Polo E? You're never going to get anywhere.

Be very, very glad it's a manual.

Yes that's the one 55 BHP apparently. Does that mean it's not very desirable? Result.  It went ok to be fair when I took it out on a test drive. Looking forward to minting it up over the weekend with the T Cut.

DVLA IN EFFICIENCY SHOCKER!!!

My licence was almost due for renewal and I'd lost the photocard bit, so decided to renew a bit early.  Applied online on Sunday night, the new licence arrived in the post today.  Most impressed, much as it pains me to admit it.

Yup, took a week for my change of address to come through on a new licence. And the v5 for the octavia turned up today- I bought it on the 2nd june!

Don't know about undesirable but I don't see nearly as many as I used to, and the E is uncommon - basic paint colours make them obvious.

Mum used to have a 75bhp 1.4 Twist auto. Didn't go up hills very well and 70 felt like a chore. Not much spec at all, metallic paint, alloys and a heater temp dial with numbers on was all you got as extras on a Twist. VAG CD player is a bonus but a lot had them changed - tape as standard. Mirrors don't fold I don't think.

If it goes 'bing' when you put the ignition on, ignore it, that's the service indicator, can't remember how you disable it. Rear seats are comfy, but that's only to make up for the suspension, which isn't all that. EPC light can be nothing, but can also mean limp home mode - if it goes into limp home restarting might clear it.

You can just about fit a bike with the front wheel off in the back with the seats down, but it's a push if you have a tall passenger.

Ruffgeezer - if you're desperate for a motor lmk, I can lend you the Merc, or Aerodeck, I've not looked at hot start issue on the Honda though, so I'd go for the Merc ;)

Is your wise review written from the perspective of a kid whose mum had one and sometimes she used to put your bike in the back?

are they all getting power? Either meter them or give them a brief direct feed to eliminate the relay

My stepdad has a 1.2 polo e, he's had it from brand new. Think it's upto something like 130/140k now. It's no ball of fire but purely as transport from a to b it's more than adequate

Only issues it seem to suffer with is it likes to break front springs (probaly had five over the last 12 years) everything else has been normal wear and tear items.

Except when some cock warbler nicked the wheels........who the fuck nicks steel wheels with part worn budget tyres?

I have direct fed the old ones without it starting but I need an assistant to do the meter bit.

I have now used a meter to check and when you switch on there is voltage to the glow plugs.

Family want to replace the business' increasingly shite T reg Leyland 45 with an Iveco. I passed on Billy's comments, minus swearing...

They were running an LF for a bit, but that had water ingress related electrical issues apparently. I would suggest getting another of those, but they might be a bit wary.

I know, not a lot of love for MGBs on here but I have got mine out to attend the MG event at Silverstone. Who said you are only risking it because it's 6 miles away!

The MG B is only hated because it's easy to buy, easy to run, easy to repair when it does break and go rusty and almost always returns a profit if you can make the paint shiny.  A practical classic that everyone loves?  There's plenty to hate about that.

I quite like yours, it's in the right colour with the right wheels.  I'd like it more in brown with rubber bumpers.

I have had mine for 4 years now but the first one I looked at was rotten and painted with a vacuum cleaner in yellow, much more a shiters car!

Done my good deed for the day: My friend (Heather lovely old lady -81 looks about 70!) came out for a walk with the dogs and when we got back to her car, flat tyre. Of course, no spare, no compressor, no nuffing!

So I got the compressor out of my car, blew her tyre up then lent her my debit card (!) so she could go straight round and buy a new tyre/have the puncture repaired. She didn't have her purse on her as, going dog walking and she was concerned about going home first.

So I am now £88 lighter as Kwikshit wouldn't repair it. Hope she pays me back....

Note, seriously loaded lady, new Merc A class with all the toys, not in a lot of danger to be honest!

I'm 19 and I put a bike in it once, otherwise that's reasonably true.

After work today I jumped in the silver Mondeo and drove to Northamptonshire to pick up a pushbike.  Not something I'd normally do, but this bike's a bit special.  I'll make a post in the pushbike thread once I've taken photos.  Mondeo managed 55 mpg, which wasn't bad going considering how shit a road the A47 is.  DMF was noticeably noisier by the end of the 200-mile round trip though - the blue Mondeo does the same thing, for some reason the flywheels get louder on a long run, then quieten back down again once the car has cooled off.  Weird.

Got fuel at injectors? Slacks pipes off and get assistant to turn over on starter to check

Any smoke when turning the engine over? If no smoke, check the stop solenoid and feed to it.

A little over 24 hours, but:

On Monday my VW reached 100,000 miles

On Tuesday my "barn find" Yamaha scooter hit 1,000 miles

Then on Thursday, my knees, after an undetermined mileage, went for repair

Now resides on the Beard driveway. A sublime combination of bacon, pies, cakes, diesel, Dave and Eddyramrod made this happen. This place IS what it used to be! 😄
