I washed the 2cv after the storm on Friday. Since when it has seemingly been strafed by a passing albatross with severe intestinal problems.

Watching below the "Momentous Legacy of Goodness Gracious Me" on YouTube and behind the lady being interviewed, there.is, for reason a large picture of a drawing of a Mk3 Astra!

Which appears to be this picture:

Someone on the show either loves Astras or trying very badly to make the window look like there is a car outside.

Now showing 176,856 kms and nearly 29 years old the Toyota has just walked yet another MOT.

You've got to admire Toyota's engineering skill.

I've been doing MOTs too. I had shite company when I arrived too.

I'm always relieved when this bit goes to plan. I won't have to mess about with any brakes then.

Spot on.

So it's a shame he poked a hole in the back of the sill! The other side was almost identical.

But on the plus side it's small, on a flat surface and easy to get at so it could have been worse. And the Mondeo needed welding too. To be expected I guess. It's the third MOT in my ownership and the first time I've had any welding, so again I can't complain.

Spotted this sports car in Whiston village today. Didn't get reg because I was at the  lights and no time sadly. It did have the go faster grille on the rear window. He was probably at the motor factors getting some new points. Or whatever.

I’ve said it before and I’ll probably say it again. That colour! Those wheels! The whole package! 😍😍😍

Makes me want to go out and buy a Favorit.

Thanks. I think you might have enough on your plate with your Zastava though.

Ah. I've just been following the trials of the new one. What are the other two? I assume at least one will be what we call the Yugo 45?

Yugo Cabrio, and Yugo 65. All three powered by the same 1.3 engine.

Story of the Cabrio here.

I’ll get to writing up the third car’s story at some point, honest. 😅

Looks like a 308 GTB (possibly GTS) to me

I nearly bought a cheap one once that came in part ex where i worked. Sense prevailed, but it was close

Not the 308 - the photobombing thing (bottom right) with some sort of sub-windscreen vent a-la-series land rover?

You should have bought your one -- sense only comes with maturity (and hindsight.....)

Oh, thats Richards 2CV

And yes, i should have bought the 308, it was offered to me at 10K in 1999

I think it's a 512BB. with a wiper set-up to give @dollywobbler palpitations.

Quite a while ago I was offered a Daytona, in good condition, for 5k.

The garage had 3 of them and was willing to discount for volume.

Living in a 2 up and 2 down in a rough area of Leeds, with no garaging available, even if I could have found the money they'd be scrap within a year.

Now I could look after it but 350k plus would result in me waking up with my balls in my mouth, even though my missus is pretty even tempered.

Seems there was a spate of AS MoTs yesterday… the XC90 went through ok.

The centre pipe broke off from the rear silencer on the in laws Previa earlier and it's away tomorrow dragging a caravan.

IMG20240808165927.jpg.f2d1354153af0c30aaf449064cd200bc.jpg

I had a bit of piping left over from the Minor exhaust upgrade that slid snuggly inside the broken flange.

IMG20240808171615.jpg.5ebe11d77d33003535f1bad52d41adb7.jpg

With the sleeve inside I was able to wack some amps through it and join it all together.

IMG20240808174448.jpg.8a08d3416f0bb730e16004b6728df17e.jpg

I drilled a few holes thru the original  pipe so that I could then plug weld it to the sleeve for extra stability. A thick coat of rust anode paint and it got welded back onto the car job jobbed.

I reckon this dodgy bodge will last for years.
