Yesterday the Mini passed its MOT with flying colours.

Today it refused to start.

Good timing!

Better than me:

Just taken the Audi for its MOT. Well I say that but what i actually mean is that i got it to the test station but its not getting its MOT. Starred running rough about 200m away and now wont start. RAC en route.

I have fixed* the 2CV with gaffer tape. It is now ready for use again.

To show what's needed, here's a shot pinched from a friend who has set up a new repair business. The grey bits have been replaced on this one. It was worse than mine!

What's missing in this shot is what needs cutting out on mine. 2CVs really are blessed with superb panel availability!

Due to the disappointment i may have caused some this afternoon can i leave this here?

I dunno, I've met a 45 year old nurse called Phil before and he could certainly give Nurse Gladys Emmanuel a run for her money in the eye candy department. Probably not the same as your Nurse Phil though, this was about 8 years ago.

Decided to get under the wife's fiesta for a look.

I am glad I did - the main floorpan is ok (it is only undersealed to the edges of the transmission tunnel), however the subframe is starting to look like it has been on an oil rig, so I will have to paint it with something as a new subframe would see it bridged.

The o/s sill has an ominous looking bulge under the b post - no doubt I will have to get the welder out before winter.

Bet you didn't get that for your customary budget of £400...

Barry that looks a lovely car! Enjoy it.

My only complaint with these is that the interiors often look like really bad seat covers the contrasting centre trim doesn't work in my opinion.

The rest looks a peach!

I've got a swish new trailer board with LED light cluster and a massive long cable for A framing. I'm gonna fit a tow bar this weekend. Just need to identify a suitable shite heap to drag home!!!

Did this today.

Autoshite Midlife Crisis : you're doing it wrong ! What you need is an MX5 with 160K miles and sills mostly made of newspaper or an MGF that uses more coolant than petrol.

Are all male nurses called Phil? Reminds me of my sister's tales from uni of a mature student she called 'fitty Phil' who was apparently fond of saying to everyone "Did I mention I'm a nurse?" but maybe she exaggerated that. Then there was my dear departed neighbour Joy (she of grey FSO Polonez fame) who once told me after a stay in hospital "Oh duck, the male nurses were lovely but they're all gay" - that probably wasn't at all true!

I am going to ring up the garage about the Aldi Coupe tomorrow. If you want you can come and A-frame it to the local canal where I am going to push it in and blame it on joyriders to get the insurance money.

Lots of cracking scenery on that route, should be a great trip.

You'll be missing out on me and anonymous user by a few miles, but you'll be but a sneeze away from Dollywobbler.

Pics or don't bother coming back ;-)

Managed to fix the fronty's lack of smooth progression this evening. 8)

Had ordered a replacement tps (cheap after market) then realised I had an old manifold in my really useful spares junk pile. Sure enough, it had a bosch throttle position sensor on it. Two screws and then swapped over with my old one. Car works brilliantly now. Never been better. :happydance:

Got the new one today (£11-00) so that's the backup. That and a new wheel bearing on the front and it's like driving a limo....well compared to before anyway.

Forgot to say, I managed to get the number plate for the GT6 on straight today. Going to wang it through its MOT in the next few days methinks. Still not idling right but will check the spring on the pedal and then look at cleaning up the carb. However off out round town tomorrow night so will have to see how fooked I get as to how much work I get done on it over the weekend.

Two jewels amongst the swill. .

Were you there? I recall a bmw estate.

Embarrassingly I don't know if you were the guy I was talking to.

Stupid phone won't load Dicky's map. I'll check it out next time I'm on a computer.

Only been driving it a day and already hate the petrol in comparison.

Your touring looked good too, I've started taking a liking to e30s, saloons in particular so one might be on the cards when I get rid of something.

It's shit but I love it:)

The saloons are starting to get bloody expensive

I would have either.

Regardless they're still much more luxurious than anything I own just now.

Sweet! Well on the 827 Coupe I managed to buy despite being as far away from England as I can get, I recall the drivers window not working and being wedged in by a block of wood. I've secured myself a drivers door electric window mechanism, I also have some 16" Prestige alloys in fine fettle to replace the crap rattle-canned jobs and some genuine floor mats.

It might not need all this but it's there in case it does. I won't be seeing this car until August at the very least but at least I've got some Rover fettling to look forward too.
