Had a great day at the Resto Show, NEC today. Kallista looks great on the Panther stand and Kallista project 2 is next to the black one. If I get chance tomorrow I will post some pics.

Got the opportunity to walk around, said a very quick hello to DW (who was a tad busy!) and saw some interesting stuff. The show really has changed in flavour, to a true restoration/ before and after type event with lots of activity going on.

Back for more tomorrow.

BMW had the rest of its brakes done. Feels a lot nicer not having scratchy sounding brakes.

Remind me to never bother trying to fix an automatic gearbox

Thats awesome.

I watch this and think "Eh, doesnt look that difficult." but in practice I would get to where he is about 50 seconds in and would be looking for a bit of rope to hang myself with.

This is also good. It doesn't look as complex as that gearbox though (i put the wrong one up first)

Getting up at 4.30AM so I can sit on a National Express coach for 5 hours can mean only one thing. Collection capers are in progress.

First order of business: back to sleep.

Had to see off a dozy blond on the m3 from sunbury( no idea of gender) in a BMW 5 series estate who seemed glued to my blind spot- so after a mile I got fed up - they were on the phone, so a quick spurt of acceleration took me to limit plus 40% for a few seconds to get rid of them. At which point they then shot past ( I was always in lane one) at Mach 110mph. Weird!

That does seem to be a new game amongst retards, try to replicate truck elephant racing when overtaking. Then boot it before slowing to pass the next thing at +0.0000000001mph.

Shortly off on a 300 mile round trip collecting parts for the Citroen BX. This will be attempted in a 25 year old Citroen Zx, if I don't achieve at least 60mpg I will be disappointed! Preparation involved checking the oil and water, both fine, and chucking some soapy water around it so i could see out the windows.

Something odd is happening. 300 miles from home I hit a pothole, punctured a tyre and Google Maps led us down a dead end road in a tiny village shortly afterwards. Lady in the house we stopped outside let us in and has now gone off for a walk with my mother. So I am now sat in a total strangers living room while she wanders off down the road.

Been to dentist, the only untouched molar in my bottom jaw has a touch of corrosion where it's in contact with the one in front of it - bugger. So it's a return visit for it to get a tickle with the grinder and a lump of wob.

I am borrowing a Caravelle T25 for the weekend. It is a 2.1 water boxer GL with automatic transmission and power steering. I had to free off a sticky throttle, but will be able to do a full road test tomorrow.

It would be really, really useful if I could sell it on Sunday! Anyone want it? I reckon a good deal could be achieved.

Let me know on price, its just what i want but suspect it will be way out of my reach pricewise

I sold one about 6 years ago for £1800. Bought a potential camper convert but was better just to buy a decent converted t25. Had a golf 1.9d fitted.

Really enjoyed it, but insurance company were very sniffy about it. Kept asking why single bloke needed so many seats.

Went to get a copy of the Haynes big book of lies for the 316, as well as a can of paint for the sills.

Have a quick read up on exactly what applys to the 4-pot motor concerning the fan belt and pulleys/ tensioner before setting out to buy said parts. (A visual check was also done, but like to be sure).

Head over to the parts place and it's shut, then it starts to rain heavily.

Gave up and cooked lunch instead.

280 miles completed, one bx rear bumper and suspension arm now in my possession. ZX ran beautifully as normal and consumed half a tank of diesel. Next big run for it is off to Cornwall for my holiday in June.

After lunch the sun was out in force again, and I was up for tinkering about with the 316 again.

Having done quite a few window regulators at work this week I though I'd have a look and see what was wrong with the drivers side window, as the window won't go back up correctly without a guide.

With the Hynes big book of lies not giving me info on taking the door card off, I eventually figured it out myself. After than I could see exactly what was wrong...

"This'll be an easy fix" I thought, oh how wrong I was.

Long story short, it's still borked but in a different way now. (More in depth explanation to be posted on the thread for the car)

So after throwing it back together I decided to give the car an Italian Tune up, it's been a while since it's had a proper drive.

Plan to see if the local scrappy has any E36's in stock.

Had the tracking done in the merc this morning at merit in bagshot -friendly and liked the car. Did try to correct the front camber but the bolts weren't budging despite loads of wire brushing and plus gas yesterday. It is only slightly out though, but at least the alignment is now spot on. Probably for the first time in my ownership! Did give it a test on the a 30 by letting go of the steering at 60 - steered true with no vibration. Job done!

£42 for the alignment too, so cheaper than a tyre ( or tank of petrol).

As it was a nice day here on Dartmoor I shunted the cars around, and part way through did a quick fleet pic....

I've been looking into the airbag light on the Cadillac as this is the obvious turd in the swimming pool for any potential mot.

The seat has a sensor in it, which detects occupancy and apparently detects if a little person is in the seat and automatically de-activates the passenger airbag. There's an indicator that shows if the airbag is de-activated in the rear view mirror but even with me sitting in the seat with the seatbelt on the light doesn't go off, which makes me thing its the pad in the seat.

My basic obdII reader flags up an issue with the passenger side airbag system and recons it's the seat sensor or the airbag ecu.

I've checked all the wires and wiggled them all but nothing happens.

A bit of googling says there's a recall on this as the sensor was going faulty and either activating or re-activating the air bag when it shouldn't.

Google also says Cadillac are still selling in the UK. Result, I'll just call my local dealer and dial it in for a 0 price recall fix.

Or not.

My options are

The ecu's are available from the states for about 60 dollars.

I've no idea how I go about fixing it if it's the seat matt.

I try to find some kind of cheat device that will trick the system into thinking the matt is working okay. I see these around for BMW's but even on eBay USA I can't see any for the CTS.
