New OVP relay fitted, but still massively overfuelling, still dying on its arse once it starts to warm up.  Still, at least it's taxed, insured and back home now.

Brother-in-law, as expected, lost his license through totting up. 6 month ban and £205 fine.

Tube.

So when do you pick up the new motor?

He's dossing on the settee in my spare room and the car's outside.

So, as soon as he gets back from Carlisle with they keys...

Merc wagon has come back home after being on loan to my sister and Jersey registered Daihatsu has passed it's MOT, so just paperwork to do on that now.

Nuova Delta is in for a new cambelt & waterpump tomorrow ... The new thermostat I've bought does appear to be wrong one - fucksticks.

I may be looking to shift the Merc on shortly if anyone wants a c250TD estate.

Top tip for shiters. Check the local coop/ supermarket for sale board. You know, where people put a card selling their pet hamster etc.

Just scored four Goodyear ultra grip winter tyres for £10 each.

It's where giffers who don't do computers advertise their stuff.

Solution:

1. Sell Merc to stop you spending any more on it.

2. Collect money.

3. Spend money on getting that bloody Dyane back where it belongs.

Job done.

When we first got a DVD player about 15 years ago I bought Grand Theft Auto on DVD for £3.99. It was in its cellophane until 5 minutes ago, tonight's the night I'm finally going to watch it.

Chappie on an allegro farcebook group is selling a pair of allegro wings.

He wants £800!

I better work on my body repair skills.

Posted

What a turkey. Who is gonna spend £800 on a pair of Allegro wings? The best-restored allegro in the entire world is probably only worth about £4000.

Posted

Feels a wee bit like profiteering rather than trying to help keep some old allegros on the road.

Posted

That's what they cost brand new from the only place that sells them, and is why my allegro continues to have front wings stuffed with filler. He can fuck right off.

I might know of a decent allegro spares car near Peterborough.

It's raining and there are gales. Naturally the obvious choice for a drive into town was the 2CV. Even managed to park it near this Leyland DAF 200 again.

Also bought some proper giffer-style gloves. I'll get a picture up later but they cost £3 and have nice, grippy bits along with a fetching grey tartan pattern. The drive home in the 2CV revealed that extra-grip is very handy when the car is getting blown all over the road!

I bought some suede gloves recently just for extra warmth, but also find them pretty useful for driving in.  Especially when maneuvering a non-PAS Corsa into my garage.

Lost compression on cylinder 4.

If anyone sees it wandering around by the side of the A55 near Chester please send it home with a flea in the ear. Compression is very expensive to replace.

Suzuki MOT day tomorrow.

I'm not expecting a pass, this being a bit of a fishing trip to see what I'm up against.

The main problem I can see is a soft patch on the n/s sill.  Depending on which forum you look at, this may or may not be considered structural.

As predicted, the girlmobile failed it's MOT today, mostly what I expected, but with the addition of corrosion in the rear chassis crossmember that will require the tank to come out to fix.

I've got a chap coming over tomorrow afternoon from Redcar, Yorkshire to view the Merc, it's a long way so i hope he does turn up and doesn't haggle to much on the price, I've made it clear that I'm not dropping a penny under £900 (which i think is a bit too cheap anyway).

I've had quite a bit of interest in it this week to be fair, there was another guy from Maidstone who's keen and a few offers on ebay including this offer of the full asking price from a 0 feedback person from Herts...

Hello. I love your car and I look forward to be its new owner. Car looks amazing looks good value, so I'm happy to pay full money. Can you confirm that the car may collect from you on Sunday evening around 7 in the evening? I work in a day, but wil

As I've got this chap coming tomorrow I've left it but does that look legit?.

Whenever I get an over-enthusiastic message like that for a car I'm selling, I simply ask the person for a deposit. Most people don't answer back, those that do (and send the deposit) have proven they're genuine.

Posted

Yup. You could even say someone is coming to look at it on Saturday. If they're really interested, they might try and jump that gun. As it is, they're probably dreamers or scammers. As long as you don't give them any financial information, nae bother.

That's what I done in the end, I've emailed them back explaining i have a viewing tomorrow and I'll let them know how it goes, The postcode given comes back to Heart Fm Hertfordshire strangely?.

I've had the potential buyer (of Retro Rides and here too i think) on the phone this afternoon and he sounds like a decent chap and a 190E enthusiast so fingers crossed it should be gone tomorrow and hopefully to a good home.

I've also got the Starlet to collect in the morning and I've found someone selling the reproduction "SR" Castrol stickers for £45 a set, I'm pretty exciting about getting the car back to how it left the factory!.
