I'm after £1200 and really fancy owning something I've not owned before. Soz.

Swap for my Omega? I quite fancy some French lunacy............

I saw this 54 plate Citroen C4 yesterday, the rear of the sills both sides were full of patches, I don't think I've noticed many cars this new (other than Ka's) that have this many patches before.

If you look at a C3 side on and squint really hard it looks a bit like a 2CV...

Curious where the wishbone-cracking custom came from? It all started with the ancient Romans (of course), who pulled apart chicken clavicles hoping for good fortune. The practice made it to England in the 16th century, where it was referred to as “merrythought.†In the New World, Pilgrims played tug-of-war with the bones of the more plentiful wild turkey. In Liverpool, the preferred item to use is the nearside front lower wishbone on a Mercedes-Benz S210 320 CDI when you've spent the early evening pootling down the M62 and only 5 minutes earlier dropped off your lady friend.

It's meant to be lucky isn't it? I suspect it'll look like this.

And it gouged out the wheel rim?  Whoa.

Mind you, I can't talk.  My Rover P6B tore its suspension arms right off the chassis rails (just like all the V8 ones do eventually) and left me with an nearside front wheel just flopping about.

Library photo. I've not actually looked yet. I just loaded it onto the trailer and dragged it back to Base.

Knowing my luck, mine will be worse. Annoying thing is it wasn't rattling or misbehaving, it's just let go.

Ah, but more importantly, did you make a wish?

I did when I realised what had broken!

you have to keep it secret or it won't come true!

I bought a P4 today. As always, when I got it home I noticed a couple of blebs in the paintwork.

Despite looking like its been in the sea since the last time it was started around 2002 the engine was persuaded to run yesterday and seems OK. I bought the car for this componant which is the humble 2.25 4 cylinder one. It's to replace the 6 cylinder in my 75 which has 'features' that make it unhappy in the modern world. The landrover unit makes approximately the same power but has potential for improvment- compression can be raised from a dismal 7:1 to a more LPG friendly 9:1. None of my planned mods are exactly cutting edge but I'm looking forward to overtaking cyclists in the near future.

Replacing a six cylinder engine with a four cylinder one? That truly is Autoshite motoring.

I have successfully* sold my half beetle trailer.

Described as 'absolutely dire and in need of serious work, but looks cool' on a popular VW forum

It sold within a couple of days, I've been paid, chap is coming to tow it away next week & plans to convert it into garden furniture.

Best thing for it really, what with the wrong font on the number plate and all.

Navy: Hey, you're off to Guildford for a dental appointment, right?

Me: You betcha!

Navy: Sweet, we can't pay for your own fuel, want to take one of our cars up?

Me: Ooh, that sounds nice!

Navy: Nope, you'll get either a Fiesta or 208 for your journey, getting it booked is an absolute ballache, you can only fuel it at Forces Bases, and we're watching your every move.

Me: Errrm... I'm okay, ta.

Can't put a price on comfort!

I had this once, volunteered to run something up to Swindon for work, got offered the boss's CRV with a tank of fuel in, and the entire contents of her and her 2 children's life scattered bloody everywhere.

I took the ZX, smoked a crap load of rollups, did 60mph behind a lorry there and back as I was on company time and only used half a tank of dervy-veg. And got £30 for my troubles!

They're already 20 minutes behind. I need to be in Yeovil for 3 for aircraft photography. Arrrgh.

Now 45 minutes. It takes a gnats cock over two hours to get there and I still haven't had my braces adjusted.

Not library photo.

Yup. It's scraped the fuck outta the alloy.

To make things more fun, got in the L200 this morning and the fucking windscreen has cracked overnight.

I know what you actually mean, but I have a mental image of you taking a KV6 out of a Rover 75 and putting a 2.25 LR engine in it...

Got my insurance renewal today. Three cars. Modern Mazda 5 , newish Kia sportage (daughters) and the pride of the fleet Rover75. Total price from admiral multi thingy £2596.00. Rang loads more people for qoutes . All were dearer cos i live in L36 Merseyside. Must ne twinned with the Gaza strip. Anyway rang them up and offered to renew if we could shave a bit off the price. Really helpfull fella ,Irish and in a good mood for paddy's day. Total saving across all three £568.00. So good deal considering. Bit miffed because I pay more for my Mazda 5 at 52 yrs of age with 16 yrs no claims than my 27 yr old son with 5 yrs no claims and a 2.0 s60 volvo. But he lives in L35 which isn't the Gaza strip apparently .

I wasn't particularly impressed at the time but it happened at walking pace going over a speed bump. I like to think that the poor old car held on as long as it could so it didn't kill me on the motorway. Gotta stay positive!

The car is 15.5 years old, it's done 189k and although it gets properly serviced it gets treated like a newer car rather than molycuddled like a lot of old ones. It's used like it was meant to be used.

Thing is, it's 1.8 ton or thereabouts,it's done plenty of miles and things do break. This just happens to be a big bit that's broken, but it's not the end of the world.

It'll take a couple of hours swearing to change the arm, the arm itself was £100 (OE new arm) and it'll more likely than not need the alignment doing, but it'll live to fight another day. I'll check all the other suspension arms tomorrow and make sure they're all OK. If they need doing then I'll do them.

For now, here's a STANCE Y0 pic.
