Sorry to hear about Blake. I briefly met him in passing when I had my hand up your princess. Sad times indeed

Here's a picture of happier days.  His terrible farts will forever stay with me.

What a beautiful fella, i can't help but think his thoughts in the picture are "what the bloody hell has he bought now? I can't look at it any longer"

Mike and I just got back from the vet's, without Blake dog.  Sad times.

So very sorry for you mate.

Oh hey, it gets better.  Just learned my Grandad has Parkinsons.

Aw, bugger.  Sympathies for that too.  The treatments have improved a lot in the last few years though, as I understand it: I have an elderly uncle who was diagnosed with PD about 10 years ago and he's not doing too badly with it.  Still shitty news though, obviously.

Grandad is in his 90s and has survived several heart attacks and a triple bypass.  I doubt medication or treatment of any sort is going to be of much use at this point in his life.  It just doesn't seem fair, a man who's given so much to so many should end up with such a horrible illness when he should just be enjoying sitting at home with a cuppa and a fat dog watching the horses on the telly.

Sorry to hear about the dog Vulg. People don't understand unless they have had a dog, farts and all.

Earlier when I took an alternator in to have its bearings replaced, i called into a local scrap yard to see if they had anything interesting in, my god the realisation hit for how low scrap value is, looking at the stockpiled cars at the bottom of the yard and also cars i would deem as modern are littering the place.

At the bottom of the yard look how many rows deep the stockpiled cars are

Our local scrap collector has ended up having to start doing gardening work and handyman stuff because he can't cover his expenses with the price of scrap being so low.  It must be terrifying to have your only source of income dry up so quickly and completely.

I haven't seen cars stacked up in a yard like that for years.  What with that, adverts for sub-£100 MOT'd runners and cars being abandoned on street corners, it's like going back to 1996.

Really to be bored of grey Sierras?, right then here we go then!

many moons ago i had a wedgewood blue one of these.

mine didn't have XR3i wheels though, it had steelies with the lotus esprit plastic hub caps.

it was mint.

it needed a new radiator and clutch at 120000 miles but that it was all.

a brilliant car, i sold it for £450 in 2001, and i still miss it.

J184WHL. gone, but not forgotten.

I won't lie, I only paid £250 for the Sierra but have sunk another £400 into it getting into the state it is today. Not to shabby I feel.

I really need to tune the carb though as it keeps stalling itself when you stop now.

Yep,I'm on a 3 day week because of it.

Sorry to hear of your Grandad and dog too :-(

Focus is booked into LPG specialist tomorrow. He thinks it isn't pump as it will switch and idle from cold but when warm it won't do gas. Worst case scenario is new pump which is £400.

I am getting a courtesy car for the time it is in there and I am mildly excited as I am hoping for something nice and shonky...

Also have agree to buy Mr Davidson's Mercedes to see if Missus moog can be tempted with it. If not I might nick bits off if for my brothers merc.

I've not used the beige cortina for nearly two months now due to it smoking its arse off, which i'm 99% certain is the stem seals........it's also starting to develop the familiar pinto cam tap (i've done the clearances three times and its still there)

I've got a nos cam kit and a head gasket set sat here.....i've also got tomorrow off

How would a live tinkering thread sound?

Even though i work in a garage, it's a bodyshop so we've only one mechanic and he's a right grumpy cunt so some support/advice would be appreciated.

I'll follow it and make not very helpful comments if you like? Will give me something to do in the office!

Late to the thread as usual.. I'll miss Blakey dog lots. :(

I feel better that I had a mad play of "got your paws, ahh don't bite me!" with him last night.

It's shocking how quickly they can turn around and go downhill, but at least it was mercifully quick. Which I guess is a good thing.

Sorry Angyl, losing a pet must be shit. All sympathies directed at your good self.

I was speaking to a scrappy today, the price has really gone through the floor.

It was €120 for a car at the peak, now €10 and it's possible you will have to pay them shortly.

I bet most of those weighed in cars are in better nick than the shite I've run over the years.
