Snapped by Keith, who is probably the next in line to end up with a CX after contact with Andrew's magical gold pallas.

It's a relatively conventional rack, mechanical failure, top bearings, anything really. Could also be FDV issue.

It may not have an FDV as a series 2 car; if it has anti sink it won't have an FDV.

Yeah, but I don't know how old it is from the picture, so cover the bases. Last time someone said "Oh, it can't have an FDV, it's an SII" to me, they almost ended up with a Fart Distribution Valve, because it was a sinker.

But now I've realised that it's disabled class tax so now I'll have to fill another form before I can drive it... Not like I've owned it for two months or anything.

(It's for this in case you missed it)

I've just bought another small Suzuki for not much money. It's silver (mostly).

It's sat for three years, hadn't been started in a few months but fired right up with a new battery and the brakes aren't stuck. WCPGW etc.
Also GLS spec, central locking, electric windows and electric mirrors but no power steering. That's a bit mean is it not?

Fan puns encouraged.

This is still done easiest at your local post office.

I had to do the same when I HAZ BROUGHT my 405, it took three minutes, the confirmation of the direct debit was in my email inbox ten minutes later,

the updated V5C arrived after the usual week-and-a-half.

Do I need any other documents? Doovla website seems to suggest that I need to apply with an MOT certificate which I don't have.

You must apply with:

MOT, public service vehicle or goods vehicle test certificate or exemptions (V112/V112G)

You don't need any documentation minus the V5, they just check it online now.

I changed the Cortina's tax class from light goods to historic about a year ago and had no issues just walking into the post office with the V5.

FUCK EVERYTHING.

Loaded a bunch of tools into the blue Swift so I could go fettle the silver one and what happens? The blue one shits it's other brake calliper. Presumably the same fault as the other one in the summer; corroded tae fook piston.

I started the Honda today for the first time in a month. Wizzed into life like it had been started yesterday. Took it to the car wash and then had the tyres blown up. It does drive nicely but feels really weird after the big one. Feels slightly claustrophobic with big pillars and so on, plus, you seem to sit really low in the Honda...

Had three calls and an e-mail about the car so far and it has reminded my why I hate selling cars nowadays.

First one was a chap from Leicester who wanted a taxi for his brother...

Second was a guy who wanted to know where Torquay is...

Third was another potential \eastern taxi driver who wanted to know what colour the interior was (says in the ad) but I twigged after he rang off, he was asking if the interior was ALL black or black and cream (it's the latter) and I got it wrong and said it was all black. I am a berk...

E-mail was asking where I am, and how much will I drop the price by.

I can see me getting the hump before long and selling it to WBAC just for the peace.

WWhy not replace the caliper with a full car that's stuck on my drive!

We'll it drove there but it's now on axle stands and I don't know if I'll ever get round to welding up the drivers side

And I can't weld so I think we'll get equal use out of it.

Just catching up on everything as I haven't been on loads over the past few weeks due to other things going on in life.

Decided to kick the new year off in style with a collection - this was the scene around 2.30 this afternoon:

That's such a nice car, I'm sad to see it go but I haven't got time for it at the moment. I'm really pleased that it made it back without any issues.

Boring_stuff.

Well, I haven't bought a car so I fail there. Doubt as if I will anytime soon anyway :D

So, two-day I have been mostly; driving a K11 Micra in and out of Worcester/Bromsgrove.

Last week I spotted that Motherly_Sterling_Transport, a one-K11 Micra was out of MOT. So the task was up to me to sort this out, the very least I could do. Micra was booked in and off I went to THAT Birmingham *shudder*.

This morning saw Ma driving to work and then me driving to Mahmouds garage in order for an MOT to be issued. On the way though I was nearly involved in a head collision, I was driving up a fast A-road towards Halesowen, the corner opened up I saw some Red Honda thing travelling towards me at some speed on my side of the road, as I slowed down and steered towards the side, twat_driver in Honda got back onto his side of the road and carried on barreling down the road.

I arrived early at the garage so decided to take the Micra for a wash 'n' hoover. Back to the garage, the Micra unusually was first on the list of MOTs. I was confident it would pass but wasn't aware that small failures were developing. Apparently it failed the emissions first time but passed second time. The one sill was starting to show signs of developing rot, the other side on a repaired section was starting to rust.

A couple of bulbs and a CV boot were really all that was needed to secure a pass. Eventually I received the certificate of pass!

Whilst at the garage, I also found myself driving other stuff, nothing exciting, an '04 Vauxhall Astra that sounded rather strange, a Mercedes A-class, Hyundai i20, Peugeot 208 or summat and some other stuff I can't seem to recall.

Micra preformed admirably, but as usual a couple of other drivers seem to take it up on themselves to remind me that I was "lower" than themselves to which my response was; "yes, I may be in a Micra, but I'm no worse or better than you, so get used to it".

Oh yeh, I was also offered an '03 plate Corsa 'active' 3-door in Black for £200, but the engine sounded like it had some top-end knocking/tapping going on, not the usual Corsa tappety noise either. Any ideas? Not that I'm interested or owt.

Anyone remember that all-white nova saloon that was briefly for sale on here before the seller got the hump?

No photo, but I spied it lashed on the back of a beaver-tail, heading towards the M5......

Probably not the place to ask but does anyone know of any cheap storage In the Gateshead area.

Ideally somewhere I can work on them as well.

There's the usual caravan storage types places for £5 pw you just can't work on them and I want to be able to store a couple of cars I can break as well as my van.

It's a Corsa, they all sound fucked. No doubt from having the balls thrashed out of it and not a penny spent on maintenance.

Posted

If the Corsa was a 1.0 3pot could it be timing chain? or is that the 1.3 diesel?

Call Billy, he loves to buy extra shit Vauxhalls.

Scimitar has been earning its keep this week. clocking up over 800 miles+ From South Coast to Scunthorpe, Nottinghamshire, Sheffield, Huddersfield, Preston, Oxfordshire and Home.

The last leg was interesting as Dave had persuaded me to collect some small storage units for him....

The car was briefly visited by electrial gremlins when the light swich melted itself and the wiper switch (much used on this trip) decided it did not want to stop the motor. However it rained so much this wasnt that big a problem....! Both switches were replaced this afternoon.

In other news some vented discs for this have been purchased and have gone off to the IOW for machining, So in the new year It will hopefully get an overdue brake upgrade / overhall.
