Yes, here's the bastard in question.

I haven't driven the car but the handbrake holds so I'm guessing it's fine.

You can have it for postage - all in the spirit of Autoshite! Won't get round to removing it until Friday though.

Excellent! Val (and her 420D) will be very pleased. The MoT is up at the end of next month and the lack of a caliper would have put it off the road.

GAAAAAARGH! Contact established for the Maverick. Hoping to collect on Thursday BUT it involves a trip on good ol' public transport. I'm wound up already and I've got nowhere near the first bus yet. Looking on the web trying to find costs is horrific. It looks like two bus trips, a train and a bit of walking (which is fair enough, and free!). Trying to find out how much the buses will cost has so far yielded nothing, apart from Arriva usefully telling me that it's preferable if I have the right change for the driver. I NEED TO KNOW THE FUGGIN PRICE TO DO THAT YOU MORONS!!!! Perhaps I should hitch-hike? (see clever reference to a current thread).

DW- A maverick! dont know when I last saw one of those! Does it have Nissan or ford power under the bonnet? A near Neighbour had a Terrano II in the 90s that put up with a lot of abuse and never went wrong. had a 2.7TD lump IIRC

Due to collect my own impulse buy tomorrow. Bus and train comboto get there. Seller has kindly offered to pick me up from the station. A 1993 mercedes w124 300d estate showing 370k. Appliance white with rust stains. Ridiculously cheap, it may turn out to be ridiculously crap. Got a 2hr roadtrip back home. My AA card is at the ready. I'll let u know how wise a buy it was!

Nissan engines. This one's a petrol. I did want a diesel, but there's not that much in it mpg-wise for the mileage I'm likely to do in it. Apparently the engine shares a fair bit with the 240SX engine...

Let's hope it's a good week for silly roadtrips!

Don't forget the cameras, either of you! :D IIRC, the Maverick is all Nissan apart from the badges, but it is slightly possible I could be incorrect. I looked at one a few years ago in Blackpool, but failed to win it; same thing then happened with one in Skelmersdale. They get about, these things! I remember getting under the Blackpool one and finding they are built on a proper chassis which can't be bad!

Agreed! All the best with yours DW. Hope the Seller getsa his act together!!

Oh, good point, ill put the camera in my bag now. You'll all have a good view of whatever happens!

Sorry, I failed slightly as there's no Lexarse lights or gash 'M3' lookalike rims...BUT it has a 'factory fitted' M3 bodykit (yeah, right  ] and absolutely frigging hideous M3 replica mirrors. Being a 4 cylinder (1.8 I think) it's heavier (at least I'd think it was being a convertable) and painfully slower then the 2.5.

I like that  Does it owe you much?, I still class those as a pretty expensive car.

I was just thinking the same thing. However, if I buy anything without selling at least two others first, I WILL be castrated.

I'll bet you will. :D

Second thoughts, yes, I'll give you £1.56 for it!

The car doesn't owe me huge money, less than they usually go for I would think. If anyone wants to take it on I'll listen to offers/swaps/cheaper part-exchanges.

*Incidentally talking of dosh, you're due a pm anytime soon Chris, probably tomorrow

I really like that, I'd say it's one of your better swaps, you can tell I'm from Essex can't you!

Just got 2 new Firestones on the front of the Rover in preparation for this weekend’s road trip to Stuttgart, lovely job! The old tyres were ‘UK legal’, but would not have got me very far with a German copper.

The BMW's no Mondeo but they look good with the roof down. It's something to do with that constant horizontal line from the screen back to the boot.

They tend to get badly chavved up but this one doesn't seem to bad at all other than the ERM3 mirrors.

Changed the front passenger door on the 240 for a nice undented one from my spares car. The original looked like someone had kicked it in with golf shoes on or something. Removal and refitting went well, although I found the central locking on the new door didn't work- it worked fine when I removed it! Off with the door card again! The wires had somehow been severed by the electric window, stuck the original solenoid back in and everythings working again.. well, I say everything, I seem to have lost the plug for the speaker behind the dash somehow. I'll try to find it again on the weekend.

I ended up with a red car with a pink door, but a bit of elbow grease, cutting compound and posh wax resulted in a lovely deep shine. Now I have a red car and a slightly darker red, shiny door. I'm quite pleased all the same though, those little dents really really got on my nerves!

Good man. Pics of road trip are required. You know this.

I clocked up about 230 miles in a Delica L400 yesterday. Quite surprising in that it felt very car like bar the bouncy ride. They handle far better than they look! This one had some great features, like a cork replacing the overdrive switch...

I'll do a full write up when I can. For now, I'm drinking tea before heading off to Swansea to see whether this Maverick is any good. Two 4x4 road trip reports to follow!

I've been having major problems with my welding mask as I can't see a fuggin thing through it. Trying to weld upside down in the dark while looking through darkened cataract isn't easy.

Last night after months of struggling with it I discovered I'd left the plastic film on the inside of the lense, which over time had went opaque. I peeled it off and I can now see perfectly through it.

I've had that helmet for over a year. What a dooshbag.

The Ligier is on eBay at the moment, finishes tonight. So far I've had two detailed questions, one from a chap who wanted to drive it back to Dover, and one who was buying it as a first car for his 17-year-old son ( ) and wanted to see photos of the rear seats (despite me saying in the description box that it only has two seats). Worryingly, both were from the (then) high bidders. I have a feeling that this could be one of those fun experiences that make eBay such a great place to sell chod... :?

Not had too much trouble with the Pug on Ebay, apart from the usual "£100 cash m8" stuff. It's currently at £155 with four hours to go. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270898103829

Chap at the local hotel has a Terrano that's going to be scrapped, so I've overcome the Maverick's wheelnut crisis. Spare wheel is now back on the rear door. It's a beautiful day, so I really should get on with the various fluid changes. Back axle first as apparently old oil can cause the LSD to kick on for OMG DRIFT YO when you least expect it... (though I suspect this can be easily overcome by not booting the throttle mid-bend!).

I thought Ligier were single seaters.

My Subaru Justy (old swift shape) is in for a clutch swap. and its an arse of a job. the whole engine and box assembly has to be dropped out from underneath (there is no room to lift it out-rear of the g/box has a long nose section for the rear drive prop) and definately no room to slide the box out in situ. something to be aware of in the unlikely event that anyone else is looking at buying one!

Arse. The Peugeot has sold to someone with zero feedback. I was out so wasn't able to cancel the bid. Chances of an actual sale? Looking slim...

Posted

Yeah, forgot to set it. Paying the price!

EDIT - Looks like the second highest bidder is interested, so all is not lost.

Received and fitted my 'new' seatbelts. Aircraft style buckles, which are kinda fun. While looking for them, I found

from the 1960s. A stunt driver crashes a Standard Vanguard, an Austin Somerset and a Vauxhall Wyvern (Velox?) protected only by his diagonal seatbelt and survives unscathed. Makes EuroNCAP look a bit soft.

Fitted reversing sensors to the volvo today. Quicker to take the whole bumper off and do it on my front room when the missus was out. One of those jobs that is immensely satisfying. Parking has become less of a guessing game and means Missus is happier with the big old bus. Sensors were £13 from ebay so bargain!

Got another set for the T25. Removed the rear bumper tonight and will fit them tomorrow.

Fitted the visor film to my passenger side mirror. Will see if it keeps the rain / frost off it. If so might invest in sheet of film to do the T25. Would make starting off in the winter easier to do.

Also swapped over the front washer jets on the volvo from the normal two jet to the fan squirt. Covers the screen really well and makes it stay clean. That plus flat new wipers means I canz seez everfink!
