I have some winter tyres arriving for the Visa shortly. Does anyone know where in the Leeds/Bratfurt area that I can get these fitted and balanced? Nowhere seems to be able to balance the wheels with the square centres?

Have you tried Tyre Master near Bradford uni?

They're a decent bunch of lads, as a rule.

Will give them a try. Issue is the wheels have centres like this:

Have only tired tried* a few places and they cant balance them so thought it might be worth asking if anyone has had a similar problem.

*EDIT* unintentional mistype

Have you considered using the BB gun pellet method instead ?

I did once badger a tyre fitter in Cambs into digging out an attachment that allowed them to balance 2CV wheels. These things do exist, but most places can't be arsed to find the right adapter. Happily, 2CVs don't actually need the wheels balancing. What I thought was a balancing issue turned out to be a worn kingpin...

Polo seems to be working much better after the filter was changed- thank FOOK!

lets hope it behaves itself over the Festive period- that way the 320i can get some attention

I don't actually have any problems with the wheel balance TBH even when I wanged the ditchfinders on in the summer. Nothing changed. Maybe these don't need balancing either? Why do 2CV wheels not need balancing, is it the wheel or the way the suspension compensates?

Maybe Google will tell me.

I think 2CVs get away with it for a couple of reasons. One is that tyres, especially Michelins, tend to be good quality. The other is the centre-point steering - which is why they're not a handful if you suffer a blowout. Presumably this also means that wheels being out of balance isn't so obvious a problem. Most cars' steering pivots slightly inboard of the centre of the wheel, so any balance issues are felt more strongly. As are punctures.

How did you know it was the 18

Cortina should be tucked up in this weather, Vulva is receiving transplants from the dead red one

Process of Hallucination, innit?

Polo too m87 but good thinking. (It's also fucked)

Richard - where do I keep passing you as I'm totally oblivious to it.

It's just been a couple of times, just before Junction 1 in the morning. I was driving a Transit so you wouldn't notice me.

Sold the manky VTS alloys that came with the new rear beam for the Ax for £80, so the beam and a pair of front struts stand me at £125 at the moment, I'm a bit happier at that.

I'd get to the doctor with that ASAP, it could turn quite nasty if the infection takes a hold.

gonna ring at 8am ;; feels like a bruised apple

In case you missed it, Spyker went tits up yesterday in Holland.

Didn't they own Saab for about 6 months after GM sold it? Or was that Keonigsegg?

I read in the Economist today that Pagani make 38 cars a year, or last year anyway. Even if you charge half a mil for each one I wouldn't have thought those numbers stack up.

Attention photovoltaic phreaks, we iz up and running

Horrible and overcast here today so that's as good as it got. The total for today was 7kWh.

We still don't have a feed-in meter thing, it's supposed to go live January 1st but Croatia still didn't sort out their tariffs or anything (they must enjoy being fined by the EU) so it's just firing straight into the grid and running the meter backwards (yes, they really do that   I was watching it today in amazement). The only problem is if it goes below the last meter reading it might get tricky as it's kind of illegal doing that.

The stand alone thing works too, the PV guys switched it over and had me going round the house turning everything on to test it. Not that it'll run for long like that but if I turn off all the heavy stuff we'll be able to run the heating all night and watch telly while the neighbours freeze.

I wish mine had looked like that.  Instead of attaching the gear to the wall they stuck it on a roof beam that makes it impossible to read unless you are a contortionist, which I ain't.

Meter still going backwards, set for replacement Jan 6th.

Have the option of this through work,

110k mot failure & pas is a little on the heavy side. Needs a patch to the floor, rear silencer, front pads & discs and a suspension arm.

What would it be worth with a full ticket?

Even a cheap smoker with a bit of ticket? Perhaps I'll pass on it then. There is also a CRV automatic that has been winking at me, but I'm not sure I want to do trailing arm bushes on it.

I've just checked the reg, it's showing as a 1.4 ... bridge it NOW.

That said, with it being incredibly slow it might be cheap on the insurance and of interest to some peasant learner/VW fetishist.

If its a 4 speeder its worth it for the novelty value of a 1995 car with 4, yes 4 fucking forward gears.

its like the 1980s never happened!

I'm sure there used to be a Citroen ax close by here with a 4 speed box and a late model too? Not seen I in a few years though. Never knew you could get a 4 speed box on the mk3. Learn something new everyday

Visited mercedes ascot this morning to get the rescue assist codes fitted. Slightly annoyed that I didnt realise that they'd use the opportunity to find something wrong for them to fix as part of a visual safety check. That took an hour in all. Still free coffee, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it! The woman signing it back over to me said it was lovely, and she had a 2.6 190 and really liked the styling of this era of mercs.

sounds like you pulled ;)
