He was clearly lying and trying to curry favour.  Next week I'll tell you all how I saved a Daimler hearse from some pikeys by hotwiring their hiab before ditching their truck in a field and setting it on fire.

Jesus chaps, i've had a shit and a shower (not at the same time)

Right, i'll condense this down as much as possible.

I'm a panel beater by trade, in a decent size shop in blackburn, unfortunately for us most of our work comes from LV who pay incredibly shite labour rates and as such a lot of borderline write off stuff comes our way (Cavaliers, 306's etc) when this stuff does get written off it goes to salvage.......

My boss is very good mates with the local salvage dealer (to whom the majority of the turds we kill go to) and as such he tends to keep a lot of cars at our yard (20+  last count), any road he came to shift a volvo tonight which was at the back of the yard and i'd said i'd give him a lift moving it, i went outside side and BOOM! there she was in all her crusty glory.

Conversation goes -ME; "Fuck me a laurel!", Alan (salvage guy): " yeah, fucking turd, just dumping it here till it gets bridged"

Long story short, as i was trying to tug his fly down with my teeth we agreed on £200........i don't have £200....yet, or any where to put it.........fuck it you only live once

That's gotta be worth £200 even if it gets ovaled, whats the rear damage like?

Runs sweet as a nut, despite having 167,000 on the clock. It appears though when you get past half throttle the pedal drops to the floor and stays there with the engine reving it's tits off,

Which might explain this..........

It'll polish out..........

Right computer is having a shit fit, and, some what ironically, keeps crashing.

It's final destination would've been the oval, as the local yard owner races as well (if your wondering how come you see so many classics on track).

I've no idea what i'm going to do with it. I sold the BMW due to lack of time and funds... but this is fucking awesome and deserves at least an atempt at a second life.

I don't know the story behind it but seeing as this is blackburn, i'm guessing it spent it's life going to friday prayers before a grandson got it and ran out of talent.

I'll put some more pictures up tomorrow.

P.S it's a manual, for OMGDRIFTOYO!

Hat doffed to you, sir. can you actually fix that? could you even buy a new panel?

i'll give it a go, i wouldn't normally as the insurance would never pay the labour needed to do it. but i have repaired worse.

Is it an auto? That damage has a hint of the infamous "I was drifting and a wall fell on it"

Good save though!

Blimey. If that gets saved, we're going to have to get some new medals!

Just cut out an old bit of cortina quarter panel and bosh it on. They can't be that different right?

Just out of interest, does anyone know a good site for these? I'm going to have go part hunting once OMGBLACKFRIDAYSANTASCUMMIGONRUDOLF is over.

Nice one ShiteRider, you are obviously in the right trade to have a crack at it too

I bet Ratdat will know where theres one of these you could chop a wing off.

Wow! That looks truly awful and a right PITA. Well done for saving it and taking it on. I like the 'Fuck it, you only live once' attitude to it. I'm gonna use that as an excuse to justify my next purchase, which will probably be another bloody Rover 800 of some sort.

For a brief time I drove around in Mr Rungasamy's Carina II Estate which had ATS Classics on it, some kid in a Polo gave me the stink-eye, it was great.

I once approached a junction as some skinny hipster was waiting to turn, him in a Polo, slammed with <£100 ebay coilovers - at best, me in my Volvo 360 Turbo on oh-so-rare 13x7 Superlites.

What made me laugh was as I dove past him, all he did was stare, open-mouthed at the wheels on mine.

He won't have even known what the car was - as he never looked.

I hate fucking scensters. There is more to a car than wheels alone! (Also, I was lower. :D)

You should challenge it on the basis that that's a shit signature devoid of any creativity.

On the way to work this morning, the Megane began sounding like a Max Power featured Saxo. Investigation in the work car park revealed that the short pipe connecting the middle section of the exhaust to the backbox has snapped off.

No problem, I think to myself. I'll pop round to the motor factors, pay £30 for a new backbox, take it to the local exhaust place and all will be sorted. However, I didn't count on Renault being Renault.

According to the parts catalogue, the exhaust of my car is identical in design but a slightly different diameter to most other Meganes. Unsurprisingly, nobody seems to have this version in stock locally. Great.

Typically, it's a bloody busy week at work, so I can't take any time off to go parts chasing. Plus I am working this weekend, and could really do with a car that doesn't make your ears bleed at anything above 50mph. Argh.

Stick it on someone else's car and let them pay it for you?

Any air-con experts on here? Sirion seems to have stopped demisting properly. It's hard to tell if the air-con is working properly, as it's so cold outside anyway. It's struggling to demist though - certainly no better than a regular heater. Usually, you turn the air-con on and the fog clears very promptly. It isn't at the moment.

I'll be very upset if something on this car has actually broken.

Does the switch light up when it's turned on ? If so then check the compressor clutch has kicked in. You should be able to see if it has as the whole end of the compressor will be rotating rather than just the pully part with the belt on. (that does sort of make sense when you are looking at it). If the compressor isn't cutting in then it needs a pressure check and maybe re-gas.

I think it's cutting in because the car compensates for it. Being a tiddly little engine, it needs a fuel boost to cope with the drag from the air con pump. I'll try and have a proper look tomorrow. Not spoilt for choice around here when it comes to air-con. May have to go to Kwik Fit...
