If you look in almost any car handbook it says that a litre every 1000 miles is acceptable. It's a good way to get themselves off the warranty hook.In reality that amount would worry me, anyway.

Posted

With one exception (1.8 C5) I haven't had a car that needed any topping up between changes this century, and I've had some worn-out crocks.

Posted

The Meriva does 1l every 1k. Although I think it does it all at the same time. I checked the levels on the day I did the exhaust (excuse for being out of the house longer) and the levels were fine after approx 700 miles since the last topup. If it pings the light on in the next 200 miles I'll know it waits until mile 999 then dumps a litre out somewhere...

I lobbed half a litre in anyway...

Big thanks to the vauxhall forums. Bailed me out the shit concerning a veccy c.

Oddly, I am hankering after another vectra.

I have concluded that a low mileage Audi A6 with light coloured leather is not much use for a family of four and a dog - our focus does most of the labouring.

I have never really gelled with the car - don't get me wrong it is nice - but audi bm's and mercs are not me.

I know my level, and it is'nt prestige cars.

I'm not going to do anymore to it until next year, when I shall re-cabletie the front passenger wheel arch back together after hitting a very tiny deer last week, then put it in for the mot

Bought a dipstick on Ebay for the XM. It's the wrong one. I've had an utterly shit year for buying stuff on ebay. I really should stop it.

Check me with three updates in three days...

When washing the car the other day I noticed that the osr mudflap and bumper were making a bid for freedom and wondered if that was the actual cause of a knocking on left hand turns that I'd assumed is a jiggered wheel bearing.  Well, turns out it's not, but I did effect a temporary permanent repair by zip-tying it approximately back in place.

Couldn't screw it back on as there's not really enough metal left there to bolt to.  Which brings me to the next issue.  Whilst locating a suitable spot to jack the car I literally poked my fingers through the sill.  Shitcakes.

Someone's been here before with some fairly shonky repairs.  (Not that I can pass judgement as I don't know how to weld at all - but I hope nobody received actual cash payment for there efforts here.)

D55710F2-3DCF-4126-B307-86969B6C6A3D_zps

This will need urgent attention, obviously.

Anyone have any recommendations for good welding services in or around Coventry?  Or even want to volunteer for the job?  I'll pay the going rate, of course.

If I'm going to shell out for metalwork repairs I want a proper job doing, not just a quick patch that will barely last to the second mot.

Thoughts anyone?

Genuine lol Lukas!

Unfortunately my front garden isn't big enough and I'd need to rent a bfo crane to get it in the back.

I needed to move my MX5 a few inches forward, so rather than start it up I decided to push it.  Perhaps due to the diet of Cheeselets and Haribos I've been living on for the past week, I have acquired super strength and flung the thing into the side of the garage, simultaneously running the rear wheel over my toe.

I do hope this is not the start of a 'bub2006'-style run of luck for me.

Daughter took the ex- FathaAngry 600 to the car wash today, probably the first time it's been cleaned for 6 months- it comes up lovely . As long as you don't look at the Big dent in the back, I must keep an eye out for a Nightfire boot lid , not spending more than a tenner mind.

And this is why we don't lend Richard cars he has a historic weakness for.

FPB7s CX is designed specifically to make you buy one once you've driven it..

Don't ask how I know;)

Shit. I was going to ask for a borrow. This sounds like it'd be too dangerous. We cannae risk it cap'n!

I bought the CX 25 GTi Auto (72K miles, last owner before dealer 14 years and a Citroën-book-author, sunroof not rusty but sealed, solid but surface rusty underneath) because having been running about (far too much) in a certain gold 2.0 Pallas and remembered that the CX is the best car in the world.

No thread yet. I've so much on I need to postpone it a couple of weeks. But, back behind the wheel of a CX that is mine mine mine. Almost tempted to put my private plate on it but it already has RK in the numberplate :D

That's the GSA I saw in Bucks a few days ago. Miserable fucker completely ignored my wave (I was driving my FE Victor).

I've been digging into the history of my CX and it seems to have had an interesting past.

It was a one off built specially with in built subliminal messaging and was to be the first in a series of cars to be used by dealers as the "demonstration car".

Salesmen would entice any prospective purchaser into the showroom with a "no obligation" trial of the CX. The subliminal car would then be lent to the customer and told to drive it around for a while.

It worked due to a novel hydro kinetic connection between the drivers spine and the seat. This fed an instant desire to replicate the experience of your own CX directly into e customers brain, the result being, when the car was returned to thei showroom another sale was guaranteed.

Sadly, European legislation outlawed the car befor it could be deployed citing the little known caveat "you've gone too far this time Citroen" and the pro type was thought to have been destroyed, or at the very least locked in the deep dark bowels of the forgotten storage compound for evil cars.

However, it escaped and has secretly continued its original mission of compelling all those who drive it to purchase a CX, even long after the model ended production.

It is only through extensive research that this information has been found out.
