305 proved its worth today by firing a certain dead Saab 9000 back into life. My opposite number was most pleased.

I shouldn't keep going on about this little car but gosh it's performed well over the last few days, I must have done around 350 miles in it this weekend (the mileometer is broke) but it's been great fun, even when we nearly drown in it during a flash flood on Sunday, a few problems have appeared, the blocked carb on Monday...

 

 

...the oil leaking out of the RC gasket everywhere and today the front nearside brake pad decided to run out and go metal to metal, whoops.

 

Never the less it's been a cracking car and really made our little break away, so much so that I've decided not to sell it for the time being. I just need to find some discs and pads for it now which is no mean feat by the looks of it.

Going to cost around £600 to get fixed which in the on the limit of keep or sell but Missus loves it so have gone ahead.

Front engine mount is £105 plus Vat alone.

 

Peugeot decided that I wasnt paying it enough attention so let the wind grab its drivers door and slam it against the bonnet. Lovely crease it in now. I think I will need to fix the check strap.

 

I have sort of come to a decision with the Triumph.

 

Our landlord has got the house on the market so taking a car to bits is a bit risky at the moment. I am going to get under it and have a good poke, but judging as it stand I think that it is too much for me. I like the car but dont love it, therefore it is going to be an economic decision.

 

You can get the sills for it but they are going to be a couple of hundred for inners plus same again for outers plus strengtheners before even looking at anything.

 

I reckon the better course of action is to have a look, make a decision and in likelihood move it on. Then next year the pug runs out of MOT I am tempted to take it off the road and restore it. I enjoy it so much more as a car, its practical and fun. Less work as well.

House moving date offered of next Thursday.  I should be happy about this but I'm not, I had hoped to move this weekend, but the ineptitude of the companies we are dealing with is such that they have failed to achieve that, so it'll be a four week wait from initial application to actual move which has really narked me off.

 

I've never known anyone, let alone a company you pay, make such a fuss about getting a signature; e-mail a link to the guarantor so they can print off a form to put their signature on it so the guarantor or their representative can then drop the signed form in at the office to then be processed over the course of a day or three.

 

Effectively, I'm now off work while I properly pack everything up because I no longer have to pack and unpack boxes to get at stuff.  I should be happy and excited but this whole process has just made me really, really cross.

Today is the last day of my twenties.

I'm going to end it as i've ended a lot of days in the last ten years. Pissed.

Changed the pollen filter on the Octavia today (I don't normally bother but the old one was stinking) and sprayed some air freshener on it. Now the interior smells like our loo five minutes after I've been for a huge dump and the missus has tried to eradicate the brown air.

Fixed check strap. It was the pin that had fucked off. Sourced a suitably sized bolt and jobs a good un.

 

Filling up car in asda car park this evening, had four different set of people stop to ask what i was doing.

I've never understood air freshers in loos, I mean you empty a can full of that in the room and what do you get? A room stinking of shit and flowers.

Well I was wrong about the scooter.  It wasn't ignition-related at all.  The mixture screw had slowly been winding itself in until the bike was running hopelessly lean at high revs.  Unscrewing it three quarters of a turn produced a dramatic improvement.  It still needs some minor tweaking, but at least it's not a rolling roadblock any more.
