Phone call at 3pm. Notice handed in at work. On the move again. Start new job on Monday.

Everyone complaining about not being in work on other areas of the forum would do well to get a PSV license - the pay is shit up here but there are companies in the Midlands are paying £240pw for TEN HOURS work on school duties. I've seriously never been a day out of work since I got mine.

Mechanic tutor just bought this for £5000 and brought it in.

I've never seen so many people coming over for a nosy or asking what it is

I used to own a Karmann, even in 1990 you got a lot of that. Although I bought and sold mine at around 4K  then, seems like they have haven't inflated too much.

I've just put the 306 on Gumtree. It'll either be a good move or a very bad move. There will be no middle ground.

Wish me luck!

You didn't see Lord Sterling do a 180 when he clocked an SD1 in a pez station. Imagine that with a coach full of kids :-)

I think we have some NOS Blaupunkt at work all from the early 90s or earlier if anyone is interested?

i'm interested/curious

I found 3, a used Bristol 27, a nos model, similar to the bristol and a nos spindle mount set.

Thanks - a bit older than I'd like though. It's right for 1987 though.

I might be interested one of those Bristol sets. (I currently have a hole in the dash of my 1984 BMW).

How much?

The autoshite 220 passed it's MoT today, so I'm now very happy.  All it needed was some fettling of the rear brakes and handbrake, which I'd asked the garage to do anyway.  Result!

Sold the Oxford Saturday morning, handed all the money over to my restorer yesterday in exchange for new chassis leg, floor pan, rear wheel arch repair and some sundry other repairs on the Minor.  Same money in my account but four cars now instead of five.  Ho Hum.   Looks like the T25 needs a good-ish tickle over the winter too.   What shall I sell to fund that - the dog?

The venue was the classic remise in Berlin, a museum and workshop for unusual old stuff. Members of the public rent workshop space there to restore and maintain their old cars. There's also some historic vehicle dealers (frigging expensive) and some seriously nice stuff to look at. The pics are in the link above if anyone wants to look and they include some of the following

*peugeot 604 with the brownest of brown velour interiors

*ford taunus estate 1.6 povo spec

*fiat 130

*daimler double 6

*mercedes 600 grosser

*Peugeot 505gl which is used as a workshop courtesy car by the looks of it

*Peugeot 504

*stripped out citroen H van

*volvo p145 torslanda for shep shepherd and any other volvo botherers.

This Opel Diplomat is stupendous.  Want.

Colt Update.

I really like this car! It's so relaxing! Everything about driving it is so effortless, I can see it making me incredibly lazy. It is the first car I have owned without a 'starting procedure' - a turn of the ignition key is all it takes. I'm even happy with it changing gears by itself, and the excellent ventilation system was highly appreciated in today's miserable weather.

So, is there anything bad? Not really. I think Junkman undersold it in his ad - the external cosmetic issues are very minor and half an hour's work brought the (already good) interior up like new, although all the Autoglym in the world couldn't make that hilariously shite centre console look halfway presentable.

So there we go. Not even a week later and I'm already getting attached to my winter runaround.

Especially in the photos shown above, that Colt manages to look futuristic.  What great design.

Does it fit in your garage Conrad? I remember you lamenting the fact your P6 wouldn't fit!

Posted

Nah :(

But that's partially because the garage is full of Rover P6 interior.

The rear panel looks somewhat straighter in those pictures too.  It's a charming wee thing and I agree, it does have a bit of a futuristic look about it while also managing to look utterly generic, quite an achievement that.

Yeah, I straightened it out a bit with a Portapower. Well, I say Portapower, it was a non branded equivalent. By which I mean the car's own scissor jack braced against a wet briefcase.

Corrected Barrett's misunderstanding today...

... so I now have music while I ignore the inoperative electric window, cracked windscreen, cracked headlight, oil and water consumption, borked heater matrix and all the other things which remain as yet ignored.

I quite like this old brick...

I must have missed the pics before but it's a lot like a lancer/proton inside. Always loved those weird twisty lights and wiper stalks*

^^^ didn't know. In fact I don't think I've ever seen one IRL. Had both a lancer and a proton though :-)

Yes, they're wonderful. They are really well designed and make multifunction stalks seem a bit clumsy. Easier to clean than stalks too - you can just pull them off and wash them in the sink!

We finally got all the interior in and all the bits working in the dash and doors that should work on the Alfa Spider.  This gave me a chance to sit in the driving seat and, to my disappointment, I don't actually fit!

Now, I'm not a big fellah, I'm under 6' and built like a pack of pipe cleaners, so I thought I was in with a shot of getting into the Spider without too much issue.  But with the pedals way over to the right and the steering wheel almost in front of the passenger combined with everything crowding in from all sides, a low roof and high pedals it's just really awkward.

Mike's a bit shorter than me, strangely we don't have to alter seating positions or mirrors to drive one anothers car, so I was a bit miffed that he found everything fitted him just fine.  Just as well he's driving it when we deliver it to the new customer then, because I physically can't and I'd actually like to at least a little bit.

Conrad D. Conelrad, I've also got one of those multifunction stalks in what I suppose you could say is my daily driver, also a quality vehicle from the land of the rising currant bun.

And here you see the beautifully laid out instrument cluster, excuse the dirt as it was pissing down today

20141022_082454.jpg

And there's another shot of the vehicle in question. I'm 6'0 and the wheels are probably shoulder high to me. 18 tonnes empty 25 tonnes laden.

So basically identical to your very tidy mitsubOOshi coughmikebrewercough colt. I wonder if the back bumper off mine would fit yours??

Maybe not, but I bet we could straighten out the rear panel pretty well with it!

Blimey, I thought that middle picture was the cockpit of a fighter jet at first glance.

Now I want to drive a digger when I grow up.

if, not when.  Growing up is not mandatory or expected here.

Or indeed likely.  I did think about putting the customary asterisk after 'when'...
