Our way's better.

leasing-2.png

(yes, I did look at a leasing site to work out how much a £250 car would be per month!)

edit: and made it before I read about Station's new car.

Haha!epic. Just needs 'gfv, we guarantee you'll not have to pay more than £150 to scrap this car at the end of the 3 year term (assuming its not 25 smartprice toaster before then)'

My 504 was one monthly payment to buy, but that only bought 70% of the car.

No, there wasnt any of this 'baloon' payment malarkey at the end- the rest simply wasnt there.

Kia Clarus? You mean a supercharged 400hp Daimler LWB, or a Bentley Turbo R surely.

It's Hirst, he means a Kia Clarus.

SEAT returned from Mot with a nice shiny pass without so much as a single advisory. I R HAPPY.

As long as it stays reliable and I don't end up spending too much on maintaining it then it stays in the fleet. This is good as It is pretty much everything I want - comfy, fast and moderately cheap to run.

New cars have an appeal but I don't see the point in financing myself up to buy one. When / if I do replace it, it'll be something a couple of years old that I can run for a good few years to justify the investment.

Buying a new car on finance every three years seem to be a very poor investment to me.

I bobbed off today to see Joncedric to get my metal garden gate welded up after I broke it while trying to fix it on Monday. Had a nice cuppa, got the gate welded and headed home. Parked the XM up and noticed LHM was dripping from under the N/S/F wheel. Balls! Closer inspection showed the strut LHM return pipe had perished and fractured due to age. A trip to Halfrauds had a lengh of rubber tube in my hand and in no time at all the issue was fixed. As a bonus the passenger side floorpan of the XM is now nicely rustproofed.

Oh, and when I jacked up the front end the jack went through the front subframe where it had some "surface" rust. It was an advisory on the MOT but I think i'll have to advise Jon to weld it up for me. It's not a big hole and the metal is pretty thick, so it should be a doddle to patch.

confirmed o/s driveshaft on its way out, grrr....

on a better note helped mate change his droplinks on his beema and did oil and filter change too... old sump plug fractured in two pieces, came out as one and mate was cleaning it up and it fell  apart...

I am getting excited about bringing the red Ax home.

For the longest time, I've been buying cars, keeping them around for a bit but never really had any that got under my skin, that I really loved. Sure I've had a few good ones, the Delica was a brilliant experiment into cheap Japanish 4x4s, but always felt a bit temporary, but I think once the Ax comes home (all being well!) I think I will have finally got something I can settle with.

I'd love a proper 70s/80s chod mobile sometime, but my budget just won't stretch to anything that I'd get enough enjoyment out of, because 99% of the time I'd be fixing it or chucking obscenities and spanners at it, I've had enough of watching people pass by at the weekend as I labour away on some awful shitbox, I just want to get it cleaned up, on the road and in pictures.

Finally something I actually can attach some positivity to.

I've managed to confirm that my Twitter account hasn't been compromised by using another computer, but this computer seems convinced that the security certificate on the Twitter site is unsafe and won't let me on.  I can't find any reference to this problem with other users and I don't have a smaller certificate to hammer over the current one.  Anyone of a technical mind able to help out with this one or experiencing a similar issue?

Quite frustrating, really, as it's my main source of news.  I just don't get how it's gone from being fine this afternoon to not working now.

I cant find the 'moderns bigger than classics' thread, but I've worked out that I struggle to play it!

So, large exec estate (the Xm) is the same as compact exec saloons (f30 BMW, and whateverthefuck c class)

It's a boring car park normally. We had some excitement when a cow got loose from somewhere and ran around for an hour or so until the police and farmer got it back a few years ago though!

You didn't need the police for that, surely the obvious way to get rid of it would have been to open the windows and shout 'moooooove'

They were fucking useless tbh! All the did was chase it from one end of the car park to the other for 2 hours, destroying several wing mirrors in the process!

Farmer turned up with his battered series 3 and a trailer, backed the cow into a corner, opened the trailer, smacked it up the ramp, shut the trailer then spent 20 minutes talking to plod!

Another year of roadworthiness for Das Capri, one advisory for slight play in the front wheel bearings which is completely expected with brand new hubs bedding in - success!

And verily number 5 in the Corsaviour household rocked up today...

corsa 1.4 April 2014 a.jpg

1.4 8V. It's f*cking ace for the money*, MOT'd, drives well and if nowt else can donate it's better tyres and battery to the 1.0.

*Sub scrap price.

Are you on a mission to own all the Corsas?  That rear door looks like it's 90% filler but you can hardly go wrong at that price.  Fancy GLS too!  I'd have one of these if it was cheap enough, not a bad car compared to what else was around at the time.

What's going on with those wiper arms Billy? They look most odd. </wiper geek>

2CV has MOT! One advisory for offside track rod end. There is a bit of play there. May adjust out, or it might be new TRE time. Tester was surprised at how good the underside is. S'pose is has had about £600 of welding under there in the past two years. Only 4000 miles covered in the past year, but that's 1000 more than the year before, so it's heading the right way.

The Kubelwagen is back. Not blowing smoke anymore, but the boost is crap, EML is on and it won't rev. Back to VW dealer she goes. This is beyond a joke now.

Got the front pads for the V50. £17 all in for Mintex. Excellent.

Congrats dw on the 2cv mot!!

Was just reading on your blog about your battles with tinworm on the old tin snail.

Yeah, there's still a long way to go. Thankfully, the next bad areas to work on aren't of interest to an MOT tester. Unless the corrosion around the windscreen gets so bad that it falls out.

Just been promoted to manager :D whoop whoop, and I also had an interview back at Maccy D's this morning for a part time job there.

Hopefully I will be financially able to progress these cars a little faster soon!

Nice one Edd.

Forgot to mention. This was in while my 2CV was MOTd. Needs a steering rack.

I think it's the one I test drove last year, but can't be sure as I apparently didn't get any pics of the one I drove. Fail.

I may have accidentally won a pug 405 estate TD on Ebay, no tax or test, very crappy advert and I've got to go to Harrogate to get it. I don't even want it but Meh...

HOLD THE PHONE.

Ebay car sale shocker.

At the last minute I was outbid on a nice cheap Honda Logo nearby - the auction finished about 2 hours ago.  As it'd already been on once with the winning bidder not turning up I emailed the seller to say 'if the buyer doesn't go show then let me know, I'm still interested'.

She replied about an hour later to say 'Thank you for the offer but the winning bidder has just turned up, paid and driven away'.

I have given SRS thought to setting up a Corsa specialist place, I'd be like a pig in muck. I managed to save this from scrap this morning, they're like a bloody magnet to me!
