What a start to the morning, up at the crack of dawn Mrs Cyl is towing our trail boat for the first time, to Lancaster for the Trailboat festivel. I have just had 4 new tyres put on the trailer and final inspection at 5.30am revealed a distorted sidewall on one of the new trailer tyres. The spare is old and has some cracking and she has decided not the risk it so now we are waiting for the tyre depots to open.

50 miles never kerbed.

Fed up waiting for the tyre place to open, so this is our Trailboat made for canals, on its trailer and in the water at Bath.

That is nice! I never knew you could day sail a canal boat - brilliant.

Where do you get these, I've never come across one before

Blimey, that looks a big old chunk to be towing.

Would love one myself, but Mrs Tet hates anything to do with boating.

She even feels queasy on the ferry across the Solent.

Operation "try to find the new clonking sound" is go. Ramps first, if that doesnt find anything then its axle stands and wheel kicking time...

No Luck with the tyres till Monday so we will take a car up for the weekend and then Mrs Cyl will take up the boat Monday but I need to work next week and Friday is the start of Shitefest for me!

Happy to talk about this boat, but off now so when I get back.

Arrived in Weston Super Made from Leicester. Travelled with my mate in his Nissan Leaf. Two 25min stops on the way and zero fuel cost. Nice, quiet and smooth. I had a go and didn't notice the Rover 100 stop in front. I can advise that the abs works very well!

Winter wheels changed for summer on the boring and whilst doing it I noticed the o/s/r disc was corroded. As it's my work car this takes priority, so my planned thermostat change on the Honda has been postponed and I've fitted new discs and pads on the boring instead.

I also appear to have bought a Fiat Tipo from the tat thread .... collection should be tomorrow.

Noticed the rear of my engine seems to be coated in oil

Never actually drips, might be an old leak but its there.

No idea what the clonking noise is, either one of the front bushes has gone or its the rear beam. Solution - louder music...

I spotted an ml55 amg merc in Edinburgh ending today. Good history , long mot but a bit rough bodily sitting at 1500 quid. I stuck it on my watch list and said if it's below or equal to 1800 quid I'm having it due to my ponchont for v8 powered 3 ton heaps. Anyway we're out this afternoon and I think fuck, that auctions about to end. It had , 30 minutes before for 1650 quid....

I don't know if I should be happy or sad . And yes I know they're shit but still , amg powered v8 nnnng

Someone came and viewed the GT6 last night. I said to him to wait until I had MOTd it but he was keen to have a look. He liked the look of it and was not put off by the remaining work. He asked to go for a spin in it, so I let him.

He petrified himself.

Its not been driven more than a mile in the last year and the brakes were non existent and it had a misfire. Plus he kept trying to put it into reverse instead of first and I noticed this morning one of the tyres is looking a little flat.

On the most part, its nothing a good Italian tune up wont solve but I think it put him off a bit. I said I would let him know how the MOT goes.

Beko , that is your main air filter , shouldn't have another one

Theres 2 filters, a panel type one on the top (whicb ia clean enough) and this one (which is also not bad)

Saab electric wing mirrors weren't working at all, neither of them. Can't have a man of my standing adjusting mirrors by hand!

Given it was both - fuse was my first thought. Nope, fuse 7 also does the back windows, which work. So I took the switch apart (almost identical to 90s Vauxhall stuff) and realised the everything is wired through the left-right selector switch. Which was all gunked up with lube.

A swift clean later, clip it back together, and I'm electrically controlling my mirrors like a bad mofo.

Only vehicles I've known with two airfilters are tractors and plant and usually one inside the other

Was half expecting it to be full of fuel/oil, was a bit shocked/releived when only half a tree and a filter fell out!

The A35 was dropped in yesterday to be checked over and get the brakes sorted, I have heard nothing which I am taking to be a good sign. More likely it hasn't been looked at yet.

Got a goodly variety of fleet type things done today:)

Much happiness

The Volvo has been on workhorse duties recently, carting loads of firewood to my mum's house. It tows well, but not as well as an RWD Volvo, it scrabbles for grip sometimes.

I'm paranoid about the ticking/chattering noise it makes above 2000rpm. It could be a number of things but my best guess is the crankshaft pulley which seems to go on these VAG SHITE engines at 150k. It needs a new belt to replace the 12 year old one currently driving the camshaft quite soon, with a tensioner, new water pump and pulley it's getting on for £150. Living minimum wage paycheck to paycheck means just hoping for the best for now, eek.

15s put on Civic, seems to work with no change to the speedo, looks ok.

Apparently half the suspension needs replaced as the car is lower on one side, so as the car is pretty worthless we're trying to get him to not bother/replace the car.

What my wife described yesterday as the car 'vibrating a bit at 30mph' turns out to be a completely flat rear tyre.

These did have trouble with the servo pumps rattling away. I can't remember exactly what it sounded like as it was about 10 years ago my sister had one go
