Both sides please, the seats if they're in decent nick, the bulkhead and fixings would be great.

Oh and the load bay mat!

I'd understand if you can't be arsed.

Seats are pretty fucked. Bulkhead, trim panels etc are yours. I've no problem with removal and long term storage (i'm using a luton body as a shed now).

You want sort some kind of pony express out?

The van is at my work, Abbott car repairs, Hollin Bridge Street, Blackburn. BB2 4BA

Ps i'll take the white panels out as well if you like as they're thick tailor cut poly (GPO spec?)

Pony express would be good, I'm in the Highlands. Shame about the pews, mine has Jaguar X-type seats fitted and they're far too high up.

I do have to ask,why weld it?

Unless there's loads of play of play in the bolts holes you didn't need to do that...

the bolts seem cheap

Exciting* times here as I bin the garish looking alloys off the estate (keeper) and swap them for the nicer ones off the hatch (not keeping)

The ones off the estate turned out to be genuine Irmscher ones, and are 16", might see if they're worth a few quid and flog them on.

A set of Favorit seats were procured for £30 from some nice people who have seven cars (inc a Rover P6, which I didn't get to see for-shame).

It was a damp night and the Tipo's newly replaced alternator and belt were squealing continuously on a brief run this morning, as expected.  Inspired by the adjusters which use a nut/screw to drag the axle back to tension the chain on my old single speed bike in the garage, and without measuring anything, I fashioned something similar from some small, flimsy B&Q 90degree angle brackets left over from repairing the garden fence.  The brackets were too weak individually but when doubled up had adequate strength.  A hole was drilled to allow the alternator adjustment clamping bolt to pass through (equivalent to the axle on my bike) and another hole on the 90 degree bit allowed a suitable bolt to pass through with a nut on the other side, locked by bending the bracket corners over.  This bolt, when turned, would bear down on the end of the slotted alternator adjustment bracket, dragging the clamp bolt towards it and thus tensioning the belt.  Having satisfied myself that in principle it might work, the Tipo was put on ramps again, the alternator clamping bolt removed and the pivot bolt loosened.  My cycle inspired bodge device required a bit of attention from a rat tailed file in order to accept the clamping bolt but, amazingly, my estimated (by eye) dimensions for the thing were compatible with the Fiat bits.  The device was thus positioned using the alternator clamping bolt and a couple of washers to space it out and the nut loosely fitted, enabling the tensioning bolt to line up with the end of the Tipo's slotted alternator bracket.  By turning the tensioning bolt a satisfying amount of force was applied to the belt and I could no longer slip the pulleys by hand - which was the problem yesterday despite my best efforts with wooden wedges etc.  Tension duly achieved, the clamping and pivot bolts were tightened (leaving the device in place), battery re-connected and a squeal free test drive took place.  Oddly satisfying.

Sounds a bit laughable to describe a 2011 Astra van this way, but that's a future collectable.

Got the garage up and roof on this weekend. The roofing is just sand coated underfelt at the mo, needs trimming and then it's getting felt shingles. It's solid as a rock now with the roof on.

Loads still to do, the edges need sealing down to the ground, it needs treating/painting and I need to install light and power amongst other things.

If they were 4 stud then they'd have been worth a small fortune to sell to the Nova/Corsa B modders, but being 26" 5 stud, probably worth no more than standard wheels as anyone wanting 5 stud Irmscher wheels generally are after 18/19" ones.

Btw, what's the deal that you're keeping the older Vectra and flogging the newer one? Is it just for the extra load space in the estate over the hatch?

Do we have any Germans here? I am watching something on ebay in vw land, but they won't post outside of Germany. It's only a hoover part, would we have anyone who would hit bin for me (and I pony up for that and local postage) then forward on to me at whatever cost?

They are much much easier than a rotary polisher, you can't really go wrong to be honest, you must remember never to start or stop the polisher when its not touching the car, and work the products properly, its just getting the right combination of pads and compound, I use a hard pad with meguiars ultimate compound for cutting (you'd need something more aggressive for deep scratches such as farecla G3) then polish with a medium pad and meguiars ultimate polish, then finish with dodo juice purple haze on a finger pad and buff.

Clean mops and microfibre cloths are your friend, and less is more with the products, I'm not really into detailing as such but I like clean shiny car.

I like spiders, they eat flies.

I tend to request they feck off & stay in their own area, they seem easier to train than dogs & pick up the idea really quick.

I'm not saying that I tried, but I expect if you tried to swap bits of dashboard trim from a facelfit Vectra C to an older one, they don't wouldn't fit as certain bits are curved on the newer models. So you definitely probably can't swap the stereo, snazzier/more useful info panel and dashboard trim, thus decreasing your chances of chrome fancy bits being fitted.I definitely didn't try that before I sold it earlier.

It had the 'screen' with it so would have worked (based on the fact it did when my son updated his Corsa stereo) but it's all Hamilton Academicals  now.

Edit...

The MG has had the burping done.. Results inconclusive as yet, but looking good. No belching of coolant after a hoon but level settled low afterwards. Will check in the morning when fully cool.

Yay!

MG also burped ( fingers crossed )

Level stable after three runs.
