a few weeks ago. I fitted a much better front indicator, a replacement rear washer pump and the rear seltbelts. It got a good clean inside and out as well. Thoughts then turned to the rotten N/S/R door, which I attempted to repair ages ago but made a hash of it and it's also a different shade of beige to the rest of the car! Anyway, I saw another Maestro on Ebay breaking for spares in Faversham, so drove over there on the proviso that the door was good and when I got there, yes it was better than most but was starting to go in the skin and frame, so I left it.

I'm now looking at this. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-BFA32017?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PLA&gclid=CjwKEAjwlq24BRDMjdK7g8mD6BASJABBl8n3eSz6_oTOrpP75YGXfLHqWdG4TWYpaRQoZHsR71S_CRoCDMLw_wcB

I've never reskinned a door before, but it's a case of "how hard can it be?" I've got a BRG door off the breaker which is in better condition than the original, and has a very good frame (and glass which I wouldn't want to damage) but the skin is rotten in a couple of places.

It's good to have the Maestro back, anyway.

If you ever get a cheap dizzle 306 estate in Billy, let me know; I need a unit hack to move stuff between units and I'd rather not fash any of my current fleet up with THE FILTH.

New  plastic arch trims arrived for Nugget today.  Fitting was going to commence but it is far too wet today.  Noticed a little bit of rust staining (not bubbling, thankfully) has reappeared on one of the sill ends so I'll deal with that the same time the new arches go on.  Still on the lookout for a good unpainted early front bumper with a decent badge which is proving less than easy to locate.  I've found some since getting Nugget and they've all had worse scuffs and more damaged badges than the one fitted.  Do not want to fit the later, earlier to get bumper.  It may be an option to splice the early section of the old one into a good condition facelift bumper, a lot of faff that, mind.

Renault clutch due to arrive between 3pm and 4pm so I shan't be doing that job until tomorrow and I've got the local autofactor on the task of tracking down the consumables I'm after for the Renault too.

I'll have yet another go with the Rover having discharged the buttons in the fob and if it doesn't do the trick then it really will be immobiliser off and sent away to someone to get sorted.

Princess?  Yeah, that can wait.

Will do, Jon. There is one on eBay somewhere in the N.W but I think it's £200 with no test so too salty really.
