Well this week I am hoping to book the blue RX8 in for a service at the local Mazda dealer. Probably going to cost more than I want, so we'll see, but it would be good to keep on top of this as it is a full service history car. Not sure how rotary friendly my local Mazda dealers are mind, though they were quite receptive of doing work to the red one and someone who works there has a grey one floating about the car park.

My next step is to get the garage cleared out as the red one is looking a little sad at work!

I'd be pretty wary of Mazda main dealers. There are some very good specialists out there. No idea where you are, but I like MX5 Works in Doncaster - I think. I've been there. I should know where it is!

Below my avatar its telling me I have 0 warning points.

What do I need to do in order to get some?  But a silver 1 series on finance?  Scrap a Maxi?  Go on  a collection thread without a camera?

I can give you some if you wish, free as well.......:rolleyes:

Only just spotted this @crapcarcollector is it definitely hgf? It did have one fitted a few years ago along with the heater matrix. What symptoms do you have?

Yeah fraid so. I even took it to my tame Indy for a second opinion.

Boils water, and pressurises almost instantly. Number 1 son has not kept his eye on the levels and has run it out of coolant.

Shit happens.

Suffering some OMGTRAINKAOS in true British Rail style - train that was departing from Birmingham is now departing from Wolverhampton and most of the services to there are cancelled.....

Hopefully on the only service that will get there now and might just about make my connection!

Finally moving again. This train is grim though - if Autoshite did trains they'd definitely be Arriva trains

Just been out in BGD with the dogs (ferkin boiling out there and full of grockles) and stopped at the shops... when I came out, a vintage (I thought) Bentley 41/2 pulled in just up the road. I had to stop and have a chat, it would have been rude not to! It was a proper 'oily rag' condition car which suited it down to the ground and the radiator shell had been polished away to the brass underneath. It was lovely... but a fake. It was really a 1947 saloon that had been rebodied in the style of a late 20s 41/2, but it was convincing.

Bloke wanted to swap me!

I have to say I was seriously bloody tempted! But, he was saying how much trouble he has with it and getting anyone to work on it was a nightmare and it's not all that fast and very thirsty... not one of those things put me off! The lack of  a roof or any sort of weather protection or security did though, it would last about 4 hours parked outside and it was so big (dwarfed the dollop!) it would never have fitted in the garage. God, it was gorgeous!

Rover 414 cambelt update No. 3:  valves and pistons working in harmony, strange unidentified noise has gone and all is well... almost.  The thermostat housing is pissing water out so we need to get that off and get it resealed, possibly a damaged O ring or something.  Mike is confident he can stop it leaking at any rate so it's an almost successful job, I just have to wait a bit longer to actually use the car.

Still haven't looked at my photos from the Retro Rides Gathering. Curse this delightful bank holiday weather! I'm off outside again.

I had Thursday and Friday off as wench Alf had a gall bladder op on Friday. This meant we haven't been out all weekend.

But on the bright side it meant I could finish enough jobs on this to make it driveable.

So this afternoon I have given it its first road test.

Prehistoric to drive..........but absolutely wonderful!

Still loads of bits and pieces to do to make it what I want but I can use it a bit now

we've been making the most of the lovely weather to have a run over to Whitby in the Mini.

the town was heaving, no real surprise given that it is a bank holiday, its sunny and its on the coast.

not seen anything ele interesting on the road mind, but we've had a nice drive out.

oh and i bought a matchbox mercury station wagon (the green one with the 2 dogs sat in the back) for a couple of quid, result!

happy dayz, now if only i didn't have to go back to work tomorrow......

Put a best offer in on a cheap, ropey looking xj6.

WCPGW, and why do we do this to ourselves?!

Wouldn't worry too much as long as it's reliable. My mum's Accord is £280/year to tax but it's mega reliable.

Some people worry too much about the price of the RFL, that 'cheap tax' car could end up costing loads more in maintenance, eg. complex modern diesels.

Thanks....I will update my thread when I get a a chance but I'm not much of a writer.....and I forget to take pics.

Had a close shave with it yesterday. The front was up on stands and I hopped in to run the gearbox warm before changing the oil.

Foot starter + dozen twat meant I hit the starter with it in gear......and it started. Frightened the fuck out of me! A slight hangover meant I was slow to react......but it was only a foot off the front of the house anyway. At first I could even figure out how to get out of the thing......no inside door handles at the moment.

When I did get out I was expecting to see a hole in the lounge wall.......

House ok.......well window sill bruised .....rear lamp buggered.........car off stands and sitting on brake back plates......and wedged between house and hedge.

Luckily wench drugged up with pain killers so no public enquiry.........

Still don't know how I was so stupid!
