What about cut out and weld universal one in??

I was looking at something called Clobberizer to de-dog the new 850 but that might be a better option. Will you let us know if the treatment lasts?

I blasted my damp and musty boiler cupboard last Wednesday night with the ozone generator (easily the smelliest space I've used it in) and it still smells nice. So far, so good ^^

Pawnote: an ozone generator has the advantage over Clobberizer, as it can be used again and again :)

The ST has been driving OK since it said it had a fault with the EGR last week but as I had the time today I thought I'd try and take it off for a clean.

It's buried in this mess

After a lot of messing with some rigid pipes that do who knows what I manged to get to the thing.

Absolutely no chance of getting it off though. You just can't get any tools in as a junction for the water system is right in front of it.

Rebuilt the whole thing and sent it off to the garage. Said to them to have a loo at its mystery oil leak and change the auxiliary belt too as that'd mega tight on the other side.

Sometimes it's just better to pay someone that spend the next 5 days dicking about getting nowhere.

Yeah, looks like you can't get at the two bolts that hold it on without removing that large coolant hose. Which probably means at least a partial system drain?

^^thanks and bugger.

If it were my old Fiesta I would have just started pulling bits off but when it's used by Mrs Shrimp nearly everyday it's not a car I want to break.

While more work hopefully it won't be a million pound bill from the garage.

Yay ! Mot on my heap. Couple of advisories. Ball joint and top strut mount.

Getting ball joint tomorrow. Any body know where I can get a top strut mount for a 305 ?

So, the Fusion will be leaving next week for a new life in St Ives on a very different part of coastline. At 3 years, 9 months it's the car I've owned 2nd longest ever, and also the only car that I bought for more than £1k (I won't be making that mistake again!). Overall it has always had niggles, and I have never enjoyed owning it. I will not miss it.

22-23k miles in that time (117k total)

However, it doesn't really have any rust, cambelt was less than four years ago, Clutch this year. It should soldier on for a couple more years.

Ha, Rob - do you know that Mondeo we pushed into a garage 7 months ago....

:-)

I really want to sort that one way or another next!

Mrs Egg has clearly failed to give a sob story to the Car SOS boys...

A Triumph TR3A no less. Nice.

The most notable modification was a mobile phone cradle screwed to the gearbox tunnel.

I'm on a train. The first of three today. Unless someone fancies giving me a lift from Acocks Green to Hinckley this evening instead of watching football?

Uh oh. Heart rate intensifies.

or something like that.

Anyway, yeah, it passed, which was a pleasant surprise. Took a little skulduggery though, I have to admit. I had been worried about the oil leak, which is if anything getting worse and any drips at all during the test are now a fail thanks to the new rules so when I parked up I squeezed under with a rag and tin of brake cleaner and hosed it off as best I could.

The tester is sound and lets me into the garage and the inspection pit etc during the test. First off is the emissions, then brake tests and shock absorber tests etc, then over the pit for final inspection. As soon as it was over the pit I shot down like a rat down a drainpipe while the guy was prodding his tablet. I had a bit of kitchen roll in my pocket so slyly wiped up the forming drips before he saw them, then every time he turned his back I gave it a quick wipe so it never dripped on the floor.

Advisories for corrosion all over the shop, but no holes so scrapes the pass.

phew.

Good luck to England for the match tonight. Not a football fan at all but hope they win.

Took the 406 coupe out of storage today to meet its fellow yellow Puggy Pininfarina

stable mate! All well and good should have it joining it's Cabriolet friend on the road next month for its 20th birthday once I've completed its bodywork!

I like a 406 coop.

Should have been the natural progression from a saloon, but I bought a 407 instead!
