^^ might as well use a brillo pad and some Ajax.

I know these waterless things claim all sorts about "floating" the dirt off, but its a crock.

Occasional spruce up of a rain-spotted or slightly dirty car? yeah ok. Use lots of it though.

Long term or a car you care about? lolnope.

Yup, that is the circumstances.

I don’t think these waterless things are as bad as some people make out - even some of the detailing world types use them.

I’ve got a metric fuck tonne of it on its way to me (couple of 5L jugs + 500ml spray), will report back

Fair enough. Im no three-bucket pervert or anything, but I personally wouldnt use it. I would guess that DetailingWorld types already have about 15 layers of wax made from Queen Nefertitis breast milk, and farting near the car would be enough to blow most dirt off its molecularly smooth paint.

It can only ever be a partial solution really, it's not going to get your wheel arches, sills, underneath clean. I'm trying to ween myself off the local handwash though cos of the possible slave labour stuff.

Hahaha you’re probably not wrong there! :D

I bet this stuff would work wonders on my Duster - it had Diamondbrite applied when it was new which although I thought was bullshit has actually proven very effective!

Ooh look at the beading, which means the dirt can stick again!

For the sake of £2.99 I'll give that Aldi waterless stuff a go too.  I've been meaning to try some on the Metro, as chucking loads of water over a car that's just slightly dusty does feel excessive (rarely used garage queen that it is).

I've rinsed out the nozzle with water after use btw, to avoid it getting gummed up.

I now have a free can of SAAB 189 red/gold paint if anyne has a SAAB that colour. Just rung the peeps I got the paint from and they were apologetic in the extreme, told me to keep the old stuff and they are sending me a new mix of MERCEDES 189 on 1 day delivery.

Went to Halfords to pick up stuff, asked very nicely if I could forget the air filter ('cos it's brand new in the car already - it has been serviced after all!) and they said 'Yes!' In celebration I bought some wash/wax stuff on offer and some Gorilla super glue. Apparently this stuff is lethal... we shall see.

So Matt LeBlanc is leaving Top Gear and won’t appear in the series after the upcoming one.

Who do we think is going to take his place?

Gorilla glue is a lot better than superglue. I’ve only been using it for a year or so, but it is very, very good.

Dollywobbler, fingers crossed.

Dollywobbler and Catsinwelder.  They're practically filming a pilot as we speak.

I’m on the M4 right now almost due south of Thame - it’s cunting it down.

Autoshite weather brought to you from the 1830 NX 445

He's never really fitted in - affable, friendly, funny, but just not right.

It's been clear right from the start that Harris is the next Clarkson, Reid is the next Hammond, so they need some bumbling old fart who is into the 1950s to complete the identikit.

I always found the studio exchanges to be excruciating if I'm honest although the films with Le Blanc in were usually very good.

Where do we volunteer dollywobbler - is there a form on the BBC website we can fill in (not saying that Ian is a bumbling old fart, etc) ?

Not a drop here, but the humidity levels are practically Malaysian.

When I was out on the mountain bike in swinley this afternoon ( start of my holiday), the local radio tower( its the big one with red lights you can see if you drive up the m3) was hit by lightning. The bang nearly made me crash!

No rain though.
